“I do not,” Chu Heng replied coldly and mercilessly, like a foul stone, “Go back and rest.”
It was merely an ordinary phrase, yet it carried supreme authority.
Though reluctant, Lin Mianmian could only leave. She did not want to lose face in front of Ye Muyu, especially since her father had discreetly hinted in the afternoon that he hoped she would catch Chu Heng’s attention, acknowledging his capabilities.
She did not know what had happened during this period, but her father had surprisingly changed his attitude towards Chu Heng.
Once Lin Mianmian had left, Chu Heng’s dark eyes turned to Ye Muyu, “Has the wound healed?”
Ye Muyu had not expected him to say that, but she was suppressing anger in her heart. She hummed noncommittally, “Dinner has already been ordered. The chef is preparing it. Would the master like to bathe first?”
“Mhm.” Having rushed back all the way, he indeed felt uncomfortable. He spoke no further and went off to the back courtyard to wash up.
Ye Muyu took the two children back to the front hall.
“Lil’ Jin, what’s wrong?” Ye Muyu asked with concern, sensing changes in her child’s mood.
Chu Jin was somewhat indignant, “Mother, what if father stops liking you?”
Ye Muyu was startled by his question. Ignoring her true feelings deep down, she pondered seriously before replying, “If he doesn’t like me, then he doesn’t. Love cannot be forced.”
“Still, I can still take care of the two of you,” she said softly, smiling, seemingly in a good mood.
Chu Jin scratched his head, “Mother, if dad doesn’t like you anymore, then I don’t want to like dad either.”
He frowned, as if he had struggled for a long time to reach that conclusion.
Ye Muyu reached out and ruffled his hair, “That’s really unnecessary. Your feelings for us should not be affected by our relationship with each other.”
“In other words, your dad is good to you, and you should return the same feelings.”
“But if dad is not nice to you, I should protect you, or you’ll be sad,” he protested.
Ye Muyu was actually quite carefree. She shook her head, “No, Lil’ Jin. If you want to show filial respect to me, just fulfill your duties as a son. You don’t have to get involved in our relationship.”
“It’s so complicated, mother.” Chu Jin was still young and truly couldn’t understand all this.

He found no words to blame him, especially since mother had said that it was his father’s official position that protected their livelihood.

If he didn’t want to be bullied, he had to strive to stand even higher.
His father wielded power, his mother earned silver. In their own proficient ways, they protected him and his sister.
So it was, his father was also contributing to the family. He should not disrespect him.
Having realized this, Chu Jin felt somewhat embarrassed, the resentment dissipating, replaced by a hint of apprehension.
