Chapter 2722: Absolute Truth

Chapter 2722: Chapter 2722: Absolute Truth

"Hello." Ji Gu Niang greeted them politely, lowering her head slightly out of respect despite her inner turmoil.

"We should first examine your current condition to see how the soul is settling." Lou Liwei stated calmly, stepping closer to the bed.

After speaking, Lou Liwei focused his attention entirely on Ji Gu Niang, narrowing his eyes as he activated his spiritual perception to scan her energy channels. The entire room fell into a dead, expectant silence. Several long moments later, Lou Liwei slowly nodded his head, looking thoroughly satisfied with what he had observed.

"She is completely fine now. The soul has successfully fused." Lou Liwei announced with a faint smile.

The exact moment Sang Yuling heard those reassuring words, the enormous, suffocating burden that had been weighing heavily on her heart for months finally eased, allowing her to breathe properly.

"Thank you, Master Lou! Thank you so much!" Sang Yuling thanked Lou Liwei

Overcome with raw emotion, she immediately bowed deeply at nearly a ninety-degree angle, expressing her deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to the old man.

Lou Liwei quickly waved his hands and shook his head to stop her. "There is absolutely no need to thank me for this outcome. If you truly wish to thank someone, you should direct your thanks to Ms Tang instead. Without her sharp assistance and intervention, I might never have discovered your daughter’s actual, hidden condition in the first place, let alone saved her."

"Yes, yes, of course, you are absolutely right." Sang Yuling agreed repeatedly while nodding her head frantically. "Ms Tang is truly magnanimous and noble. Even after I previously tried to maliciously harm her and steal her fortune, she was still willing to overlook my sins and help me save my daughter’s life."

The moment those raw, confessing words left Sang Yuling’s mouth, a sharp trace of lethal coldness flashed violently through Long Hui’s dark eyes. The temperature within the entire room seemed to suddenly drop by several degrees, turning the atmosphere incredibly tense.

Meanwhile, watching this entire interaction play out, Ji Gu Niang felt even more profoundly confused than she had been before. Originally, after hearing her mother’s wild, supernatural explanation, she had secretly suspected that her poor mother had simply been scammed and deeply deceived by this so-called ’Master Lou’ while she was unconscious.

However, that rational belief began to completely crumble into dust the moment she saw Yu Qi standing right here in the flesh. After all, she knew very well from the news that Yu Qi was a brilliant modern doctor, a highly educated, rational woman of science who relied strictly on modern medicine and proven facts. Yet, here was Yu Qi, standing calmly in the room, listening to all these unbelievable, unscientific discussions about wandering souls, sealed demons, and mystical cultivation without uttering a single word of correction or doubt.

That singular, undeniable fact completely shattered Ji Gu Niang’s previous logical assumptions about reality. Her brain was currently working absolutely overtime trying to process and rationalise everything she was seeing and hearing. The more she desperately thought about it, the more tangled and confused her thoughts became.

Sensing the younger girl’s internal crisis, Yu Qi gracefully stepped forward toward the bed.

"Ms Ji, you seem to be rather confused by everything around you." Yu Qi said gently, looking down at her with a compassionate, knowing gaze.

"Yeah... Well... It is honestly just really hard for me to believe that everything all of you are saying is actually true." Ji Gu Niang expressed openly, her voice small as she struggled to process the reality-shattering information she had just received.

"I completely understand your skepticism." Yu Qi nodded, her tone validating the girl’s shock. "But everything we have told you is the absolute truth. Because you lost half of your soul, your physical body was forced into a deep, comatose state. If Master Lou had not discovered that your soul was incomplete and missing a crucial portion, you might never have woken up again. Eventually, your life force would have continued to steadily weaken until you passed away."

"So, what my mother told me about trying to use me to steal your luck and transfer it to myself... all of that is true as well?" Ji Gu Niang asked once more, her voice shaking slightly as she faced the grim reality of her mother’s actions.

"Unfortunately, yes. It is true." Yu Qi nodded firmly.

Ji Gu Niang lowered her head, staring down at the blanket for a long moment. A turbulent wave of complicated emotions crashed over her. She sat in the heavy silence, entirely unsure whether she should feel angry at her mother, consumed by guilt, deeply ashamed of the past, or profoundly grateful to be alive.

"Then why?" Ji Gu Niang finally looked up again, her eyes searching Yu Qi’s face. "Why are you helping us? Why are you going out of your way to help me after everything my mother did to harm you?"

"Because of your smile that day." Yu Qi answered calmly, her expression entirely serene.

"My smile?" Ji Gu Niang was completely taken aback, blinking in utter bewilderment.

"Yes." Yu Qi smiled gently, a fond memory playing in her eyes. "Your smile when you received my autograph that day."

Ji Gu Niang continued to stare at her, trying to connect the dots.

"It reminded me of myself when I was around your age." Yu Qi continued, her strict professional demeanour softening slightly. "Back then, I also had big dreams, ambitions, and things I desperately wanted to achieve. When I saw the pure excitement and genuine happiness in your eyes that afternoon, I could tell that you were a good girl who sincerely admired something and wanted to work hard to build a bright future for yourself."
