Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 47: Lost!

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Lost!

These guys were all lunatics, and Yang Bo had no desire to stand against them. Moreover, he suspected they had already infiltrated the military. If they actually took control of the Fleet, it would be an absolute disaster.

"I should log into the game to improve my strength first. Once houses can be traded, I’ll take a good look at my Blade Mecha. I haven’t even had the chance to examine it properly," Yang Bo thought. He was currently out of options. He had looked into it and found out that residents could leave the planet, but it required a special seat—something usually only equipped on private spaceships.

Logging into the game, Yang Bo decided to grind his Disguise ability first. He wanted to see if he could eventually completely transform into another person.

Threatened by the Red Earl, Liu Zhijie was swearing profusely as he read the news. On the surface, the Anzhijie company operated on a branch model, but in reality, it was an agency model. The amount of territory the headquarters allocated depended entirely on how many people someone like Liu Zhijie had under their command.

The extremist rhetoric from the Red Earl left everyone in a state of panic. The critical issue was that the planetary lockdown had been extended. Many powerful and influential figures wanted to leave, but the process was incredibly troublesome. Private spaceships could be cleared for departure, but the application and review processes were agonizingly slow. Furthermore, these people hadn’t yet liquidated their assets, and leaving empty-handed was a bitter pill to swallow.

What infuriated Liu Zhijie the most was that the company couldn’t operate normally, which meant he was going to lose a massive amount of money. Recruiting new members wasn’t going smoothly either. Strangely, the residents seemed completely indifferent to the Red Earl’s threats. Without any company missions, his subordinates were also getting anxious; after all, money was needed for every aspect of life.

"Damn it, if this keeps up, I’ll apply for a transfer. I’m done with this hellhole," Liu Zhijie muttered. He directly contacted headquarters to inquire if there was space on any other planets, contemplating just packing up and moving.

He wasn’t the only one; many companies were preparing to relocate. The Red Earl had lost a War General here and would undoubtedly seek revenge. What if another incident happened? The Red Earl’s people were all maniacs, and everyone could end up dead.

Meanwhile, that poor sap Yang Bo was still planning to buy a house. However, he had already logged into the game.

"Where should I go?" Yang Bo wondered, looking at the data provided by the base. He couldn’t go to the lake—he had killed their people there. He couldn’t go to the bat area either, for the exact same reason. "I’d better head to the underground entrance."

Recalling how he had been utterly crushed by long-range Mechas during training, he felt a lingering dread of wide-open spaces. The underground entrance was the gateway to a series of subterranean karst caves in this game world, or rather, this planet. It was the territory of Mutated Beasts and Mutants.

He brought along four Miniature Hydrogen Bombs and four Shock Wave Bombs. He planned to keep at least two of the Miniature Hydrogen Bombs on his person at all times to act as suicide explosives. In the cramped confines of the Underworld, if he encountered a tricky opponent, he could always take them down with him.

"It’s a pity I’m broke," he muttered to himself. "If I had the money, I’d strap myself full of Miniature Hydrogen Bombs and charge straight into the Mutants’ lair. Hehe." Yang Bo’s imagination ran wild with glee as he traveled.

The Mutants’ lair was heavily concealed. No one knew its exact location; otherwise, the Rail Cannons would have already opened fire. Arriving smoothly at the underground entrance, Yang Bo sighed emotionally. This was the very place where he had made his fortune. This time, his main goal was to grind his Disguise skill.

Entering the subterranean passage, Yang Bo resolved to stick around the first floor and absolutely avoid going down to the second. Observing the narrow environment of the passage and glancing at the bombs covering his body, an idea struck him. He stowed the Mecha’s left-hand Energy Shield on his back, pulled out a Miniature Hydrogen Bomb, and gripped his Plasma Great Saber in his right hand. He was ready to toss a Hydrogen Bomb and make a run for it at a moment’s notice.

As he began his slow exploration, Yang Bo decided to set up bait first by hunting down some larger animals. What he didn’t know was that shortly after leaving the base, he had been spotted by Mutants. The bounty placed by the Tiger-faced King was incredibly tempting. Since Yang Bo hadn’t shown up recently, the Tiger-faced King’s subordinates had grown quite anxious.

The underground passages extended in all directions. Seeing Yang Bo enter the entrance from afar, one of the subordinates hurried back to report. Upon receiving the news, the Tiger-faced King passed down the order, and numerous Mutants began advancing through the tunnels. However, they made a critical miscalculation: they assumed Yang Bo would be on the second floor or deeper, since there was absolutely nothing of value on the first floor.

Meanwhile, Yang Bo realized he was lost. The radar was clearly ineffective in these underground passages. He had grown careless, having become too accustomed to relying on it. The further he walked, the more something felt off. When he tried to retrace his Mecha’s footprints, he found that water had washed away the tracks in several areas.

BOOM!

A sudden explosion startled Yang Bo. The ground shook violently, and small animals scattered in every direction. "What was that explosion?" he wondered, entirely puzzled.

In reality, it was the Mechas on the second and third floors clashing with the Tiger-faced King’s subordinates, who had run into them while searching for Yang Bo. After a brief moment of hesitation, Yang Bo sprinted in the opposite direction of the blast. He had no desire to scavenge for easy loot, nor did he want to risk damaging his Mecha. If this thing broke, the repair fees would cost a fortune.

RUMBLE!

Another deafening blast echoed from the same direction, sending tremors through the earth once more. Yang Bo felt a wave of relief. He didn’t know what was going on over there, but it definitely wasn’t anything good.

He deliberately walked through watery areas to cover his tracks, but as a result, he became completely lost. What initially looked like a massive tunnel eventually narrowed down until it became impassable.

BOOM!

"That’s the eighth time. Who’s that unlucky? Or are they sieging some powerful Mutated Beast?" Yang Bo thought as he heard yet another explosion. Sound traveled incredibly far in the Underworld.

"Huh?" Suddenly, Yang Bo’s eyes lit up. He stumbled upon a Celestial Pit, but that wasn’t the important part. The Celestial Pit was shrouded in mist, and in the jungle below roamed herds of wild bison. They looked similar to regular bison, except they had no horns. Zooming in his vision, Yang Bo realized their horns looked as if they had been sawed off.

"Could they be raised by Mutants?" he wondered. He did a quick radar scan before shutting it off, carefully reviewing the data it had just captured. "One thousand two hundred and twenty-one of them."

His mouth practically watered as he stared at the numbers. These wild bison possessed abilities that boosted physical constitution! If he slaughtered all of them, wouldn’t he become like Superman?

"But I don’t see any Mutants," he thought. He carefully examined the Celestial Pit. It was roughly eighty kilometers in diameter, and its depth was unknown since the sky wasn’t visible. His Mecha was perched more than thirty meters above the pit’s floor.

Yang Bo searched meticulously. The radar was useless against certain Mutants, and some were even highly sensitive to its detection waves. One hour passed. Then two.

"Are there really so many bison left entirely unguarded?" he thought anxiously.

Just then, a flash of silver-white caught his eye. He zoomed in the camera and spotted a figure carrying a five-meter-long Mecha arm. That thing had to weigh at least a dozen tons! Yet, a person clad in black Battle Armor, standing nearly three meters tall, was carrying it with effortless ease.

The person’s face looked suspiciously like a pig’s snout. It bore a striking resemblance to Pigsy, as played by actor Xu back on Earth. Soon after, a second, third, fourth, and fifth figure emerged. All of them were carrying Mecha parts—legs, arms, and heads.

"Tsk, tsk. This Mecha doesn’t look cheap," Yang Bo muttered to himself.

Suddenly, a low, resonant sound echoed through the air. Yang Bo watched as the hornless bison slowly began to herd themselves in a single direction.

"What kind of technique is this? Beast Taming or conditioned reflex?" His eyes widened as he spotted a Mutant blowing into some sort of instrument.
