Chapter 2721: Looked At Her Mother In Disbelief

Chapter 2721: Chapter 2721: Looked At Her Mother In Disbelief

She felt almost no strength in her muscles at all. Her arm felt incredibly weak, heavy, and sluggish, as though she had been completely bedridden and paralysed for months on end. Surprised and thoroughly alarmed by her body’s state, she immediately turned a bewildered gaze toward her mother.

"Mom..." Ji Gu Niang called out, her voice trembling slightly.

"Niang’er, let’s just eat first. Mom will explain absolutely everything to you later, okay? Just trust me." Sang Yuling persuaded softly, her eyes pleading.

Seeing the desperate, raw expression on her mother’s face, Ji Gu Niang finally gave up arguing. She obediently allowed her mother to feed her the warm porridge one careful spoonful at a time, swallow after swallow.

After both of them had completely finished their breakfast and the dishes were set aside, Ji Gu Niang immediately returned to the burning topic she had been waiting so patiently to hear about. This time, realising there was no turning back, Sang Yuling decided not to hide a single detail from her daughter.

She told her everything.

She spoke openly about how she had once desperately searched high and low for shady occult masters capable of stealing fortune and luck from others and transferring it directly to Ji Gu Niang. She confessed to her twisted attempts at trying to steal Yu Qi’s immense luck. She explained the terrifying, sudden appearance of the dark creature that had backfired on them.

She talked about Ji Gu Niang’s sudden, unexplainable coma. She described in vivid detail all of the desperate, expensive methods she had tried across the country in order to save her daughter’s life. She revealed the horrifying truth that Ji Gu Niang had actually lost half of her living soul. Finally, she recounted everything that had just happened last night during the frantic, life-or-death efforts to restore her missing soul and wake her up again.

Ji Gu Niang listened quietly from beginning to end without interrupting a single time. Although her face remained relatively calm and composed on the outside, her inner mind was already thrown into a state of complete, unmitigated chaos.

The more she listened to the wild tale, the more she felt as though she had somehow become the involuntary protagonist of a bizarre supernatural fantasy novel. At one point during the confession, she even began seriously wondering whether her mother had suffered a severe mental breakdown and was no longer mentally alright.

"Mom..." Ji Gu Niang finally spoke after a long, heavy silence had stretched between them. "Are you absolutely sure that all of that is really true?"

"I know it sounds completely bizarre, crazy, and unbelievable to a modern person." Sang Yuling admitted, her voice shaking. "But please trust me. I swear I am telling you the absolute truth."

Ji Gu Niang still found the entire supernatural explanation utterly absurd and impossible to digest. Normally, the only people she had ever heard of suffering severe mental breakdowns were high school students preparing under immense pressure for major college entrance examinations. She honestly never expected something like a psychiatric break to happen to her own poised mother instead.

Looking closely at Sang Yuling’s dead-serious expression, however, Ji Gu Niang could not help but feel incredibly conflicted. Her mother truly, deeply seemed to believe every single wild word she had just spoken.

Seeing her daughter react with such obvious scepticism, Sang Yuling immediately knew that Ji Gu Niang did not truly believe a single word of her explanation. She could not help but let out a long, helpless sigh, feeling the immense weight of trying to explain the impossible.

"My dear, I know you don’t believe me right now, but everything I have just told you is the absolute truth." Sang Yuling said once again, her voice pleading for her daughter’s trust. "If not for Master Lou helping us recover your missing half-soul from that entity, you might still be trapped in that deep sleep right now."

Before Ji Gu Niang could even formulate a response to her mother’s bizarre claim, another crisp knock suddenly resounded at the wooden door.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Sang Yuling immediately stood up from the edge of the bed and walked over to open it, secretly relieved by the timely interruption. The moment she opened the door, she saw Lou Liwei standing outside, accompanied by several others.

"We heard the good news that your daughter has finally awakened this morning. We would like to come in and check on her current physical and spiritual condition." Lou Liwei stated in a polite, refined manner.

"Oh... Yes, of course. Please, come right in." Sang Yuling nodded quickly, stepping aside to clear the doorway and inviting the group inside the room.

Ji Gu Niang watched with wide eyes as two men dressed in elaborate, traditional clothing entered her field of vision. She was already thoroughly surprised by their archaic appearance, but her surprise only deepened into absolute shock when she noticed Yu Qi and Long Hui standing directly behind them.

She immediately recognised Long Hui solely because of his association with Yu Qi. After all, Long Hui was Yu Qi’s famous, high-profile fiancé, and their high-society relationship had already attracted a considerable amount of public attention and media coverage. However, what she absolutely could not understand or piece together was why both of them were present in a place like this.

"Niang’er, let me introduce them. This is Master Lou Liwei, and this is his chief disciple, Mr Lou Weizhe." Sang Yuling introduced the newcomers, pointing to each one. "As for these two, I think you already recognise them, Ms Tang and Mr Long, from the city. Master Lou is the Taoism Master who ultimately helped wake you up from your coma."
