Xiang Ling watched as the woman, dressed like a man at the moment, sipped tea as if she wasn’t running for her life from the Imperial guards of the Crown Prince’s Manor. After putting two and two together, Xiang Ling already had an inkling of Supreme Immortal Lin’s identity in the Mortal Realm.
When she noticed the woman reaching out for kettle of tea for the fourth time, she finally decided to act and stopped her. "How about you answer some of my questions now?"
Supreme Immortal Lin let out a small sigh before she removed Xiang Ling’s hand that was holding her arm. Pouring herself another cup of tea, she responded, "What do you want to know?"
"Are you the Crown Princess?" Came Xiang Ling’s first question and it immediately received a long sigh from the woman. A second later, she nodded her head in the affirmative.
After confirming the woman’s identity in the Mortal Realm, Xiang Ling asked her second question. "What are you doing in the Mortal Realm?"
This time, the sigh that left Supreme Immortal Lin’s lips carried a lot of emotions. She seemed sad, angry, dejected, and even little bit scared which surprised Xiang Ling. She didn’t speak for a while and just sipped her tea. It was finally after several long moments had passed, did she spoke.
"I was having a battle with a disciple near the Heavenly Portal when she suddenly played a dirty trick and pushed me into the portal. The next thing I knew, I was inside the body of the deceased Crown Princess."
Xiang Ling remained silent as she processed the information that she just received. Entering the Mortal Realm through the divine portal resulted in the activation of one’s life tribulation. This meant that Supreme Immortal Lin was also undergoing her life tribulation.
Realizing just how many powerful and high immortals were currently undergoing there life tribulations in the Mortal Realm, Xiang Ling almost felt scared. It was too much to be just a coincidence. But there was another big mystery here. Turning her attention toward the woman, she asked, "So... you didn’t get born as a mortal after initiating your life tribulation, but ended up inside the body of a full grown mortal woman."
It wasn’t a question as she already knew the answer, but her words did pull Supreme Immortal Lin’s full attention toward her. The woman assessed Xiang Ling from head to toe before summarizing. "That’s exactly what happened to you too. Right?"
Xiang Ling immediately nodded her head in affirmative.
"So, my guess was right. Something is wrong with the Divine Portal. Is it broken or something?"
The question came from Supreme Immortal Lin and it made Xiang Ling recall her own theory about the divine portal being broken. The thing that happened with her, it wasn’t one time mistake or tampering, the portal was completely broken which was causing trouble for every other Immortal who was using the portal to enter the Mortal Realm.
"It’s weird. How come no one in the Heavenly Realm realized that something is wrong with the Divine Portal?" Xiang Ling found herself wondering as the Divine Portal was always closely monitored.
"Actually, it seems like the higher-ups are already aware of this fact. After you were sent here, it was announced throughout the Heavenly and Celestial Realms that all the immortals should refrain from using the Divine Portal until next announcement. I only ended up in this mess because of that bit-"
Supreme Immortal Lin came to a sudden stop before she could have fully spoken the curse word. She closed her eyes for a moment and took in a deep breath as if to calm herself down.
The two women remained silent for a while before Xiang Ling finally broke the silence. "What is going on between you and the Crown Prince? I have heard quite a few stories since I arrived in the Imperial City a week ago."
Supreme Immortal Lin arched her eyebrows high in surprise before she asked, "You don’t live here?"
Xiang Ling shook her head in negative before adding, "I live in Dongzhi City of Nanxia County. It’s a week long journey to my place from here. I only came here for business work and will be leaving soon." She barely finished speaking before the other woman grabbed her hands tightly as if she was afraid that Xiang Ling might disappear any second.
"You can’t leave!"
"Why?"
"What do you mean by why? Haven’t you already heard about my situation? That damn Su LiangLin had done all sorts of evil deeds to get married to the Crown Prince. Not only that but she even tried to drug the man during their wedding night. Right now, I’m the person that mortal man hates the most. You can’t possibly be thinking about leaving me alone in such a situation!"
Xiang Ling remained silent and studied the woman for a moment before finally replying, "First of all, we aren’t close enough for me to even worry about your well-being. Second thing, even if you die here, you will just return to Heavenly Realm. Even though you will lose around a thousand years worth of cultivation powers for failing your life tribulation, I’m sure that’s not too much for someone as old as you. Third and the last thing, the situation you are facing right now... it’s nothing compared to what I faced when I first came to the Mortal Realm. You are afraid that there is one man out there who might kill you at any possible moment. You know what I went through..."
Her voice was so low that Supreme Immortal Lin had to strain her ears to hear her next words.
"... I was hated by not one... but five men who despised me enough to kill me at any given moment. And you know what? No one helped me back then to save myself. I did it on my own. Considering how much better you consider yourself when compared to me, I’m sure you will not fail in this task when I survived through it."
The smile and look on Xiang Ling’s face was enough to tell Supreme Immortal Lin that another challenge had just been initiated between the two of them.
