Chapter 1431: Meeting of Lords

Chapter 1431: Meeting of Lords

In the highest layer of the spirits realm, a small room made of clouds was seeing visitors for the first time. This room was interdimensional, with each door connecting to a different layer.

One of the doors opened, and a man stepped through it. He was an azure creature, with stars and skies forming his body. The humanoid creature looked around, and then sighed before taking a chair.

"As always, I am the first one to arrive."

As soon as the man sat, another door opened. A green outline of a woman stepped through, looking like the embodiment of life and plants. Her body was created of flowers, earth, and plants. One look around the room and she let out another chuckle.

"As punctual as always, Lord of Skyey," the woman said as she walked toward her own chair. "Where are the rest?"

"In their realms, I suppose," the Lord of Skyey said with annoyance. "How are things in your realm?"

The woman shrugged, "Bad."

"Abyssal users?"

"What else is there?"

"A headache," said the Lord of Skyey as he rubbed his temples. "Our Sovereign brought seekers into this realm for this purpose, but somehow it's backfiring."

"Everything has pros and cons," a voice said from the side. The two spirits turned to see a man wearing white robes sitting on the chair, with a veiled woman standing behind him. "The seekers are keeping the abyssal spirits at bay."

"Greetings, Spirits Sovereign," the two spirits knelt on the ground and said in unison.

"You may rise," the Sovereign said as he waved his hand. He looked like a man in his twenties, with ashen skin as white as the moonlight and black eyes with red pupils. He had wild black hair cascading down his shoulders. "How are you, my dears?"

"We are grateful for your concern, my lord," the woman said as she rose and took a seat. "Our realms are prospering under your protection."

"Quit the flatteries. Things are bad, and he knows it," the Lord of Skyey said with a scowl. "We need to take a stand, my lord. Let's deploy the Divine Spirits to eradicate the abyssal layer."

The man in white remained silent.

"Take a seat," he said. "And then we'll talk."

The two spirits glanced at each other and returned to their seats. Two of the chairs remained empty, which concerned the other lords.

"Lord Halstren is no longer in the spirits realm," the Sovereign addressed their concerns. "He has entered the separate dimension to fight against Invidia, halting its progress."

"Alone?" the two questioned with surprise.

"He asked for my permission, and I gave it to him."

"Why make such a decision, my lord?" asked the Lord of Earthen. "You have refused taking action against him all this time."

"Things are changing, because a seeker arrived," the Sovereign said as a rare smile appeared on his face. "An old friend."

An old friend.

The two spirits looked at each other, as the Sovereign had only one friend. Their lord met countless beings, astral and mortal, and never referred to them as friends. Everyone fawned over him, but he remained aloof.

"The First Seeker is back?" said the Lord of Skyey with surprise. Stars shone within his body, bringing light into the dim room. "That would explain the unsettling number of abyssal spirits emerging."

"And the spiritual energy in the Infra-Layer," the Lord of Earthen said with surprise. "I thought he would return once the Second Trial opens."

"It seems that he has crossed paths with Invidia," the Sovereign said with a thin smile. "It seems he hasn't changed."

"Let's hope he did," the Earthen Lord said. "We don't want another merge."

"Utter chaos," the Lord of Skyey added. "I still have nightmares about it."

"Let's not hold a grudge. We did grow stronger because of it," the Sovereign said with a smile. "And it's unwise to hold a grudge against a man capable of pulling such a feat. Not even the Divine Spirit of Time can do it."

"The Chains of Order forbid it," said the Skyey Lord. "It's a taboo to tamper with time, even for the gods."

"He is the Breaker, after all," the Sovereign said with a rare chuckle. "In any case, things are going to be chaotic now. Once Invidia assembles his forces, we will see another war with the abyssal spirits."

"The final war of the Spirits Realm. Invidia has made dangerous allies inside the Abyssal Layer."

"We need to pick a replacement for Lancelot," said the Earthen Lord. "But who is worthy of holding back that infinite number of spirits?"

"It's futile to choose a replacement now," said the Sovereign with a sigh. "Lancelot has chosen to step down to prepare for the fight against Devaheim. Ever since he arrived at the Spirits Realm, he has been training to bring them down."

"It is truly the end of times," said the Skyey Lord. "Halstren is powerful, but he is no match for Invidia. Let me go after him and bring him back, my lord."

"I commanded him to stall for time, and nothing more," said the Sovereign. "Invidia is building an army of thieves. If we leave him unchecked, he would soon devour our entire realm. Furthermore, he has a different objective now."

The Earthen Lord nodded, "The First Seeker. If he manages to defeat him, we would have a villainous version of the creator. That is truly the worst-case scenario."

"Arthur is seeking him, but it's too soon," the Sovereign said with a sigh. "His current control of his powers is lacking. If he fought against Invidia now, he would lose. That's the reason Halstren chose to enter the Den of Thieves."

"What an honorable man," said the Skyey Lord. "As a named spirit, I have always questioned where his loyalty lay. It brings me shame to doubt such an honorable spirit."

"Well now, he isn't dead," the Earthen Lord teased. "We will reunite soon, when the fate of the Spirits Realm is to be decided. We must prepare for the worst."

"Arthur has obtained the Legacy of Spirits," said the Sovereign with a smile. "His growth is imminent, but he needs to be challenged. That will be your current task — make sure the First Seeker regains his old powers back."
