Journey To Become an Insanely Pampered Wife

Chapter 135: The Mystery of Crown Prince’s Descent

Chapter 135: The Mystery of Crown Prince’s Descent

Xiang Ling’s fingers tightened their grip on the teacup as she listened to Fairy Liying’s words. Her grip became so hard that it eventually shattered the cup. Its broken parts dropped on the table and the hot tea spilled everywhere. Little shards of the cup pierced Xiang Ling’s delicate skin, cutting her palm in several places.

"Be careful, Supreme Immortal Xing!" Fairy Liying quickly used a spell to heal Xiang Ling’s palm before she repaired the tea cup with another quick and simple spell. "Anger will do you no good. You need to handle this situation with calmness." She told the woman while she cast one last spell to clean the spilled tea.

"Trust me, Fairy Liying, I’m really calm right now." Xiang Ling replied as she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply to relax. The fury that was burning inside her was so hard to control, but she knew that nothing good would happen if she decided to deal with the situation through her anger. She would only end up breaking Heavenly laws and getting into even deeper trouble than she already was.

After a few moments of silence and deep breathing, she opened her eyes and asked the Fairy. "Anything else that you still want to tell me?"

Fairy Liying quickly nodded her head before she revealed the rest of the information she had found during the past half month. "What I just told you - it was what I heard back that day in the Flower Palace. After our agreement, I tried to find some more information through my resources. You must already know that the Night Immortal is also going through his life tribulation in the Mortal Realm..."

Xiang Ling nodded her head in the affirmative. All the high-positioned Immortals of both the Heavenly Realm and the Celestial Realm were aware of this information.

"... from what my Fairy friends have told me, the Night Immortal was supposed to descend into the Mortal Realm on a secret mission. However, something happened during his descent and he ended up entering his life tribulation which forced him to be born as a mortal in this realm. There was nothing that could be done after that..."

Xiang Ling listened carefully as Fairy Liying continued talking, "... You must also know how close friends the Night Immortal and the Crown Prince are. Some of the Supreme Immortals who know the truth about His Highness’ disappearance, believe that His Highness descended into the Mortal Realm to look for his friend, the Night Immortal."

"What about the others? What do they think really happened?" Xiang Ling asked.

Fairy Liying let out a small sigh before she revealed. "The rest also agree with this theory. However, their question is - why did His Highness also end up in a life tribulation when he was supposed to descend into the Mortal Realm and look for his friend?"

A frown took over Xiang Ling’s expression as the mystery made her think about the situation and its countless possibilities. "They are right. Being born as a mortal would have only made his efforts to find the Night Immortal fruitless. If he indeed came here for his friend, choosing to undergo life tribulation makes no sense at all."

Fairy Liying nodded her head in agreement before speaking again. "That’s why some of the Supreme Immortals believe that something might have happened during his decent as well, just like what happened at the time of the Night Immortal’s decent."

Xiang Ling stared at Fairy Liying in shock. "Are you saying that something might be wrong with the Divine Portal? Is it broken?"

Fairy Liying slowly shook her head as she had no answer to that question. "This is all I know. Despite my constant efforts, my resources were unable to find anything more. I can’t infiltrate the Heavenly Royal Palace and the Supreme Immortals are only busy guessing. The real information is held in the hands of the Royal Family and the Supreme Elders."

Xiang Ling nodded her head in understanding. Turning her gaze toward the Fairy, she asked a question that she had been waiting to ask ever since their conversation began. "Mind to tell me exactly who are your resources? It’s almost scary to know that you succeeded in finding out so much about the secret conversation between the Supreme Immortals when no one should have known about them."

A knowing smile made its way to Fairy Liying’s lips as she answered, "You might not know it but the fairies who work in the palaces of the higher-ups know almost everything that happens within the four walls of their palaces. It’s just, that they choose to remain silent because of their loyalty."

Xiang Ling almost wanted to laugh out loud at the mention of the word - loyalty. What kind of loyalty was it if they spilled all the secrets to their fellow Fairies? Letting out a small sigh, she made a mental note to dismiss all the Fairies from her Palace as soon as she returned to the Celestial Realm.

"Thank you so much, Fairy Liying. You have provided some really useful information." She was really grateful to the Fairy. All this time, she kept thinking that the Heavenly Empress punished her so heavily out of anger when she found out that her son was missing, but only now did she find out that she had become a part of some huge conspiracy.

At this point, she could tell for sure that there were even more secrets hidden, and whatever was going on, she hadn’t even found out even a part of it yet. She needed to find someone who could answer her questions and provide her with as much information as possible. Someone who might know everything that was going on.

The term ’Fairy’ in this story doesn’t represent a Fairy like those in western fantasy novels. The Fairies in this story represent those spirit herbs, plants, flowers, and fruits, that reach a certain age and cultivation level before gaining their human form. They can either be males or females.
