Chapter 102: Please Keep Going Straight

Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Please Keep Going Straight

In the dead of night.

In a third-floor bedroom, Gu Zhao opened her eyes, glanced at the time, and stealthily got up and dressed.

She gently opened the door and saw no one outside. She tiptoed out, making it downstairs smoothly without anyone noticing.

Gu Zhao opened the main door and then bolted out.

The Tibetan mastiff had already snuck out and was hiding by the entrance. Seeing Gu Zhao sneak out too, he immediately wagged his tail and rushed over.

Gu Zhao ruffled the dog’s head. "Good boy! You actually got it!"

Before going to sleep, she had gestured to the Tibetan mastiff: midnight, at the door.

’I can’t believe he actually understood!’

"Of course! Sister Xiangxiang! I’m a scholarly dog! I can help you eat your homework in the future!" the Tibetan mastiff said, extremely proud.

His dad helped his older sister and brother eat their homework, so he would help his sister eat hers!

Gu Zhao’s eyes lit up. "Good dog!"

’Good thing Gu Xulin hasn’t remembered that kids need to go to school yet.’

’I can still be happy for a while longer!’

’Hopefully, Gu Xulin won’t remember until I’m over eighty!’

"Let’s go, let’s go! A dark and windy night! The perfect time for some payback."

The Tibetan mastiff crouched down, and Gu Zhao climbed right on.

’An essential mount for any outing. Otherwise, who knows how long it would take me to run anywhere on these two short legs.’

’She got angry all over again. Why did other people get the long legs?’

The girl and her dog snuck to the manor’s main gate.

And then fell silent.

Gu Zhao measured her own height against the gate’s.

’Damn it! I can’t climb out.’

The Tibetan mastiff looked at the gate. "Sister, I know a small gate."

Gu Zhao ruffled the dog’s head. "Bringing you along was definitely a wise decision!"

The Tibetan mastiff happily carried Gu Zhao on his back to a remote corner.

He set Gu Zhao down, then ran to the wall and used his mouth to pull aside some branches, revealing a hole.

"Sister~ Over here!"

Gu Zhao was speechless. ’So the "small gate" was just a dog hole...’

The Tibetan mastiff was still excitedly showing Gu Zhao his little gate. "Sister! This gate is super safe! I sneak out to play through here all the time! They’ve never found out."

He crawled out through the dog hole, his butt sticking up in the air.

"Sounds like something’s over there."

"Let’s go check. We can’t let the Young Miss go missing again."

The voices of the patrol guards carried over. Gu Zhao didn’t have time to think and dove right through. After getting out, she stuck half her body back in to pull the branches back over the opening.

Once outside, she camouflaged the exterior as well, covering it with some nearby creeping vines.

The girl and her dog followed Dezi’s navigation toward the villa district where the Ye Family lived.

Meanwhile, back at the manor gate, Gu Xulin was fast asleep in his car, oblivious.

...

"Sister, do we really have to go this way?" the Tibetan mastiff asked, looking at the river ahead.

Gu Zhao glanced at the navigation system. It was still stubbornly insisting, "Please continue straight."

"The GPS can’t be wrong, can it...?" Gu Zhao peered into the river. ’Maybe there’s a submerged road under the water.’

But after searching for a long time, the girl and dog couldn’t find any road.

The navigation system persisted, "Please continue straight."

Gu Zhao: ’Whatever! Let’s go!’

Riding the dog, the pair swam across.

Soaking wet, Gu Zhao’s hair stuck to her face. Luckily, it was summer, so the two of them wouldn’t freeze to death.

"Ah! A Water Ghost! And a Water Dog!" A young man out for a night run was startled by the dripping wet things that had just climbed onto the opposite bank.

After the initial shock, he immediately took out his phone and snapped a few photos and a video.

"A ghost?" Gu Zhao heard him and jumped in fright. She looked left and right but didn’t see anything.

But seeing the guy on the other side suddenly put away his phone and bolt, the atmosphere became tense. Gu Zhao got scared too and took off on her dog.

That night, the guy posted about the incident online, and it went viral overnight.

#Shocking! Water Ghost and Water Dog Appear in A City#

#VengefulChildSpirit#

The internet erupted in discussion.

[OMG, are we entering an age of the supernatural?]

[So pitiful. The little ghost looks like she’s only five or six, and that dog... is pretty ugly.]

[To the person above, please don’t attack the big ghost dog’s appearance!]

[Weren’t there similar rumors before? It turned out to be someone walking their dog at night, and the dog jumped into the river for a swim. From a distance, it just looked like something moving in the water. People online love using this stuff for clickbait these days. Don’t fall for it!]

[Does anyone else think this little girl ghost looks a bit familiar?]

[Yes, yes! I think she looks a bit like our Monkey King... but our Monkey King is still alive and well.]

The Gu Family’s old residence was in chaos.

"AHHHH! THE YOUNG MISS HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED AGAIN!!!!" Uncle Fu couldn’t sleep. Worried the Young Miss would be stolen again, he had quietly gone to check on her, only to find—she was gone!

’Where did my very hefty Young Miss go?!’

Gu Xingyu and Gu Yunqi were both woken up by the noise. Gu Xingyu hid in his room.

Gu Yunqi frowned. "Have you checked the security footage?"

Uncle Fu looked frantic. "We checked, but they must have used a blind spot. The cameras only caught the Young Miss coming downstairs."

He figured the Young Miss had come downstairs for a drink of water and been snatched!

’My poor Young Miss!’

Gu Yunqi thought for a moment, then asked, "Where’s Gu Xulin?"

"I don’t know. He’s a grown man, it’s not like he’ll get lost. Who’s paying attention to him?" Uncle Fu only had the Young Miss on his mind.

"The Little Young Master drove to the gate in the early morning and fell asleep," one of the patrol guards spoke up.

’Drove? Slept at the gate?’

’I understand all the words, but why do they make no sense together?’

Gu Yunqi, followed by Housekeeper Fu, walked to the gate and, sure enough, saw a car parked to the side.

They walked over and knocked on the window.

"Who is it!" Gu Xulin was startled awake. His mind was blank for a second before alarm set in. "Crap, how did I fall asleep!"

He rolled down the window and saw Gu Yunqi and Uncle Fu.

"Second Brother? What are you doing up?"

"Where’s Gu Zhao?"

"Isn’t she sleeping in her room?!" ’Damn it, my stakeout to catch her failed.’

"Second Brother, I know where she went! I’m going to go get her!" With that, he drove off.

Uncle Fu was so angry he stomped his feet. "Why didn’t you take me with you!!"

On the other side, after climbing hills and wading through water, Gu Zhao finally pushed aside some leaves and arrived at a familiar villa district.

"Ptooey." Gu Zhao spat out a leaf that was in her mouth. Her soaking wet clothes were now covered in mud, grass, and more leaves.

"That wasn’t easy! I, Gu Zhao, have finally arrived!"

The Tibetan mastiff, his head covered in dirty leaves and his fur matted, sighed in agreement.

’Human navigation systems are the worst.’

’It made us swim across a river, climb a slope, crawl through a forest, and almost had us climbing a wall into someone else’s house!’

’But at least the outcome was good!’

Gu Zhao led the Tibetan mastiff to a nearby sewer opening first.

Then she called out to a rat. A shy rat poked its head out of the sewer.

"Do me a favor. Go get all your aunts, uncles, and distant relatives, and come with me to a party."

The rat nodded and disappeared back into the sewer.

A moment later, Gu Zhao heard a chaotic cacophony of squeaking. With great foresight, she had already plugged her ears with earplugs.

A dense swarm of rats crawled out of the sewer, making even Gu Zhao jump back in fright.

The lead rat looked aggrieved and wiped away a rat-tear with its paw.

"It’s okay, Sister. I get it. We ratties aren’t liked by people."

"We’re bad ratties. It’s not your fault, Sister."

"We understand. The ancients understood us, too. They said the path of the rat is a hard one."
