Wei Guang almost choked on his wine as he witnessed the unexpected scene unfolding before his eyes. He was shocked, but at the same time, he felt another kind of emotion blossoming within him... and it wasn’t jealousy. No! He didn’t feel jealous seeing his wife with the other four. Instead, there was a kind of relief knowing that there were other reliable men around her who could take care of her along with him.
Whenever he tried to make sense of his feelings, he only ended up becoming more puzzled. Why would any man willingly want to share his wife’s love with other men? Was something wrong with him?
He was jerked out of his thoughts when he suddenly felt something soft and warm touching his cheek. His head moved even before his mind registered exactly what had happened, and he found himself looking at a smiling Xiang Ling who had moved beside him while he was lost in the world of his thoughts.
"What are you thinking about?" she asked, tilting her head to the side and looking at him with her beautiful deep dark eyes. She looked enchanting and alluring whenever she fixed anyone with that siren-like gaze of hers.
Unable to control himself, Wei Guang whispered his answer, "You."
The slight change in Xiang Ling’s eyes made it obvious that she wasn’t expecting that answer. She gazed at him for a while before asking, "Did you two plan to return to your rooms after drinking with me?" Her gaze shifted between the two men as she waited for a response.
Her question surprised both men, and it was Li Xian who finally decided to answer. "Well... that was indeed... the plan," he said hesitantly, unsure if he was reading too much into her words.
"You want us to stay here with you tonight?" Wei Guang suddenly asked, capturing both Xiang Ling and Li Xian’s attention.
"Will you stay?" Instead of answering, Xiang Ling replied with her own question, once again studying the two men closely. When neither of them replied for a while, she added, "It’s alright. I don’t want any of you to do anything against your wills. We can-"
The rest of her words were lost as a pair of lips sealed her mouth in an unexpected kiss. It took her a moment to pull herself out of the shock, but before she could have returned the kiss, it already ended, leaving her craving for more.
Wei Guang pulled away slightly and looked directly into her eyes. "I will," he finally replied to the question she had just asked.
Xiang Ling took a moment to absorb his decision before her gaze shifted toward Li Xian, who had been silent all this time. She waited for him to make his decision, and just by looking into his deep blue eyes, she already knew what he was going to say.
"I... I must take my leave now. You two can have more time alone. I... I will... come and see you tomorrow."
Xiang Ling nodded both in agreement and understanding. She couldn’t expect all of them to be so open about her being intimate with someone else in front of them. If they were generous enough to accept each other in her life, she should also be understanding toward their choices.
She watched as Li Xian stood up from his seat and moved toward the door of the chamber. But then, he suddenly stopped in his tracks. He stood there for what seemed like an entire minute without moving or saying anything.
Just as she was about to ask him what was wrong, the man suddenly turned around and walked back to where she was sitting next to Wei Guang. He crouched in front of her, and the next thing she knew, she was once again pulled into a kiss.
Yet, once again, the kiss ended as soon as it began, barely giving her the chance to react, let alone return the kiss.
When he pulled away, she was left flustered and shocked. "Aren’t you leaving anymore?" she found herself asking while her eyes stared at the Heavenly Crown Prince in confusion.
"I’m not," Li Xian whispered, trailing his fingers down her temple to her cheek before tucking the loose strand of hair behind her ear. "I have changed my mind. I would rather spend my night in your company than sleep alone in my bed."
"Still, you don’t have to force yourself. Neither of you need to do it. From now on, I promise to try my best to share my time with you all equally. You don’t have to compromise." She felt the need to let them know.
"Don’t worry. Neither of us are compromising." Li Xian assured her with a soft smile.
Xiang Ling looked between the two men who had their gazes fixed on her as if they were waiting for her to do or say something. "Are you both sure about this?" she asked, her heart pounding within her chest.
The two men exchanged a look, and it was almost like a silent conversation took place between them in those fleeting seconds. When their attention returned to her, they both carried a clear understanding in their eyes.
Xiang Ling waited impatiently to know their decision, but still made an effort not to press them for an answer. After a few moments, Li Xian was the first to move. He stood up again and offered her his hand. Xiang Ling glanced at Wei Guang, who gave her an encouraging nod. Letting out a small sigh, she accepted the offered hand.
The Heavenly Crown Prince pulled her to her feet and started walking toward the other side of the chamber, with Xiang Ling following silently until they stopped not too far from the bed, which was fortunately large enough to accommodate three people.
Her heartbeat quickened when she felt Wei Guang following after them and a moment later, he moved up behind her, his hands landing on the waistbelt that was keeping her nightdress in place.
"Let us take care of you tonight."
