Chapter 2494: Eliminating Harm for the People
Lei De’s face was flushed with anger, and in front of so many underlings, he felt somewhat embarrassed.
He secretly gritted his teeth, resenting Huo Sining and Wu Jun immensely but had no choice but to say stiffly:
“Since we’re all in the same line of business, why don’t you tell me your names? Maybe there’s some connection between us.”
Upon hearing this, Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh out loud, casting a mocking glance at Wu Jun:
“Which line are we in? Haha, do you mean we’re on Red Flag Avenue or Socialist Avenue?”
Wu Jun helplessly glanced at Huo Sining.
However, Lei De took Huo Sining’s words as her toying with him and snorted coldly:
“We’re all in this business, so let’s leave some room for future encounters. Let’s speak plainly — today, it’s my fault for not recognizing Mount Tai and offending you two. Whatever you wish, just name it, and I’ll accept it.”
“Whatever we wish?” Huo Sining tilted her head and gave an innocent smile,
“Earlier, your men said we should compensate several tens of thousands and apologize on our knees. I think that apology method is pretty good, so why not do the same? As long as you find his parents’ remains, rebuild a tomb, and compensate each household in Xiakan Village ten to eighty thousand, this matter will be settled! Boss De has so many assets, there are only two to three hundred households in Xiakan Village, and a little compensation shouldn’t concern Boss De, right?”
Huo Sining’s intent was clear: since Boss De seized the villagers’ forest, he should pay compensation!
However, as soon as Huo Sining spoke, Lei De’s expression immediately darkened:
“Miss, you’re putting me in a difficult position.”
These two came to provoke him, didn’t take him seriously, and beat three groups of his subordinates, completely humiliating him.
And if he compensated with millions, it would be like sticking his face in the mud. If word got out, where would Brother De place his reputation?
Moreover, the tea garden was built over three years ago; where could he find that man’s parents’ tomb and remains now? When the tea garden was developed, they did dig up quite a few coffins and skeletons, but they were handled by his subordinates, so where could he find them now?
Huo Sining, however, was all smiles, not finding her request excessive at all:
“Is that so? Everyone says Boss De is very formidable. How come he can’t manage this? Is it possible Boss De’s reputation is all just talk?”
Lei De’s face looked even worse, but he didn’t dare explode, because Huo Sining’s handgun pointed at his face from time to time, glaring conspicuously.
This woman seemed harmless, but who knew if her marksmanship was accurate or not. Even if it was inaccurate, a stray bullet from a negligent discharge might end up hitting him, costing him his life.
Bullets don’t have eyes; Lei De didn’t dare gamble.
He’s spent years building his wealth and status, yet to enjoy them to the fullest, and thus cherished his life, fearing even the slightest mistake.
Thinking of this, he raised his head to look at Huo Sining:
“Today’s matter was initiated by you, destroying my tea garden and assaulting my men. But since you say I’ve destroyed your family tomb, I’ll concede. Let’s call it even.”
“I imagine you don’t want this to escalate to the police. I won’t pursue today’s matter. We can go our separate ways. Just let it end here.”
Lei De thought he had used the best method to handle things, so after saying this, he waved to his underlings to retreat:
“Let’s go back!”
A group of people began to turn to leave.
Just then, Huo Sining quietly asked:
“Did I say this was over?”
This woman’s voice was crisp and pleasant. Normally, such a voice would make Lei De’s heart flutter, but now, all he felt was an indescribable icy killing intent, causing a chill to run down his spine.
The surrounding tough guys couldn’t help but tremble inwardly, each turning to look at the woman wielding the gun.
A chill crept up Lei De’s spine. He realized that the man seemed to have killed before, given the murderous aura emanating from him similar to that of a desperado.
But he couldn’t see through the woman in front of him. He had initially dismissed her as a harmless girl, planning to deal with the man before bringing her back for amusement.
Yet he hadn’t expected he was mistaken. This woman was the true danger, silently pulling out a gun and eliminating one of his underlings without a word.
Afterward, she remained unperturbed, still smiling as if she didn’t care about the events that had transpired.
Clearly, between the two, the woman was the most dangerous. The skilled man appeared to follow her lead and everything was under her command.
Just what was this woman’s background?
Lei De felt uneasy, suspecting the woman resembled a Black Widow spider from South America — unassuming but unstoppable once she attacked.
Yet under such circumstances, Lei De couldn’t admit defeat, else he’d never be able to survive in Luohua County again.
He secretly gritted his teeth, raising his head to speak to Huo Sining:
“Miss, today I was blind, unable to recognize your stature. I admit defeat, but please don’t push things too far. There’s often no good coming from relentlessly pursuing grievances.”
Upon hearing this, Huo Sining laughed, “Protecting one’s rights without relent is tantamount to repaying grievances with kindness. Why should I suffer such a loss silently? As for any good coming from it, there’s no need for Boss De to worry. I care neither for the little fruits in your pocket nor your so-called good fruits.”
At this point, Huo Sining’s voice suddenly turned solemn:
“But since you all are here today, don’t leave. Stay here. I’ll count it as eliminating evil for the people!”
Hearing Huo Sining’s words, Lei De’s face immediately changed, his voice turning icy:
“Miss, do you really think I, Lei De, am afraid of you? Do you think a mere gun makes you invincible? I have over a hundred brothers. Do you think your gun has enough bullets?”
