Chapter 429 - 376: Phoenix Egg? Hatching
Chapter 429: Chapter 376: Phoenix Egg? Hatching
Ever since discovering that a vein of Energy Gemstones had formed in the mountain range of her personal space, Flora Bloom couldn’t help but steal a few glances each day at the blood-red ores, each about the size of a fingernail.
Right now, she only had a tiny amount of Energy Gemstones—the ones she’d retrieved from the heart of the earth’s fire. If she and her small group absorbed them all, they would be gone in no time.
Therefore, establishing a safe passage to Orinburg and other cities was the top priority. After all, the higher their levels grew, the more energy—and thus, more Crystal Cores—they would need to advance.
The Morhaven base was full of people. If they went too long without fighting zombies, their drive would falter. They would start to feel safe.
Subconsciously, Flora Bloom didn’t want them to lose their ability to fight.
That was why the most urgent task at hand was to help Professor Micah finish developing the dispersal device.
For the past few days, Flora Bloom had been visiting the golden parasol tree where the Golden Crow resided. Ever since that day, the Golden Crow had been on the tree, lost in a strange, deep slumber.
She could no longer even sense it through their spiritual power connection. They were bound by a master-servant Soul Contract, which allowed their souls to sense one another. Yet, the moment Flora Bloom left the vicinity of the parasol tree, her connection to the Golden Crow would vanish.
The True Sun Fire that had originally wreathed the Golden Crow’s body was still burning, and now it had set the entire parasol tree ablaze as well.
The temperature around the parasol tree had soared. Anyone other than Flora Bloom would feel like they were about to melt if they got too close; it was completely unbearable. Flora, on the other hand, felt more comfortable the nearer she drew.
The True Sun Fire and her Fire Element superpower shared the same origin, so naturally, it couldn’t harm her. When she dared to touch the burning trunk of the parasol tree, a powerful surge of life-like energy channeled through her and into her personal space.
Just like that, the Life Energy roamed through her space before suddenly dispersing and flowing into the eggs of Vert, Juggernaut, and the Gyrfalcon, which had been in her space for a long time without hatching.
Juggernaut, lying motionless in the Space Spirit Water, seemed to sense something. Even Vert, unafraid of the flames, rushed back into the space from a distance. The Gyrfalcon, in its nest on the stone cliff, let out a series of excited cries, both high and low.
They radiated feelings of joy and excitement toward Flora Bloom. They stood guard by their eggs, filled with an urgent desire for their young to enter the world.
This Life Energy in her space was in a free-floating state, somewhat like the plant spirits that had appeared after she first watered the two lawns in the Villa 1 district with spiritual water.
This gave Flora Bloom a bold idea. ’No matter how I look at it, this golden parasol tree is no ordinary plant. It can withstand the scorching True Sun Fire, which is capable of incinerating all things, without being destroyed. The Life Energy must be refined from this very tree by the Golden Crow’s True Sun Fire.’
So, Flora Bloom began pouring her spiritual water onto the roots of the parasol tree as if it were free.
Sure enough, after she had been watering it for less than a minute, a thread of golden energy appeared within the newly generated Life Energy. Flora Bloom pulled it into her space, where it was instantly and domineeringly branded with her exclusive mark.
Flora Bloom released the thread of Life Energy, and it carried its golden streak back into the parasol tree.
And just like that, a new, plant-based spiritual power appeared in her spiritual link.
It had successfully acknowledged her as its master!
But just as Flora Bloom tried to transplant the entire golden parasol tree into her space, she found she couldn’t.
’Could this tree’s life level be as high as the Golden Crow’s?’ she wondered. ’But it’s already acknowledged me as its master, and it’s not like we signed a Life Contract or anything.’
What was the problem?
Now that it had acknowledged her, the golden parasol tree was connected to Flora Bloom’s spiritual power and naturally sensed her confusion. Suddenly, the fiercely burning True Sun Fire began to shrink, showing signs of extinguishing.
Taking the opportunity, Flora Bloom summoned Vert from her space. Grabbing onto Vert’s legs, she had it fly her up to the Golden Crow’s nest. Then, she sent the eager Vert—who wanted to return to its eggs—back into her space.
From the ground, it was impossible to tell how large the nest was. Standing beside it now, Flora Bloom was stunned. The nest was big enough to hold her entire body. In fact, she could lie down, stretch out her arms and legs, and still have enough room to roll around.
As Flora Bloom stepped into the Golden Crow’s nest, her eyes fell upon not only the sleeping, self-immolating Golden Crow, but also an egg that was half as tall as she was.
The egg’s surface was mostly a light brown, interspersed with rainbow-colored rings, giving it a strange and unattractive appearance.
Even so, Flora Bloom didn’t underestimate it. The egg’s colors reminded her of the giant, phoenix-like bird that had flown into the fire to its death.
"Don’t tell me this is a phoenix egg?"
The flames on the Golden Crow’s body were still intense, and the egg was also completely immersed in the True Sun Fire.
Flora Bloom watched as the True Sun Fire burned the egg. Under the heat of the flames, the colors on the shell grew more vivid and bright, while the light brown base color slowly began to fade away.
The process was slow, but the color was definitely fading.
’To be able to withstand the Golden Crow’s flames, even if it’s not a phoenix, it must be a bird on par with the Golden Crow.’ At that moment, the golden parasol tree also communicated to her that this egg was the very reason she couldn’t move the tree into her space.
This meant the egg’s life level was equal to that of her space, which was why her space couldn’t contain it.
The flames on the parasol tree blazed. Flora Bloom kept an eye on the Golden Crow in the nest while continuously absorbing Life Energy through it. She continued until she observed within her space that cracks were appearing one by one on Juggernaut’s four eggs.
Next were Vert’s eggs.
The eggs of both Vert and Juggernaut were by the bank of the Spirit River. Flora Bloom couldn’t resist entering her space to watch the birth of Vert’s and Juggernaut’s babies firsthand.
With a flash, she entered her space.
Upon entering the space, Flora Bloom appeared instantly by the Spirit River. Juggernaut’s four eggs were pure white and flawless, each more than half the size of her head. Vert had nine eggs. Each one was long and slender, a crystalline, translucent green, and the forms of the tiny mantises inside were clearly visible.
The nine little Verts were already waving their miniature scythes, eager to break through their shells and see the outside world.
Vert’s nine eggs looked thin and translucent, and the little mantises’ scythes were quite sharp. Breaking out of the shells should have been a simple matter.
But to Flora Bloom’s surprise, the first to successfully hatch were Juggernaut’s four offspring.
On the four crocodile eggs, strange bulges appeared almost simultaneously. At the tip of three of the bulges were sharp black points, and on the fourth was a sharp red point.
At the same time, the little ones inside broke through the four bulges from within, revealing four adorable little heads.
Juggernaut might have been dark, clumsy, and not particularly handsome, but the heads of the four baby crocodiles, their eyes not yet even open, were endearingly cute.
Moreover, one of the four baby crocodiles had a blood-red head, unlike the other three.
