Chapter 129: Pleasing To The Eyes
"Teach me a lesson? I wonder how?"
Xiang Ling stared at the newcomer who seemed surprised to see her there. Clearing his throat, he asked, "How come you are here?"
His question surprised the two men who immediately realized that their Lord was familiar with the woman whom they were trying to kick out of the place.
Letting out a small sigh, Xiang Ling replied, "I finally returned home after half a month only to find that two of my husbands have been spending way too much of their time outside. So, I just decided to go out and search for their whereabouts. Little did I know that I would experience the fate of being kicked out of my own lands. Tsk tsk."
While the grumpy guy looked confused, it didn’t take long for the good-looking guy to put two and two together. He immediately kneeled and forced his friend to do the same. "This subordinate apologies for his mistake. We deserve to be punished."
Dao Ming turned his sharp gaze toward the two men and replied to Xiang Ling’s complaint, "Dont worry. I will make sure that these two will learn their lesson."
Realizing that he was quite serious, Xiang Ling quickly tried to defend the poor men who seemed to be in deep trouble. "Just let them be. They were just doing their work. It’s good to know that there are people like them who are protecting my lands. Besides, how were they supposed to know who I was?"
She stepped closer to Dao Ming and added, "Moreover, I want you to reward this person instead of punishing him."
"Reward?" Dao Ming asked while arching one of his eyebrows high in question.
"En! He was really polite while talking to me. He has a calm and smart personality. Moreover, he’s quite pleasing to the eyes." Xiang Ling added the last sentence to tease the good-looking guy, completely forgetting that it would lead her into trouble.
A sharp gasp escaped her lips when she suddenly found herself being pulled into Dao Ming’s arms. His intense gaze was staring right into her eyes as he asked, "You find him pleasing to the eyes?"
Xiang Ling opened her mouth to say something but was too scared to say anything that would land the poor guy in more trouble than she had already created for him. She wouldn’t have predicted even in her dreams that she would witness a man getting possessive over her, and as she found herself under the watch of his gaze, she found herself liking the feeling of him being possessive of her.
While all these men clearly showed their interest in her, they all seemed quite too welcoming about the fact that she had more than one man in her life. She almost felt like she would never get to witness their possessive sides, but the current look on Dao Ming’s face was such a nice surprise to her.
Slowly, she shook her head in denial before she wrapped her hands around his shoulders and inched her face closer until her lips were mere centimeters away from his ear. "You are the only man here who can please my eyes."
When she pulled away to look at his face, she was surprised to see the intense gaze still there. However, instead of possessiveness, his eyes were filled with the intensity of pure desire. His eyes flickered to her lips for a moment before they returned to her eyes and Xiang Ling almost felt like he was going to kiss her right there and then.
Much to both her dismay and relief, he let go of her and stepped away all the while schooling his expression. He turned his attention toward the two men who were still kneeling there with their heads bent down. "Leave."
The two men immediately bowed their heads before they stood up and left without a single glance in their direction.
Xiang Ling let out a sigh of relief to see that Dao Ming wasn’t planning to hold those poor men at fault for their unintentional mistakes. Little did she know that they both were going to receive punishments later that night - one for his disrespect toward her, and the other for being pleasing to her eyes.
"Where is your friend?" Xiang Ling asked while looking around the area and pretending to be asking the question just on a whim.
"He’s here too." Dao Ming replied as he remained standing still in his position. His response made Xiang Ling turn her attention toward him and the surprise was quite evident on her face which made him add - "He has been helping in the construction of this place from day one."
Xiang Ling was surprised to hear that Xin Cheng had also been spending his time supervising the construction work of her Inn. She wasn’t expecting that from him. "You two... have done a really great job so far." She admitted while making her way back to the man who was following her every move with his eyes.
Their gazes locked and they stared at each other in silence for a while. The more she looked into his eyes, the weaker her knees were becoming. Realizing how dangerous it was to look at him like that, she quickly turned her attention away and found a topic to shift the atmosphere. "I will need a really big staff for this place. Any idea where I can find so many loyal people?"
Dao Ming looked thoughtful for a moment before he finally nodded his head. "There’s one place. You can find as many human and fairy slaves there as you want. But, whether they will be loyal to you or not, will depend on your performance."
Xiang Ling understood exactly what he was trying to say. She could only earn someone’s loyalty by giving them a reason to be loyal. Nodding her head in understanding, she asked, "What is this place?"
Dao Ming stared at her for a moment in silence as if he were trying to read her, and then he finally answered, "The Underground Slave Market."
