Chapter 113: The Distraction
Chapter 113: The Distraction
Fairy Liying was unable to hold back the smile that spilled on her lips as soon as she heard the words spoken by the Elder of the Wangjing Medical Sect. The old man was trying to smartly get information out of her about Chen Xiang Ling.
Putting a smile on her lips, she spoke, "All I know is that she’s not someone to be messed around with. As for what is her current level of cultivation, I think Elder will need to ask Lady Chen personally."
Her reply was just as smart as the Elder’s question and the old man realized it immediately. Letting out a little scoff, he returned to focus on his work.
"I wonder what Lady Chen looks like. Just her dazzling eyes and the way she conducts herself makes me believe that she is a great beauty." Another disciple spoke and he even carried a dreamy look on his face as if he was imagining Xiang Ling without the veil in his mind.
Liying just let out a sigh while shaking her head. These curious disciples reminded her of her past self. She could still recall how awestruck she was when she first got to see the Supreme Immortal Xing. While mortal Chen Xiang Ling was quite a good-looking woman, she was nowhere near someone who could make every man swoon over her. But the beauty of Supreme Immortal Xing was on an entirely another level.
Throughout the history of the five realms, there have been two divine clans with the most beautiful women - the Phoenix Clan, and the Elemental Star Clan. The current Phoenix Queen was over a hundred thousand years old and had lost the charm of her youth. That’s why, the day Supreme Immortal Xing took her human form, she became the most beautiful woman in all the five realms. Her beauty could only be described as enchanting, one could never take their eyes off her.
As Liying recalled the looks of the Mortal Xiang Ling, she couldn’t help but feel bad for her husbands who would never get to see just how ethereal-looking their current wife was.
But beauty was not the only thing Supreme Immortal Xing was known for. She was also one of the most powerful immortals in the Upper Realms as well as the youngest one to achieve the position of a Supreme Immortal.
Unlike the Mortal Realm, where mortals had to cultivate for hundreds of years to reach immortality, the people in the Upper Realms were already born as immortals. The immortals didn’t cultivate in ranks or levels, instead, their cultivation was based on years of spiritual qi they had gathered. This meant, the older the Immortal, the more powerful he/she would be.
However, there were still loopholes, for example - An Immortal who only had five hundred years of cultivation powers, but received another five hundred years of cultivation powers from someone else, in such case, he would possess a thousand years of cultivation and become more powerful compared to his fellow immortals who also had five hundred years of cultivation powers.
No one knew what the secret was behind Immortal Xiang Ling cultivating five thousand years of cultivation powers when she was only a thousand years old and gained her human form, but it made her a rare prodigy in the Upper Realms. Just in ten thousand years, she became a Supreme Immortal - the highest rank any Immortal could achieve in the Upper Realms if they were not the Kings and Queens of the Upper Realms.
Unfortunately, such a talent was met with an unfortunate event and ended up in the Mortal Realm. But that was not all, based on what Liying heard that day in the Flower Palace, this was just the mere beginning of the problems in Supreme Immortal Xing’s life.

"You are looking disturbed." Zhang Xuan commented as he suddenly appeared behind Xiang Ling before taking a seat next to her at the study table.
Xiang Ling let out a deep sigh before she replied, "That’s because I am disturbed. I have no time for you. Go and find someone else for your entertainment." She kept her gaze fixed on the scroll that was spread over the desk in front of her. Over two dozen books and scrolls were spread all over the desk where she had been reading them for the past several hours.
In response to her words, Zhang Xuan brushed a loose strand of her hair away from her face, forcing the woman to turn her attention toward him. "You look tired as well." His voice was so soft that Xiang Ling would have almost missed it if not for her enhanced hearing. The way he was looking at her with so much softness and care in his obsidian eyes, almost made her forget to notice the new appearance he was carrying this time.
Long black hair to match his black eyes, his facial features were softer than the last time and he was wearing a white robe to match his soft appearance of the day. It was like meeting a new person every time she saw him, and yet, she knew that he was still that same mysterious man who kept making his appearances in her thoughts every now and then.
Turning her attention away from him, she focused her gaze once again on the scroll. What she needed at the moment was a solution to the big problem, not a distraction.
Zhang Xuan also shifted his gaze toward the scroll and clicked his tongue before speaking, "So you are worried about this."
"You know something?" Xiang Ling asked as she turned her hopeful gaze once again toward the man beside her.
With a smile on his lips, he asked, "Do you think there’s anything I might not know about?"
Xiang Ling wondered just how profound the meaning behind his words was. Not wanting to read too much into his words, she spoke, "I have been trying to find an antidote for the poison. However, the poison contains a very unusual element."
