Xiang Ling felt her heart breaking at the sight of the tear that landed on her thumb that was still pressed against his cheek. She hated to see that Wei Guang had so little confident in himself and all that it took was some of Wu Tian’s words to make him doubt his importance in her life. This only made her more angry at the Crown Prince.
She quickly brushed away the trace of the tear and smiled warmly as she looked up into his beautiful deep eyes. "Why are you suddenly crying?" She asked him while brushing her thumbs across his cheek in a soothing manner.
"No one ever made me feel this special before." The man confessed immediately, and if Xiang Ling didn’t knew better, she would have believed that his words were also referencing to his life as the Celestial King.
Smiling warmly at him, she responded, "Then let me make up for that loss from now on. I want to spend the rest of my life telling you just how special you are to me. I want to tell you everyday that I love you dearly, and that you are the first person who made me like my life in the Chen Manor. And most importantly, you are one of those extremely handsome, smart, and strong men whom I want to spend my future with. How does this sound?"
A smile finally broke out on Wei Guang’s lips and he quickly nodded his head in approval. "I will love that. I will love it a lot." He was continously shaking his head as he spoke the words. "I love you, Xiang’er. I love you a lot."
Xiang Ling chuckled softly and rose on her tiptoes to place a sweet kiss at the corner of the man’s lips. Pulling back, she looked into his eyes seriously and asked, "Ah Guang, the current situation is one where you might be feeling helpless. But don’t forget that you have me with you. I will protect you and will keep you safe. And I promise you that I will do it for the rest of our lives. Does it matter to you that you need protection from your wife?"
Wei Guang quickly shook his head in denial at her question. "No. Don’t think like that. I can’t even explain how much your words moved me when you told His Highness that you can keep your man safe, that you can keep me safe. It actually made me feel safe. I trust you with my life, Xiang’er. It doesn’t matter to me that from now on, I will need to spend the rest of my life under your protection... as long as you will not see this as a sign of my weakness."
This time, Xiang Ling was the one who quickly shook her head in denial. "Never. You will never be weak in my eyes. You are one of strongest people I have known in my life, and I’m not talking about physical or cultivation strength right now. You are really strong, Ah Guang. Trust me on that."
Wei Guang closed his eyes and leaned into her touch as if he needed it more than his next breath at that moment. Realizing that her man needed her physically, she closed the remaining space between them and wrapped her other arm around his waist. He responded immediately and pulled her into his embrace, wrapping his own arms around her tightly.
"You face is almost freezing." She told the man as she kept her palm pressed against his cheek that felt too cold against her warm palm.
"Then help me get warm." Wei Guang whispered as he took hold of her hand and pulled it away from his cheek only to bury his face in the crook of her neck the very next moment.
Xiang Ling immediately burst out into giggles and little screams as his cold skin touched her warm one. She wriggled in his hold, trying to get away from him, but the man was holding her tightly.
"Ah Guang! It’s too cold. You are too cold. Let me go!"
She demanded while she continued to try and save herself, but the man showed her no mercy and even went as far as removing his face from the crook of her neck only to bury it on the other side of her neck.
Xiang Ling continued to giggle all the while her fight for freedom continued. It took way too much efforts on her part to finally pull herself out of the man’s tight hold. The moment she was free, she wanted revenge.
Her gaze darted around them for a second or two before she crouched down to gather a fistful of snow and threw it toward a very unprepared Wei Guang. Though taken aback initially, the man quickly pulled himself together and went for his own attack. It didn’t take long before the two of them launched into a snow fight and the previously silent forest was now filled with their screams and laughter.
Xiang Ling was busy running after Wei Guang with a huge snowball in her hands when a powerful snowball hit her square on the shoulder. Confused and stunned, she turned her gaze toward the direction from where the snowball came and found a smirking Zhang Xuan standing not too far from her and Wei Guang.
"I’m here to join the fun." He announced before he pulled both his hands in the front and launched two snowballs at the same time - one at Xiang Ling and the second at Wei Guang.
It took a while for the two victims to get out of their shocked states, but once they did, they were already on their way to take revenge and attacked Zhang Xuan together. Within seconds, the game of two became a game of three as all three of them ran after one another, throwing the snowballs.
At one point, Xiang Ling was running from the two men who suddenly teamed up on her. The two jumped on her and the three of them immediately went rolling on the snow. Laughing crazily while clutched in the arms of her two husbands, she realized just how happy she was feeling on that moment. This was the first time she had this much fun ever since she came to the Mortal Realm.
