Chapter 202: Azure Misty Mountains
As the Autumn entered into its second month, the weather became slightly colder and the anticipation of winter grew even more. Everyone was bust preparing for the season of heavy snowstorms.
Xiang Ling, on the other hand, was busy making plans for clothing shop and executing them with the help of Chao Xing. Unexpectedly, the two of them turned out to be really good partners when they actually got to discuss their business ideas. Considering her creativity, connections, attitude, and past experience, Xiang Ling was sure that her Second sister-in-law would be able to handle the business of the clothing shop perfectly.
During the past weeks, they made deals with fabric merchants, sought out skillful staff, contacted some cloth designers, and started designing the architecture of the clothing store.
All in all, Xiang Ling’s days in the Mortal Realm were going really busy. Her day started with work and ended with work.
This particular night, she just finished having late night tea with Li Xian, and was currently on her way to her room when she noticed two figures, dressed in all black, stepping out of Xin Cheng’s room and quickly disappearing in the shadows.
Since she was still at a distance from them and almost hidden from their sight, probably neither of them noticed her presence. But she knew for sure that those two men were none other than Xin Cheng and Dao Ming.
Not being able to control her curiosity, she found herself tailing them from a distance that was enough for her to hide her presence and not get noticed by the two men.
The two of them walked out of the Manor through the back door before they teleported away. Xiang Ling hurried to follow them as she grasped the essence of their spell and allowed her own powers to take her to the same place they went.
What she didn’t expect was for them to travel all the way to Azure Misty Peaks. These mountains were located at the opposite end of the Realm, over a distance of seven hundred kilometers from Dongzhi City. Teleporting across such a big distance needed a powerful spell which ended up exhausting most of her cultivation powers.
Through constant practice for the past half an year, she had been able to make her mortal body stronger compared to the past. This made her able to handle up to twenty percent of her divine powers. Yet, she was still not able to use more than the limited amount of powers which left her exhausted in no time.
When she finally appeared on the other side of the teleportation array, she found herself standing on a narrow path built around a huge mountain peak. She noticed Xin Cheng and Dao Ming making their way ahead on the path and she remained in her original position to build some more distance between them.
In the meantime, she spared a quick glance down and almost felt her heart coming to a stop as pure terror took over her. Only darkness and heavy mist greeted her sight, making her realize just how high she was from the ground.
She quickly looked away and pressed herself against the mountain peak. She took several deep breaths to calm herself down as she started making her way forward. However, she soon came to realize that during the short moment of her distraction, Xin Cheng and Dao Ming had disappeared somewhere.
She quickened her steps, almost running despite the fact that the path was so narrow that only one person could walk on it. Yet, she continued but found no sign of those two. She even tried to sense the presence of their spiritual energies but found nothing. It was at that moment she realized that those two men just fooled her. They knew very well that she was following them and they purposely led her to this place before finding the perfect chance and disappearing without leaving a trace behind.
A frustrated sigh left her lips as she cursed the two men in her mind. Not having any other option left, she decided to return to the Chen Manor. However, it turned out fate had some other plans for her.
Right before she was about to teleport away, she felt a little pebble hitting her shoulder as it dropped from above, probably from the top of the peak. Even though the pebble was very small in size, the hit still hurt a little bit because of the force with which it was falling.
She rubbed the area where she got hit and was ready to teleport away when an ear-piercing scream entered her ears. She quickly scanned the area with her enhanced eyesight to see the source of the sound and soon realized that it was coming from above her.
The very moment she looked up, her eyes landed on a figure that was coming down rapidly. As it finally reached to her level, their gazes locked for a second and Xiang Ling saw something reaching out for her.
It seemed like the world stopped around her for a moment and then, the very next moment, she found herself being pulled down and her body followed after the person who was already on their way to hell.
As her brain finally registered what was happening, a scream made its way out past her lips and she found her entire being filled with nothing but bone-chilling terror. Every cell in her body knew that her end was near.
’Do something or you will die!’
The panic filled voice belonged to Little Pink who too was shaken awake from her deep slumber by Xiang Ling’s scream.
It took barely a second for Xiang Ling to get a grip on herself as she clutched the person who dragged her down from the peak and used a spell to stop their fall barely a second or two before they were about to hit the ground.
The surroundings that had been rushing past them finally came to a still as the two of them landed on the ground softly.
