They had initially planned to stay out of it, but the current events made everyone realize that these disappearances were very likely not a coincidence.
That was until Neal Wallace and his group returned to tell Flora Bloom that Joel Bloom, Sherman Lynch, and Jade had also disappeared.
Flora Bloom’s expression darkened several shades. She immediately decided to head into the forest outside the base to investigate. ’What could have made so many people suddenly vanish?’
’Did they simply get lost because of the strange magnetic field in the woods, or did they run into some kind of danger?’
It hadn’t concerned her before, but now, Flora Bloom desperately hoped they were merely lost.
After hearing the news, Lex Cross and his team of thirteen all rushed over. They also brought ten communications technicians to survey the magnetic field in the woods.
They discovered that while the magnetic field in the woods outside the base was strange and chaotic, it wasn’t strong enough to make someone lose their way. Furthermore, a larger group’s collective bio-magnetic field could influence the natural one. Thus, the possibility of them simply getting lost was ruled out first.
Just then, Shawn Hale, who had left only a short while ago, came back and found Flora Bloom leading her people away from Villa Three.
"Captain Bloom, Rita is missing. Please, can you let me come with you to search the woods?"
Flora Bloom was just about to investigate outside the base with Lex Cross and his team of thirteen. Seeing the pleading look on Shawn Hale’s face, she agreed.
"You can come with us. But you will follow every command. Otherwise, no one will come to save you!"
Shawn Hale understood the warning in Flora Bloom’s tone. ’It seems my men really are in trouble.’
Flora Bloom found it strange. ’With Rita’s personality, she should have stayed safely hidden in the base, not gone looking for adventure.’
"When did Rita leave? How do you know she went into the woods?"
Shawn Hale took out a note, on which was a line of neat, small handwriting.
"I’m going to find Rowan and the others and bring them back. I’ll show you that I can do anything that Flora Bloom can!"
Flora Bloom was speechless as she read the note. ’She couldn’t help but wonder how someone as childish and fragile as Rita had managed to survive the apocalypse.’
She suddenly felt a pang of sympathy for Shawn Hale. ’In this dangerous, post-apocalyptic world, having such a troublemaker for a girlfriend... sooner or later, she was going to get herself killed.’
And so, Flora Bloom, Lex Cross’s team of thirteen, and Shawn Hale arrived beside the Golden Parasol Tree.
The magnetic field was strongest here. This was not only due to the plants that had suddenly sprung up all over Morhaven but was also related to the Golden Crow and the parasol tree.
The fifteen of them searched through the vibrant woods, but besides discovering a few wild beasts that tried to approach and attack them, they made no other progress.
Flora Bloom’s spiritual power was immense. She extended it to its full range, hoping to detect any anomalies in the surroundings. Just then, she discovered a strong superpower fluctuation suddenly erupting nearby.
Focusing on it, she was startled to discover it was the energy of a Space Ability fluctuating violently.
’In all of Morhaven, there shouldn’t be any Space Ability Users other than my mother! This fluctuation has to be related to her, to Jade.’
Flora Bloom and the others hurried to the spot where the spatial fluctuation was strongest. Just as they expected, during a spatial wave so intense it nearly tore the surrounding space apart, Jade’s disheveled figure suddenly materialized from nothing.
The moment she appeared, Flora Bloom anxiously rushed to her side.
"Mom! Mom! How did you get like this? Where are the others?"
Only then did Shawn Hale realize that this disheveled woman was Flora Bloom’s mother. ’No wonder she decided to investigate so quickly,’ he thought. ’Her own family was involved in the same incident.’
"Flora? Flora, quickly! Old Lynch and Joel have been captured. The place is littered with bodies! We have to hurry, or it’ll be too late!"
Jade grabbed Flora Bloom’s hand in agitation. But just as her expression turned sinister and she was about to make a move, Lex Cross suddenly intervened, separating the two.
"Who are you?"
Lex Cross narrowed his hawk-like eyes, staring at Jade as if he could see past her flawless exterior to the true entity within.
"Huh? Such a familiar fluctuation! Who are you? Why do you have *his* superpower fluctuation?" Jade’s entire demeanor suddenly changed. She looked at Lex Cross, a hint of anticipation in her eyes.
Lex Cross struck without mercy. A black energy erupted from his body and enveloped Jade. A moment later, after a piercing shriek, Jade’s body went limp, and she collapsed, unconscious.
