Chapter 296 - 60: Heavy Cavalry Raid

Chapter 296: Chapter 60: Heavy Cavalry Raid

"Claude, go assemble our cavalry team’s heavy cavalry. You must be quick! Also, dispatch a few light cavalry units to scatter and scout the area.

"Ais, go and put the entire army on high alert. See if there are any other enemy troops nearby. Knight Commander Elon, the situation is unclear. For now, please remain in the camp and await orders," Robson commanded.

He told Knight Commander Elon to stand by, not because there was truly any force nearby capable of threatening the Robson Camp.

If the enemy had that kind of power, they wouldn’t have just sent a motley crew of Gray Dwarves to reinforce the Wayne Moutain camp.

The main reason was that Robson was a bit envious. The Fengman Knight Order had been formidable lately, hogging too much experience. More importantly, the Fengman Knight Order was a guest force and thus couldn’t absorb any of it.

It was a total waste of resources. Tonight was the perfect chance to let his own cavalry team have some of that experience for themselves.

The enemy attacking now couldn’t possibly be the main force. Bai Ma Ferry was a long way from Wayne Moutain. The intelligence brought back by the griffins during the day indicated the enemy’s main army had only just finished assembling at Bai Ma Ferry.

Unless the enemy possessed the same speed as Robson’s own army, they wouldn’t arrive for another day or two. Even if they did, he could just send the Fengman Knight Order out then. The distance between the summit and the base of the mountain was negligible; it wouldn’t cause any delays.

"As you command!" "As you command!" Ais and Knight Commander Elon replied in unison.

Claude, however, remained where he was, scratching his head.

"My lord, it’s pitch-black out there. How are we supposed to find the enemy?" Claude asked in confusion.

"Is there no moon tonight?" Robson wondered, walking to the tent’s entrance and pulling back the flap. Indeed, the world outside was shrouded in darkness.

"Today is the Day of Mourning. There likely won’t be a moon for the next few nights," said Knight Commander Elon.

The Day of Mourning was a custom passed down from the age of the city-states. The exact origins of the tradition were lost to history.

That complicated things. Robson frowned. Even Griffin Knights relied on moonlight for nighttime reconnaissance. Griffins had no night vision, and humans certainly didn’t.

If that was the case, then Lord Robson would have to go out himself. His Spiritual Power was formidable, making his Lighting Technique exceptionally powerful. But with the enemy’s situation still unknown, it was a grave mistake for a Main Commander to leave his post.

"Me! Me me me!"

Just as Robson was pondering a solution, a somewhat immature female voice suddenly piped up from a corner of the tent.

Everyone in the tent was stunned, especially Knight Commander Elon. The look he gave Robson was one of utter disbelief.

’So the Viscount has hobbies like this? He’s quite inventive, too. But how has he kept it hidden for so long?’

"Viscount, perhaps in the past you’ve had... um... but our Earl has never..." For a moment, Knight Commander Elon was at a loss for words.

"What are you thinking?" Robson shook his head with a wry smile. He extended his hand, and a five-tailed, snow-white Spirit Bird flew in from the distance to land upon it.

"Was that you speaking just now?" Knight Commander Elon asked, looking at the snow-white Spirit Bird.

"This is my Spirit Pet and my friend, Huang Na. She is a High-Level Magical Beast who once saved my life," Robson explained, no longer trying to hide it.

He no longer had to worry about other clans showing up at his door to demand her, not even the Dolan Clan.

’So what if they find out? Got a problem with it? If you do, that’s your problem.’

Hearing Robson’s introduction, Huang Na puffed out her chest, her head held so high it nearly touched the sky.

"That’s right! How could I have forgotten about you!" Robson finally remembered. His Magical Beast was of the Phoenix Race—a creature that stood at the very top of the continent’s food chain!

It couldn’t be helped. He had grown so quickly that Huang Na rarely played a decisive role in battle. As a result, she had become something of a mascot at his side.

"My lord, I don’t understand," Claude said, pointing at Huang Na. "Your Magical Beast can talk, so I assume she’s a High-Tier Magical Beast, but... she’s so tiny, isn’t she?" At that moment, Huang Na stood on Robson’s palm, smaller than his middle finger.

"Human! Get your grubby finger out of my face! Am I someone you can just point at?" Huang Na suddenly bristled with arrogance.

"The last time I broke through to the Golden Eighth Tier, my Magical Beast also advanced to her adolescent stage. It’s normal for her to be a little temperamental now," Robson explained.

"Golden Eighth Tier!"

Upon hearing this, everyone in the room gasped. Robson had never publicly revealed this before.

This was especially true for Knight Commander Elon, who knew better than anyone how difficult cultivation was. The Fengman Clan itself only had a single Gold-tier expert to its name.

’Just how did the Marquis scout out someone like him? What a monster...’

"That’s not important right now. This isn’t Huang Na’s true form. You’ll understand once she’s outside," Robson said.

"Alright, everyone, go make your preparations. The real, decisive battle is about to begin."

...

WHOOO... WHOOO...

After Robson dismissed the meeting, the officers immediately returned to their posts.

The sound of horns began to echo throughout the camp, spreading out from the center in all directions.

"Enemy attack! Enemy attack! Assemble immediately! To your battle stations!"

"Battle stations! Assemble immediately!"

"Cavalry Team, assemble!"

...

Following the horns, several cavalrymen immediately began weaving through the camp, shouting various commands.

Hans, who had been sound asleep, snapped his eyes open.
