"Lead the way!"
The Snow Wolf immediately carried her on its back, following the Yan Ou’s lead.
Gu Xulin was completely oblivious, still happily gnawing away.
A wolf’s howl finally broke his concentration. He turned to see an adult white wolf carrying the very person he’d been longing for day and night—Gu Xiao Zhao!!
"Gu Xiao Zhao!!" Gu Xulin was overjoyed. He quickly stuffed the meat into his mouth and washed his hands with snow.
Ye Kui looked up, her eyes filled with curiosity.
’So this is the mission target?’
She silently reached into her pack, slipping a small syringe into her sleeve.
The Snow Wolf carried Gu Zhao to a stop in front of Gu Xulin. Overcome with excitement, Gu Xulin moved to hug Gu Zhao.
But Gu Zhao immediately had the Snow Wolf dodge out of the way.
The Snow Wolf darted aside.
Hugging nothing but air, Gu Xulin stared at Gu Zhao in confusion. "Gu Xiao Zhao?"
Gu Zhao’s little face was cold, and she ignored him.
The Snow Wolf and Yan Ou fanned the flames.
"Hey, that little two-legger isn’t nearly as cute as our Xiangxiang. And she smells bad. I don’t get why he’s with her."
"I only like Big Sis~ I’m not going to bother with anyone else."
Listening to them, Gu Zhao looked at Gu Xulin and snorted coldly.
Gu Xulin was completely bewildered.
’When did I piss off Gu Zhao?’
’I haven’t even gotten mad at her for cleaning out the house without telling me! She didn’t even tell me where she was going! I’ve basically become a vagrant because of her!’
’And after all that, I haven’t even spanked her!’
"What’s with the huffing? Use your words." Gu Xulin strode over and snatched the child off the Snow Wolf’s back.
The Snow Wolf jumped up in anger and plunged its head into the snow.
’I need to cool down!’
"If you’re going to sentence me, at least give me a reason." Gu Xulin held Gu Zhao with one arm and pinched her cheek with his free hand.
Gu Zhao suddenly felt so childish. ’I’m not a real kid! Why am I throwing a tantrum?’
’What’s wrong with me! I almost acted like Ye Zuiyi!’
’It’s all this body’s fault!’
"I came to find you," Gu Zhao said, brief and to the point.
Gu Xulin was puzzled. "Gu Xiao Zhao."
"Did I make you angry?"
Gu Zhao didn’t respond.
"Then I was wrong."
Gu Zhao still didn’t respond.
"One million to forgive me!" Gu Xulin hadn’t figured it out, but he knew how to handle Gu Zhao.
’One million? Does she, Gu Zhao, even care about that? She’s a kid with tens of millions of US Dollars now!’
’It’s over! This is serious!’ Gu Xulin’s expression grew solemn. ’Gu Xiao Zhao doesn’t even want money anymore!’
’What on earth did I do to make her so angry? Did I break some divine law?’
"How about we go home and have some loofah soup to cool off?" Gu Xulin asked cautiously.
Just then, Ye Kui spoke up. "Are you Gu Zhao?"
Gu Zhao looked at her. "Yeah. Who are you?"
Before Ye Kui could speak, Gu Xulin cut in. "She’s the new guest replacing Ye Zuiyi. Ye Zexi’s new sister, Ye Kui."
"Oh. So you’re trying to steal a sister from Ye Zexi."
Gu Xulin: ??
"You’re the only sister I acknowledge. Gu Zhao, are you jealous?" The corners of Gu Xulin’s eyes curved, and for a moment, he was breathtakingly handsome.
’His sister cares about him!!’
"Of course not!"
Gu Xulin paid her no mind, a goofy grin plastered on his face.
Gu Zhao was speechless. She really didn’t know what to do.
Ye Kui wasn’t angry about being ignored. She simply watched Gu Zhao coolly, looking for an opportunity to strike.
A penguin sniffed the air, ran right up to Gu Xulin’s feet, and looked up at Gu Zhao.
"Sweetie~ Let me raise you! Be my little chick!"
The penguin’s face was full of hope! ’This little one smells so good! If I can bring her back, maybe my mate won’t blame me for losing our child!’
Gu Zhao glanced at it. ’Not as cute as my hug pillow.’
The Snow Wolf pulled its head out of the snow and shoved the penguin away with a paw. "In your dreams."
The Yan Ou jeered, "The entire Arctic will soon know that you lost your own chick~"
The penguin wailed defensively, "Some bad thing stole my chick!"
’A chick? A penguin chick?’
’My penguin hug pillow? No way, impossible! The little fox is too cute to possibly steal another penguin’s chick to be my pillow.’
Having found her brother, Gu Zhao prepared to take Gu Xulin back with her. Ye Kui followed along.
On the way back, Gu Zhao covered her ears.
Gu Xulin, holding her, laughed with wild abandon.
"Gu Xiao Zhao, you’re so cute when you’re jealous!"
"Gu Xiao Zhao, I’ve decided to let your butt off the hook!"
The three of them walked on, with the Snow Wolf and the penguin trailing behind. The Yan Ou had already flown away.
"ROAR! Where is my cub! My cub!" A wail of grief rang out beside them.
Gu Zhao and the others jumped in fright.
Hearing the roar, Gu Xulin instinctively tightened his hold on Gu Zhao.
Ye Kui watched with curiosity.
A female snow wolf was limping, its body covered in scratches and bite marks. Blood dripped from its fur onto the snow.
Yet, as if feeling no pain, it searched everywhere, its paws digging furiously into the thick layer of snow.
The Snow Wolf behind Gu Zhao clearly recognized the female. It immediately ran over, filled with fury. "Who hurt you like this!!"
It nuzzled the female wolf’s nose with its own, full of worry.
"SOB... One-Eye saw you were gone and tried to steal that thing... The others in the pack were killed by them... I was lucky to escape and tried to find you, but they found me and blocked my way... They even buried the cubs in the snow!"
The Snow Wolf let out a furious roar.
Then it noticed the female wolf growing weaker and weaker. It immediately began to lick her wounds, only to discover that her stomach had been slashed open... her organs were exposed.
It whimpered, anxious and helpless. It ran to Gu Zhao’s feet and nuzzled her. "Xiangxiang, I’m begging you, please save my mate."
Gu Zhao ran over and looked at the female wolf’s condition, feeling helpless.
’I don’t know medicine! All I’m good for is lazing around and causing chaos!’
Gu Xulin couldn’t bear to watch either, but they had no medicine.
Ye Kui glanced over, uncomprehending. ’It’s just a wolf. Why care so much?’
’If it dies, can’t they just catch another one?’
She had a first-aid kit in her pack, but she watched in silence.

Then, a few more wolf howls echoed from a distance.
The Snow Wolf guarding the female immediately stood tall, staring with hatred at a pack of wolves on a distant, snow-covered mountain.
