Chapter 451: Ying Yaoshi in the Chaotic Divine Domain
Mo Changsheng and the others quickly reached a consensus on the matter. They simultaneously sent a video call invitation to Ying Yaoshi. The line rang for a long time, but no one answered. The four of them exchanged glances, their expressions grim, and then dialed the public number for the Central Army.
The four of them all possessed top-level clearance, so a call from them on the public line could not be refused. The connection went through on the third ring.
“Sirs, what are your orders?” a Major General-level officer asked, saluting respectfully. He withstood the oppressive aura from the four men.
“The Elder Council has important military intelligence and needs to speak with General Ying. Patch us through to his private channel,” Mo Changsheng commanded.
“Yes, sir. One moment, please.” The officer hesitated for only a moment before agreeing.
Another series of rings sounded. After about a minute, the video connected, and a tall, slender figure appeared on the screen.
Mo Changsheng and the others stared, somewhat stunned. The person before them had delicate features, limpid blue eyes, shoulder-length blue hair, and skin as white and lustrous as jade. He was so young and had such a gentle disposition—clearly not Ying Yaoshi.
“Who are you? Where is Ying Yaoshi?” Ren Pingsheng couldn’t help but demand.
“I am General Ying’s assistant, Lan Xin. The General had some personal matters to attend to. In his stead, I am temporarily overseeing operations on the Ten Thousand Meteor Star Domain Battlefield. Elders, how may I help you?” Lan Xin’s cool and detached expression concealed a deep, suppressed fury. He knew who these men were, and he knew what they had done to his Master.
“Assistant? How outrageous! The Ten Thousand Meteor Star Domain Battlefield is of critical importance. How could Ying Yaoshi just abandon his post? Where did he go? Tell him to get back here immediately! Can he bear the responsibility if something goes wrong?” Mo Changsheng’s face was ugly as he stared at Lan Xin, the muscles in his face twitching with anger.
“My apologies, Elders. General Ying instructed me to inform you that someone has violated the Guardian Covenant established a century ago in an attempt to control the Divine Bloodline. He cannot stand aside in this matter. As for the Star Meteor Battlefield, the Marshal has already made meticulous arrangements. You needn’t concern yourselves,” Lan Xin replied, gazing coolly at the projected figures.
“We are acting for the continuation of our entire race! We just want her to produce more offspring, to give birth to more top-tier powerhouses. Who told her to be so young and stubborn? No, perhaps it’s not her fault. It’s people like you, hovering around her, who are deliberately obstructing this. Ning Xuan is still so young; she must have been deceived by you all!” Mo Changsheng’s expression was cold and sinister as he glared at Lan Xin.
“Lan Xin, you are nothing but a slave of Half-beastman blood. What right do you have to lead the Star Meteor Battlefield in Ying Yaoshi’s place? Since General Ying is not present, the Star Sky Council will immediately dispatch someone to take over,” Gu Qingkong added.
As Lan Xin’s Spiritual Power Level had risen, he had become able to voluntarily conceal his Half-beastman traits. Gu Qingkong and the others couldn’t tell what he was just by looking at him. However, they were well-informed about the people surrounding Ning Xuan and knew that both Lan Xin and Nine-tailed were Half-beastman slaves given to her by the Controller Protection Association. In fact, their own families had also produced offspring with Half-beastman blood. For the sake of their family’s reputation, however, they had secretly killed them all.
Who could have imagined that a Half-beastman slave would be able to raise his spiritual power to Level 3S?
“Regarding that threat, the Marshal’s instructions were for you to do as you please,” Lan Xin said unhurriedly.
This unflappable attitude of his, impervious to both threats and persuasion, infuriated Mo Changsheng and the others, but there was nothing they could do about him.
After ending the call, Lan Xin’s calm expression quickly darkened. He opened his Light Computer and looked at the grayed-out icon in his contact list labeled “Master.” He reached out and touched it, his brow furrowed with worry as he murmured in a low voice, “Master, you have to be okay.”
Just then, a BEEP BEEP BEEP sound rang out. It was a call from Yu Mingche.
Lan Xin’s expression tightened. He quickly pressed the answer key, and Yu Mingche’s virtual figure appeared before him.
Lan Xin dropped to one knee, placing his right hand over his chest in a salute. “Greetings, Lord Yu. I trust you are well.”
Yu Mingche’s abdomen was visibly swollen, and his face was etched with fatigue. “Lan Xin, why is it you? Where is Ying Yaoshi?”
Yu Mingche asked, his expression unfriendly.
“General Ying left the Star Meteor Battlefield two days ago. He instructed this subordinate to temporarily manage all affairs here,” Lan Xin answered honestly, his head bowed.
“Two days ago… did he leave any other instructions? Regarding the Lord Contract Master,” Yu Mingche asked.
“No, Lord Yu.” Lan Xin’s head was still bowed, his expression unreadable.
“Lift your head. Look at me. Lan Xin, do you know what Ying Yaoshi went to do?” Yu Mingche’s face was dark.
“I…” Lan Xin didn’t know how to answer. He had some idea of Ying Yaoshi’s whereabouts, but he couldn’t say.
However, Yu Mingche was Ning Xuan’s husband and had the right to dispose of a Contracted Slave like him. Lan Xin didn’t dare lie to Yu Mingche.
Just as Lan Xin was struggling for an answer, a klaxon blared inside the Starship—an emergency alert. An anxious voice followed. “General Lan, a large swarm of Star Beasts has appeared to the northwest! They’re attacking the defense network! The 7th Combat Readiness Unit requests reinforcements!”
“Go handle your duties,” Yu Mingche said before disconnecting the call.
Lan Xin breathed a small sigh of relief and immediately threw himself into the tense work of battlefield command.
Lan Xin’s Talent Skill, Water Mirror Heaven and Earth, Boundless Illusion Sea, was perfectly suited for battlefield control. Especially after his Spiritual Power Level rose to Level 3S and he gradually mastered its use, Lan Xin demonstrated a powerful ability for battlefield management and resource allocation.
This was precisely why Ying Yaoshi had been so insistent on having Lan Xin by his side.
After Mo Changsheng and the others learned that Ying Yaoshi was not at the Ten Thousand Meteor Star Domain Battlefield, they began to discuss where he could have gone.
“No need to guess. Ying Yaoshi must have gone to the Chaotic Divine Domain. In fact, I believe Ning Xuan is probably in the Chaotic Divine Domain right now as well,” Ren Pingsheng suddenly said.
