Chu Heng sighed silently. He couldn’t let her fall asleep in the bathtub; she would definitely catch a cold.
Reaching over, he took a clean towel and carefully dried her hair.
Su Mei entered, carrying the dress, and was startled by the silhouette next to the tub.
Chu Heng turned to look at her.
“Milord?” Su Mei stammered, which was rare for her.
She had clearly seen that the lord had also drunk quite a bit, and it was the strong kind; he should be drunk by now. So how come there was no hint of drunkenness, and he was already in the bathroom?
“Dress the lady; the water will get cold in no time in this winter,” Chu Heng said, slightly frowning.

The two helped Ye Muyu with a quick rub-down and realized that the lady was still asleep, not waking at all. They sighed with relief but also tensed up because Chu Heng stood by the window, silently watching.

Su Mei clenched her teeth, suppressing the unease in her heart, and asked Chun Xing to lift Ye Muyu out while she assisted the lady in dressing.
Ye Muyu hummed lightly as she was lifted out of the tub.
In Chu Heng’s watchful gaze, Ye Muyu was dressed in her undergarments.
Seeing the two maidservants trembling as they supported Ye Muyu, hardly able to walk steadily, Chu Heng stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her, “I’ll do it.”
Su Mei and Chun Xing exchanged glances and dared not interfere.
Chu Heng directly carried the young woman into the inner chamber, where the dim yellow light flickered and the coals in the brazier crackled, filling the room with a light fragrance and an added touch of warmth.
He walked straight to the bed, placed Ye Muyu on it, drew back the covers, and tucked her in, noting her cheeks flushed with a tender pink, like blooming peach blossoms.
Her hair was still slightly damp, so Chu Heng grabbed a dry cloth and started drying it slowly.
During the long night, not knowing how many times he had heard the candlelight crackle, Chu Heng looked at the dry hair, tucked it back under the covers, and as his fingers drew back, he accidentally touched her white neck. His hand trembled slightly, and his body felt as if it were roasting on a fire.
He swiftly withdrew his hand, feeling as if the soft touch lingered between his fingertips.
Chu Heng stood up, extinguished the light, and sat down on the soft couch, staring out of the half-open window, sitting there the whole night.

Originally, Ye Muyu had agreed to play with the two children until the afternoon.
But in the morning, big news arrived.
By the time Ye Muyu hurriedly arrived at the front yard, she happened to see Steward Luo finishing his report to Chu Heng.
“What happened?” Ye Muyu rushed over, her forehead covered in sweat, which was mainly because her clothes, combined with the light fluff, were very warm.
Chu Heng turned to look at her, his voice calm as he replied, “An Imperial Decree has arrived regarding the grain seeds; we must return immediately to receive the decree.”
“Leave the luggage and belongings to Steward Luo to handle; you will accompany me back in the carriage.”
Ye Muyu’s heart skipped a beat. She recalled receiving a letter from Zhongjin a few days ago saying that the grain seeds had been sent up from the County Magistrate to Jing City and that the Emperor knew about it. He didn’t say anything else.
Ye Muyu hadn’t taken the matter to heart. After all, she had no understanding of the situation in Jing City, and she didn’t dare comment on the Emperor’s decisions. In her view, it was still too early to conclude anything about this matter.
