Chapter 61: Husky
Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Husky
Yang Bo was still completely covered in bombs. Since he hadn’t used up all the compensation from last time, he decided to bring along the Mechanical Weapons he had picked up previously. He also wanted to check on that goofy Silver Armor Rhinoceros while he was at it.
"Awesome!" This time, Yang Bo had directly bought a Mecha Flying Attachment. After setting the destination on the base’s dedicated platform—a place similar to an electromagnetic catapult—the Mecha was instantly launched into the air. The Flying Attachment activated, and with a WHOOSH, the Mecha disappeared from sight.
"Bastard!"
"That damn freak!"
"Ahhhhh!"
Eight players in Advanced Mechas stared in dumbfounded disbelief as the unconventional Blade Mecha vanished with a WHOOSH. They were all pulling their hair out in frustration.
"Gang Leader."
"Gang Leader?"
To their astonishment, the other members realized that the Gang Leader was no longer responding...
Yang Bo went straight to the Silver Armor Rhinoceros’s territory. It was a valley with a lake spanning several hundred acres. This was its domain.
As Yang Bo landed on the mountaintop, the Mecha’s alarm sounded. Following the radar, he saw the Silver Armor Rhinoceros poking half its head out of a cave entrance.
"Erha." Yang Bo felt that this Silver Armor Rhinoceros acted a bit like a goofy husky. It was smart in some ways, but at the same time, not very bright at all.
After calling out, he detached the Mecha Flying Attachment. These things were usually discarded after a single use anyway.
He then leaped down, landing a few hundred meters away from the Silver Armor Rhinoceros, and tossed the attachment over to the creature.
The Silver Armor Rhinoceros watched Yang Bo’s Mecha warily. Seeing the Mecha Flying Attachment land in front of it, it took a bite and ravenously devoured the whole thing.
"Tsk, tsk." Yang Bo watched in amazement. The materials used in that Flying Attachment were far from ordinary.
"Here comes another," Yang Bo shouted loudly, tossing out a Mechanical Weapon.
The Mechanical Weapon was made of even better materials and contained more Rare Metals. Yang Bo guessed that on this planet, unless the Silver Armor Rhinoceros managed to scavenge scrapped Mechas, it would rarely get to eat pure metal—let alone metals that were completely absent from this world.
"I’m leaving." For some reason, Yang Bo felt a sense of connection with this Silver Armor Rhinoceros. It definitely wasn’t because he thought the creature looked a bit silly and wanted to trick it or anything. No, absolutely not.
By using the Flying Attachment today, Yang Bo had caught two groups of people off guard. One was the group of eight Advanced Mechas, and the other was the Tiger-faced King.
The Tiger-faced King had gone to visit his neighbor. Seeing that the neighbor wasn’t home, he made himself comfortable as if it were his own place. Later, when he found out that his neighbor had been slain by Yang Bo, he directly looted everything in his neighbor’s territory, instantly making up for his previous losses.
"What the hell do I feed you for? Why didn’t you keep an eye on that jinx?
"If you mess up again next time, I’ll turn you all into jerky!
"A bunch of useless bastards! I’ve already raised the bounty to two Energy Ores!"
The Tiger-faced King cursed out his subordinates, wishing he could boil this bunch of bastards alive right then and there.
"Hurry up and find out what that jinx likes! We still have several other neighbors around," he barked.
This time, Yang Bo found a bat cave. Looking at the densely packed bats hanging from the ceiling, he felt overjoyed.
He set up a Miniature Hydrogen Bomb deep inside the cave, then returned to the entrance to plant another one.
The ground trembled slightly—that was the Miniature Hydrogen Bomb deep inside the cave. A few seconds later, the Miniature Hydrogen Bomb at the entrance also detonated, causing the cave mouth to collapse completely.
Sound Wave Control +1!
Sound Wave Control +1!
...A dense stream of notifications flooded his vision, mixed with quite a few for Dynamic Field of View.
He wondered, "Should I go check out the Underground World, get some more powerful bombs, and collapse an entire level? That way, I’d harvest even more."
Just then, the radar alarm went off. Yang Bo hurriedly activated his Rocket Backpack and flew into mid-air.
Then, Yang Bo was dumbfounded. The Silver Armor Rhinoceros appeared in the direction of the radar warning. Glowing with silver light, the creature poked half its head out of the cave, which was still billowing with dust.
But that wasn’t the important part. Beneath its foot was another Mutant that was seemingly still twitching. The Silver Armor Rhinoceros stared up at Yang Bo with its two small eyes.
"Erha?" Yang Bo called out tentatively, his voice broadcasting through the Mecha.
The Silver Armor Rhinoceros simply kicked the Mutant out of the cave entrance. It shook its head, and then vanished. Shortly after it disappeared, the cave mouth collapsed.
Not only was Yang Bo dumbfounded, but even the people watching from the base were stupefied. What the hell was this...
A second later, Yang Bo’s screen went black again. Inwardly, he was very satisfied with Erha’s reaction.
"I sure as hell won’t cut off my own source of wealth!" Yang Bo felt a bit exasperated. Without knowing what Superpower a Mutant possessed, he wouldn’t provoke them. If the opponent’s Superpower attribute clashed with his own, granting him some garbage ability, it would be much safer to just exchange the body for Game Coins instead.
"How did this Mecha Master pull that off?"
"Should we give it a try?"
"That Blade Mecha fed it the wreckage of eight Advanced Mechas. Are you sure you want to try? How much are eight Advanced Mechas worth, and how much is this bounty?"
In the control hall of Base 16, everyone had been buzzing with discussion after their initial shock. However, with just one sentence from the Commander, they all realized that an idea was just an idea—it simply wouldn’t work in practice.
After running to several different locations, Yang Bo finally upgraded his Sound Wave Control to the Grandmaster Level.
Sound Wave Control: Grandmaster (Sound Wave Attack boosted by 200%, Sound Wave Detection boosted by 200%, Sound Wave Shielding Interference boosted by 200%)
Looking at the skill, Yang Bo’s eyes lit up. He already knew how to use Sound Wave Attack and Detection, but he hadn’t yet grasped this Sound Wave Shielding Interference attribute.
"Made a neat little profit of eight hundred thousand Game Coins." After logging out of the game, Yang Bo was brimming with joy. That’s right, a live Mutant was worth eight hundred thousand. Of course, based on the selling price of the Mechanical Weapons he had tossed to the Silver Armor Rhinoceros, even ten lots of eight hundred thousand Gold Coins wouldn’t cover it. However, he had scavenged those as scraps anyway.
Yang Bo bought a speaker and a recording device online. He placed them a certain distance apart, attempting to figure out the Sound Wave Shielding Interference ability.
He carefully sensed the sound waves emitting from the speaker. Gradually, in Yang Bo’s perception, these invisible sound waves began to feel like water. The entire room was enveloped by the speaker’s sound waves.
Subconsciously, Yang Bo tried to whistle. Although no sound came out, he could feel an invisible fluctuation interfering between the recording device and the speaker.
He quickly turned off the speaker and played back the recording device.
ZZZT ZZZT ZZZT!
A segment had indeed been interfered with; the beautiful singing voice was completely gone. Yang Bo was so excited he almost jumped up.
"Since I can interfere with it, can I simulate or alter it?" Yang Bo’s eyes lit up. Of course, to simulate or alter someone else’s sound waves, he would first need to know their frequency.
He continued to ponder, "Actually, I can totally use sound waves like radar. Everyone has unique acoustic footprints when they walk or talk. Even the sound of everyone’s heartbeat is different. Once I figure this out thoroughly, no matter what kind of Disguise the opponent uses, I can instantly identify them without even needing active detection."
Yang Bo realized that even without using Sound Wave Detection, he could hear some movements from upstairs. His passive hearing range had expanded significantly.
