Xin Cheng’s eyes were holding so much pain in them that Xiang Ling just wanted to pull the man into her arms and tell him that things would turn out for the best. Yet, she held herself back and kept the distance.
Grazing his cheek softly with her thumb, she spoke, "Don’t worry about me, Ah Cheng. I’m ready to face whatever punishment is awaiting me. You should focus on the important matter of explaining yourself in front of the High Council. You will need to explain to all Realms about how and why the Shadow Lord ended up escaping from the Abyssal Lands, and why you didn’t notify the High Council about the same."
She took in a deep breath before she tried to remind him that catching the Shadow Lord was a matter related to all Five Realms. She let go of his face, and instead, took hold of his hands. "Listen this very carefully, Ah Cheng. I know that most of those people sitting in the High Council will try their best to put all the blame of this matter on you and the Demon Realm. They will definitely make you their scapegoat in this situation even though they are also at fault for not paying attention to Abyssal Lands’ security."
Seeing that the Demon Emperor was indeed listening to her closely, she continued, "But there’s no denying that those from the Upper Realms are just as anxious to catch the Shadow Lord as you are. No one wants him to return because he threatens their power. Use this knowledge at your advantage. Make them work alongside you to catch the Shadow Lord. If all Five Realms worked together, then it will indeed become hard for the Shadow Lord and Dark Force to keep hiding for long. You need to play this game well. Even though you are indeed at fault, don’t let the High Council treat you as the villian in this entire matter."
Xin Cheng didn’t say anything at all and just stood there staring at her with those eyes of his that held so many emotions that even Xiang Ling was starting to feel overwhelmed while looking into them. "Ah Cheng, you are listening, right? I’m telling you to not let-"
The rest of the words never made it out of her mouth as Xin Cheng sealed her lips with his own. It happened way too quickly that it took her mind a while to realize that the man was kissing her, and it was not just any kiss.

It was deep, powerful, strong, hungry, and full of emotions. It was a kiss filled with all the feelings that he had been keeping stored within himself for so long.
One of his hands made their way around her neck before his fingers grabbed a fistful of her hair and he pulled her closer to deepen the kiss. He sucked on her lips as if he was hungry for them, making her gasp in shock. He didn’t treat her softly or sweetly. No, he treated her like he owned her.
Xiang Ling gasped sharply when Xin Cheng finally ended the kiss and pulled back enough to look at her face. Her lungs were begging for air after being kissed like that. She stared at the man, trying to understand what he was doing.
But instead of explaining anything, he inched his face closer once again to kiss her. Just as their lips were about to connect again, Xiang Ling pressed her fingers over his lips to stop him. "You shouldn’t be doing this. Don’t you remember the consequences you were always reminding yourself of these past two years? You should know that your people and realm are your priority at the moment as the Demon Emperor. Don’t do anything reckless because of your emotions."
"I should have done this a long time ago." Xin Cheng admitted before he removed her hand from his mouth and once again pressed his mouth over hers, pulling her into another kiss.
Xiang Ling tried to push him away, to stop him before he could do something that he would regret later, but the man caught her hand and kissed her fiercely. His kisses were nothing like she had ever experienced before. Just the mere feel of his lips against hers made her entire body ignite in the most pleasurable way possible. His kisses were like those sweet sparks of pleasure that caused her entire body to turn alive.
All the fight left her body in no time and she just gave in to her desire for a mere moment. For one last time, she wanted to kiss him with all the love that she carried in her heart for him because the future that awaited them, it might never allow the two of them to ever reunite.
Once he sensed her body melting against his, he let go of her hand and wrapped his hands around her small frame, pulling her closer against his body. He tilted his head to the side as he encouraged her to part her lips, and when she finally did, he slipped his tongue into her mouth.
Xiang Ling sighed into the kiss as she snaked her arms over the man’s shoulders and locked her hands at his nape. She returned the kiss with just as much passion and love as she was receiving from him.
She had no idea how long they kissed, they just forgot all about the rest of the world for those couple of moments as they just confessed their love toward each other through the kiss.
When Xin Cheng finally ended the kiss, he trailed his lips down her jaw to her throat before making his way to the hollow of her neck. He placed a soft kiss there before he sucked on her skin lightly.
Xiang Ling felt her eyes closing on their own accord as her body enjoyed his kisses. She was almost losing herself in that sensation when she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her neck.
