Chapter 85: The Devil Flowers (Part One)
Chapter 85: The Devil Flowers (Part One)
After the constant rain for the past three days, the night sky was finally free from the dark clouds, and was instead, filled with stars. It was the night of the Lunar Eclipse but the moon hadn’t made its appearance yet.
In one of the moonlit open courtyards of Chen Manor, Li Xian could be seen walking back and forth. His white robes and silky silver hair blew with the soft wind that was making the night even more beautiful. Every few seconds, his sapphire eyes shifted toward Xiang Ling’s private chamber which was filled with a soft glow of light. A frown was decorating his handsome face as he struggled to make a decision.
He suddenly came to a halt with his gaze still fixed on the dimly lit chamber. Letting out a sigh, he finally made up his mind and headed toward the door of Xiang Ling’s chamber. Once there, he knocked on the door but received no response.
He waited for a moment or two and knocked again. "Ling Niang?" A few more moments passed but there was no response again.
"Ling Niang?"
He wondered if the woman had already fallen asleep. Turning around, he was about to leave but changed his mind at the last moment. Facing the door once again, he spoke, "Ling Niang, I’m coming in."
He waited for a moment or two before he opened the door and stepped inside. His eyes scanned the room and he soon realized that there was no one else in there except for him. The bed was still made and one of the lanterns was still on.
"Where has she gone at this hour of the night?"

Borders of North Sea Realm
~
The North Sea, which had been mostly silent throughout the day, was finally starting to make some noises as the moon made its appearance. However, its huge tides were still nowhere in sight as the hour of the Lunar Eclipse had still not began.
On one end of the sea was the border of the Mortal Realm and on the other end was the North Sea Realm which was divided into two parts - the Spirit Beast Realm and the Water Realm.
Huge obsidian rocks were standing near the shore of the sea and standing on those high rocks at the moment were two very familiar figures. Both of them were silently watching the sea as they stood there in their real appearances.
Xin Cheng was wearing black and dark crimson robes. His long hair almost looked black if not for the moonlight that highlighted the crimson in them. His usually black-looking eyes had changed into the darkest shade of red.
Next to him stood Li Dao Ming, who was dressed in all black. The only other color in his attire was the dark blue colored belt wrapped around his waist with a wolf emblem on its center. His ash-black hair was pulled up in a high ponytail and his gray eyes looked as sharp as his wolf’s.
The next moment, another figure materialized behind them and immediately bowed in respect. "My Lords."
Neither Xin Cheng nor Dao Ming showed any sort of response toward the man who straightened up after performing the courtesy and continued, "As per Lords’ orders, our men have been assigned throughout the different provinces in the Realms to keep watch. "
"Have you found anything suspicious yet?" Xin Cheng asked as a little frown took over his handsome features.
The man let out a sigh of disappointment and slowly shook his head before adding, "Whoever is behind all this, they are aware of our movements and have been staying low ever since the incident of Shengdu Village."
Dao Ming gave a signal of his hand and the man took his leave. With another bow, his silhouette disappeared into thin air and left behind black fog in his place that disappeared within seconds.
"All of this just confirms that the person behind these attacks is someone from within the Demon Realm. Their timing couldn’t have been more perfect." Xin Cheng spoke as his sharp gaze became even more intense at the thought of the person who was creating the unnecessary trouble in the Mortal Realm.
"I don’t think this is just a mere coincidence. Whoever they are, their goal isn’t the Mortal Realm only." Dao Ming said as his gaze shifted toward the full moon. If not for the important matter they had to carry out within the next two hours, he would have spent the night running through the woods in his wolf form.
Xin Cheng understood the underlying meaning behind his friend’s statement - the mortals were just pawns in the game that someone had started. The real targets were the rest of the four realms.
"Whoever they are, they will not be able to hide for too long. As for the two of us, we need to focus on the reason we entered the Mortal Realm. If anyone tries to create trouble, let’s just get rid of them." He reminded and Dao Ming immediately showed his agreement with a nod.
"We should get going now."
The two of them also disappeared in the thin air the very next moment. Their silhouettes appeared on the outskirts of the Tianlin Mountains located on one of the biggest islands in the North Sea. There were a total of seven islands located in the North Sea that didn’t fall in the territory of the Water Realm.
"The ward is already down." Dao Ming said when he didn’t find the ward that was surrounding the island. At the birth of every pair of Devil Flowers, that place got surrounded by a powerful natural ward that could only be taken down either when one of the flowers died or the time of their bloom was there.
"Looks like quite a few have made their way here for the treasure." Xin Cheng commented as he suddenly flew up high into the air. Dao Ming immediately followed behind and the two of them flew toward the highest peak.
