Chapter 60: Continue Farming Bats
Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Continue Farming Bats
When Yang Bo logged into the game, over a hundred Senators in the Alliance Senate were sporting grim expressions.
The Speaker completely lost his composure, cursing loudly, "What the hell is the security department getting paid for? It’s been days! How have you still not found any trace of the missing mechas?"
"Speaker, our security department has done everything we can. To protect their clients’ privacy, the Dimensional Modification Company wiped all the energy data of the Energy Mecha before putting it on display," a security department official explained meekly.
The expressions of the Senators below grew even uglier. From a legal standpoint, as well as in terms of client privacy and corporate confidentiality, the Dimension Company was entirely justified in destroying the energy frequency data of the Energy Mechas.
However, the esteemed Senators now felt a severe lack of security. They didn’t even dare to go out and party casually anymore. If they weren’t careful and a mecha suddenly popped out—especially one piloted by an Ace Mecha Master—how many lives would they need to survive the ensuing slaughter?
Did people really think the Alliance restricted Superpower Users from displaying their abilities on planets for the sake of the commoners?
Wrong. It was entirely for the safety of these esteemed gentlemen themselves. If Superpower Users were flying around everywhere, how could they guarantee their own safety? The Senators were certainly no match for professional Superpower Users, which was why using superpowers on planets was strictly prohibited.
Of course, it was allowed in designated areas. It was precisely because of these regulations that the Senators could put on a show of being close to the people in public spaces. Otherwise, if Superpower Users could use their powers at will, wouldn’t these officials need a mecha escort just to step outside? How would they project a man-of-the-people image then?
The recent martial law declared by the Alliance wasn’t actually about the threat of the Red Earl. The true threat was Yang Bo. Furthermore, Yang Bo had displayed absolute brutality at the Dome Entertainment City. When he finally made his escape, he had actually killed two defenseless people, even stomping them to death. Now, whenever the Senators went outside, they felt as if a giant mecha foot might drop from the sky at any moment.
"What about the investigations? Still nothing?"
"Too many people went missing this time. Although we did uncover a few clues after issuing the new decree, none of them were useful."
"What about the Dimension Company? Do they have a solution?"
"Not at the moment. The Dimension Company has brought in three new shareholders: the Ping An Technology Company, Anbang Bank, and the military."
Hearing this, the Senators glared at a specific group of people in the room, silently cursing those bastards for moving faster than they did.
"Furthermore, the Dimension Company claims that the energy frequency of every Dimensional Mecha is completely unique at the time of manufacture, so..."
"You have one month. We need to know the whereabouts of these mechas." The Speaker was also getting a massive headache over this.
"I demand the impeachment of the Chief Executive of Pado Star for obstructing the normal migration of citizens within the Alliance!" a Senator suddenly stood up and declared loudly.
The others exchanged glances. Alright, time to get down to business. In the interstellar era, population was extremely important. Regardless of citizen tier, Genetic Evolvers needed to consume goods and pay taxes. Even a bunch of useless residents were valuable, because the higher the population, the greater the welfare funds allocated.
As for the claim that residents couldn’t emigrate? First of all, there were plenty of fake residents like Wu Bin, simply because the resident welfare benefits were so good.
Additionally, as long as one had money, even genuine deadbeats could travel across the stars—it all just came down to the price. Otherwise, what would the high-tier citizens do with their children?
Housing renovations, food rations, clothing, utility bills, internet fees, public transportation investments, and so on...
The more useless residents there were, the more tax money was spent. And when that money passed through their hands... *cough*, at the very least, they could find someone to set up a shell company, monopolize a project, and siphon subsidies just three days after incorporation without a hitch.
This type of resident represented long-term profits—decades upon decades of steady income. The Senators began to bicker and shout, practically coming to blows, falling just short of taking off their shoes and throwing them at each other.
After Yang Bo logged into the game, he didn’t immediately go out to hunt small animals because he felt something was off.
Time and time again, all he wanted to do was farm some small animals. Was that so wrong?
He set a fire and flushed out a B-tier Infiltrator.
He went blast fishing and blew out a horde of Mutants.
He blew up some bats and drew out another group of guys, and the last time he got lost, he ran into Mutants again.
Yang Bo carefully reviewed the footage. The last time he was chased by the Silver Armor Rhinoceros, it was entirely because of those Advanced Mechas. Those mechas had flown right over his head, and then the Silver Armor Rhinoceros appeared out of nowhere.
He was in the valley at the time, and the rhino was clearly chasing in the direction of the Advanced Mechas. It had already bypassed him, only stopping and turning around to pursue him when it finally noticed his presence.
Then, those Advanced Mechas ended up as wreckage in the valley, and the Silver Armor Rhinoceros inexplicably clashed with the Mutants...
"Could it be that those Mutants and Advanced Mechas were targeting me?" Yang Bo pondered carefully, quickly arriving at a conclusion.
The Mutants made sense, given they were hostile factions. But why would the Advanced Mechas target him? Did they just have nothing better to do?
Setting the matter aside, Yang Bo decided to thoroughly study the game’s intel first. He couldn’t be sure if all the game’s data was authentic, but at least a portion of it had to be real, right?
Players remotely controlled mechas to plunder resources—that was the true purpose of this game. Therefore, the operators had to provide some genuine information.
After researching carefully, Yang Bo discovered that the game only provided data and maps for specific regions, not the entire planet.
The main hostile forces were the Mutants, who operated under a Lord mode. A Mutant boss commanded a faction of subordinates, and wars frequently broke out between different Mutant groups.
Then there were the mutated monsters. Some operated in Lord mode, while others acted as lone wolves.
"I still need to farm bats." Yang Bo’s primary target remained the bats to obtain support abilities like Sound Wave Control.
Besides, the bats were easy targets, gathering in massive swarms inside caves. In contrast, the electric eels were not only located in deep water but were also solitary creatures. As for Light Energy Control, he hadn’t yet spotted any Fluorescent Poison Frogs or similar creatures.
Yang Bo carefully watched his mecha’s footage from last time again. When he had gone looking for the bats, an Advanced Mecha had flown ahead of him.
"Did that bastard chase the bats away?" Yang Bo suddenly realized a possibility.
Since he had a theory, he now had a countermeasure.
"Scum, you piece of trash, you bastard!" What Yang Bo didn’t know was that outside the base, eight players piloting Advanced Mechas were on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Last time, their eight Advanced Mechas were blown to pieces by Mutants. Some of the players had been so traumatized they even had to see a therapist. Losing the mechas was a minor issue; the real problem was that these guys had been live-streaming on the forums, promising to teach that pervert "Bird Slayer Brother" a lesson.
Who would have thought that Bird Slayer Brother would be perfectly fine, while their own mechas were destroyed? The financial loss of the mechas meant nothing to them—they could just pay for new ones. But their pride was on the line! Anyone who could switch between hundreds of IPs just to mess with Bird Slayer Brother was, at the very least, a wealthy second-generation heir. Thus, the eight of them were stubbornly camping here.
"He’s here, he’s here! That pervert is out!" When the good news arrived, the group instantly perked up.
"We’re definitely going to show him this time."
"Yeah, that damn pervert."
"We have to expose his real address!"
