Chapter 452: Fierce Battle
“Impossible. The Chaotic Divine Domain is fraught with peril. Only those whose spiritual power has reached the peak of SSS-level and are about to undergo a transformation can enter to seek a breakthrough. What’s Ning Xuan’s Spiritual Power Level? Daring to enter that place would be suicide, wouldn’t it?” Gu Qingkong was the first to retort.
“It’s possible that Ying Yaoshi went to the Chaotic Divine Domain, but Ning Xuan is probably not there. According to my latest intelligence, something has happened to the Ying Family member who was attempting to break through to the Extraordinary Realm in the Chaotic Divine Domain. It’s highly likely that Ying Yaoshi is behind it. Don’t forget, his spiritual power has also reached the peak of SSS-level,” Mo Changsheng stated calmly.
“Even if Ying Yaoshi entered the Chaotic Divine Domain, it would be a suicide mission. Everyone knows his Companion Spirit is flawed. He’s probably afraid that the Ying Family member would seek revenge after breaking through to the Extraordinary Realm, which is why he took such a desperate risk. But doing so is like drinking poison to quench his thirst. It’s just a shame that if something were to happen to him, I’m afraid we wouldn’t have a suitable replacement to defend the Ten Thousand Meteor Star Domain Battlefield for some time,” Gu Qingkong said.
“Master Ren, why do you think Ning Xuan is in the Chaotic Divine Domain?” Ji Wuque asked, turning to Ren Pingsheng.
“Most of the Undead Warriors I sent on the mission have inexplicably lost contact. Two of them emitted a chip signal near the Chaotic Star Domain, but it was fleeting, making it difficult to pinpoint their exact location. And now, they’re completely unreachable,” Ren Pingsheng said, his expression grim.
To ensure the mission was foolproof, he had dispatched 52 SS-level Undead Warriors. They were the culmination of his decades of research—the strongest combat force the Myriad Phenomena Star River could currently deploy. Yet now, all of them were missing.
Ren Pingsheng had his men repeatedly investigate the scene, but they found no clues. The Undead Warriors had left no trace, as if they had never been there at all.
However, the trajectory data from their chips confirmed that was precisely where contact had been lost.
“Could it be that Ying Yaoshi discovered our plan, went to Beichen Star to get Ning Xuan, brought her to the vicinity of the Chaotic Divine Domain, and then entered it himself?” Gu Qingkong guessed.
“Ying Yaoshi didn’t go to Beichen Star. We’ve thoroughly investigated the site; there are no traces of him. Ning Xuan holds the key to the Chaotic Divine Domain. Could it be that she felt her life was threatened, activated the key herself, and teleported there?” Ren Pingsheng said.
While Gu Qingkong and the others were busy speculating on the whereabouts of Ning Xuan and Ying Yaoshi, Ning Xuan herself had run into trouble within the Chaotic Divine Domain.
“ROAR!” An Exotic Beast as massive as a small mountain and covered in purple fur bellowed at Ning Xuan’s group.
The thunderous roar sent a throbbing pain through Ning Xuan’s mind. The battle on Beichen Star, especially the act of extracting the chips from the brains of all the Undead Warriors in such a short period, had consumed a massive amount of her spiritual power.
Fortunately, she had been fully protected by the Ghost Vine while crossing the spatial rift into the Chaotic Divine Domain; otherwise, her Sea of Consciousness would have been severely damaged.
“Master, please get some rest. I will go slaughter it.” Black scales surfaced on Qinghe’s face and hands, his voice laced with killing intent.
He had been the primary combatant protecting Ning Xuan on Beichen Star, and had been on high alert for an extended period. After the battle, he was injured while crossing the spatial rift. Though not outwardly apparent, he was, in fact, not in good shape.
“Master, let us go.” The one who spoke this time was one of the three Undead Warrior captains, who had just been invisible. His original designation was 011. After Ning Xuan removed the control chip from his brain and asked his name, he chose to revert to his original one: Zeng Yu.
Of the 52 Undead Warriors sent by the Myriad Phenomena Star River, Ning Xuan had successfully removed the control chips from the brains of 47; the other 5 died during the procedure. Of those 47, two refused to sign a Blood Covenant with Ning Xuan and were killed by the combined efforts of Qinghe and Di Youlin. The remaining 45 were split into three teams, and Zeng Yu was one of the three captains.
Zeng Yu had volunteered for the task. Ning Xuan nodded. “Team One goes first. After twenty minutes, retreat and rest. Team Two will take over. This Exotic Beast is enormous and will likely be difficult to kill. We’ll use a war of attrition to wear it down slowly.”
Ning Xuan took out two vials of crystal-clear medicine, handing one each to Qinghe and Di Youlin for them to drink and treat their injuries. The two hesitated for a moment but ultimately followed her instructions.
Although these 45 Undead Warriors were only SS-level, they were all Half-beastmen with immense physical strength. Their bodies had been altered through countless experiments, granting them extremely powerful regenerative abilities. As long as their vitals weren’t struck, they were nearly impossible to kill.
Ning Xuan wanted to see their true capabilities for herself.
Zeng Yu led the charge. Just as he neared the Exotic Beast, a frigid aura erupted from him. The temperature in the surrounding area plummeted, and the falling raindrops froze into ice crystals in mid-air, clattering to the ground. He thrust out his palm, and a massive ice beast roared into existence. The enormous creature lunged ferociously at the Exotic Beast’s back.
The ice beast slammed into the Exotic Beast’s mountain-like frame, exploding in a shower of fine ice shards and a mist of blood.
The Exotic Beast took the full force of the blow, faltering only for a moment before charging forward with even greater fury.
A thick layer of frost formed on its back, but as it ran, its body heat caused the ice to melt, freeze, and melt again, releasing great plumes of white steam.
The other team members seized the opportunity to surround it. Each shifted into their bestial form and unleashed their Talent Skills, pinning the Exotic Beast down in a small area.
Although the SSS-level Exotic Beast was enormous, its hide thick and tough, making it incredibly difficult to kill, the Undead Warriors had the advantage of numbers.
Under the relentless assault of the 45 Undead Warriors, the Exotic Beast gradually weakened.
Two hours into the battle, RUMBLE—
The ground suddenly began to shake.
The Exotic Beast, which had been knocked to the ground and seemed on its last breath, staggered back to its feet.
As it stood, the Exotic Beast’s fur began to slough off, revealing the raw flesh beneath. The flesh squirmed and swelled at a visible rate, its bones POPPED and CRACKED, and its frame violently shot up in height. Its eyes began to glow with a scarlet, bloodthirsty light.
“Has it gone berserk?” Qinghe said grimly.
It had suddenly gone berserk. If they let it escape, there was no guarantee it wouldn’t return for revenge once it recovered. Ning Xuan made a split-second decision and joined the battle alongside Qinghe and Di Youlin.
Qinghe’s Black Dragon, Di Youlin’s Fire Phoenix, and Ning Xuan’s Companion Spirit, the Vermilion Bird, entered the fray simultaneously, quickly turning the tide of the battle. Through their combined efforts and after a fierce struggle, they finally managed to kill the Exotic Beast.
The moment the Exotic Beast showed no more signs of life, nearly everyone collapsed to the ground in exhaustion.
“So this is the Combat Power of an SSS-level being? That’s terrifying,” Di Youlin said, panting for breath.
