"Teacher." Jiang Chen’s voice wasn’t loud, but the moment it rang out, the dozen black-robed figures behind him hurriedly fell to one knee. Before the wooden door even creaked open, the twelve of them cupped their hands and called out in unison
"Teacher!"
A second later, the large door slid open, and the thick scent of herbs and alchemical ash spilled into the hallway.
Shun Long’s golden eyes swept over the kneeling figures, lingering for a moment at the six at the very front, before settling on Jiang Chen, who met his gaze with a silent nod.
Although he’d heard of their existence, this was the first time Shun Long had actually seen these people for himself, so he couldn’t help but take a closer look.

Just from their auras, he could also tell that they were all relatively strong, too. At the very least, their foundations were solid, and the control of their qi was also top-tier.

Without a word, the black-robed figures lowered their heads and acknowledged the command before vanishing from the courtyard, leaving behind nothing but the faintest ripples of qi.
Once the twelve of them were gone, Jiang Chen stepped into the room and unceremoniously reached into his robes. He pulled out a small memory jade and handed it to Shun Long before he said seriously
"Brother, I looked into the Tianxuan dynasty like you asked. It seems that in the last half a year, more than twenty of their subordinate powers have already fallen to the cultivators from the Immortal Dimension, and one of them was even the Ashen Moon sect, the sect responsible for providing pills to their royal palace. Apparently, the Tianxuan emperor is now furious and is no longer willing to stay his hand, preparing himself for an all-out war."
Shun Long nodded and accepted the jade, not answering right away.
He sat down in one of the wooden chairs at the back of the room with Jiang Chen sitting next to him and read the contents of the memory jade.
In truth, the entire central continent had been turned upside down by those cultivators from the ’Immortal Dimension’ during this past year, and those twenty vassals the Tianxuan dynasty had lost were only the tip of the iceberg.
Of course, multiple major powers had already tried to uncover those intruders’ real identities and their motives for descending into this mortal world, but in the end, not even the Tianxuan dynasty, the Eight Ancient Families, or any of the other major powers seemed to have found a clue as to why they were here.
Still, Shun Long wasn’t overly concerned about any of that. He’d only asked Jiang Chen to keep an eye out for any sudden movements from the Tianxuan dynasty or those so-called immortal cultivators, to have a general idea of the situation on the continent.
His main focus was still placed on Amber Dawn.
During this past year, he had already recruited five gold-grade alchemists, sending the entire city into chaos.
The moment ’old Lu’, the middle-aged guard from the southern city gate, began spreading the word that senior Han was looking for disciples regardless of age or experience, more than a thousand people had gathered outside the shop, each trying to be the first one to snatch the opportunity.

Still, Shun Long was very satisfied with the people he’d picked. During this past year, whenever he wasn’t refining pills or spending time with Liu Mei and Xingyi, he’d focus mostly on training those five people.
Although none of them was capable of refining high-grade pills just yet, Shun Long knew that it was only a matter of time before they succeeded. By then, Fu Li would have five other people to pester too, every time his stock was running low.
Shaking his head, he set those thoughts aside and turned his gaze back to Jiang Chen.
So far, neither the Amber Dawn Sovereign nor any of the two assassin guilds had shown any direct hostility towards them, despite clearly noticing that Jiang Chen and the others had started forming their own groups.
It wasn’t just the twelve Phantom-class assassins under Jiang Chen either, but also those in Xingyi’s and Bai Longtian’s groups as well.
Yet nobody had taken any action. It was as if the higher-ups of the Lunar Grave guild were simply watching, content with letting the situation just play out.
After all, it wasn’t like nobody had tried to form their own faction within the guild before. At the end of the day, these people were just Dao Kings. They were beneath any Sovereign’s attention.
However, Shun Long knew that this would all change soon. The moment one of them broke through to become a Dao Emperor, the entire situation in Amber Dawn would shift overnight.
By then, even the ever-silent Amber Dawn Sovereign wouldn’t be able to ignore them.
