Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 38: Forced to Join

Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Forced to Join

Yang Bo heard Liu Zhijie exclaim. In the crowd, quite a few people leaped into the air, flying into the distance like shooting stars.

The next second, a dense volley of light beams descended, landing directly on those who had taken flight. Their entire bodies were blown to pieces.

"Get inside! All of you, get inside! Anyone who refuses will be killed on the spot!" a mecha roared while laying down suppressing fire.

"What a bunch of lunatics," Liu Zhijie cursed.

"Hurry, get in!" Despite his cursing, Liu Zhijie dropped that single sentence and darted away, completely ignoring Yang Bo.

Yang Bo also rushed toward Dome Entertainment City. Hearing continuous explosions behind him, he glanced back and saw many anti-gravity cars being blown apart. Some even erupted into small mushroom clouds, leaving him to wonder what kind of batteries they used.

Yang Bo was practically squeezed inside by the crowd. Right in the exhibition hall he usually cleaned, he saw several people carrying multiple others, leaping dozens of meters at a time to swiftly enter the building.

Several police cars were shot until they exploded. The only weapon Yang Bo recognized was the high-frequency laser gun.

"Listen up, everyone! We have hostages, take a look," a booming voice suddenly rang out. On the billboard originally located outside the exhibition hall, a red-haired man wearing medieval armor appeared. He wore an ancient helmet, and his red cape was particularly striking. In his hand, he held an ancient sword, though this sword glowed with a blue light.

In front of this man knelt a conspicuously well-dressed, plump white man. The plump man’s face was deathly pale.

"This is the Speaker of your Alliance’s Upper House. Go ahead and use the rail cannon if you have the guts! And look over here, see this? We also have a few distinguished guests: a shareholder of Ping An Technology Company, a shareholder of Antai Bank, and a diplomat from the Crimson Federation. Tsk, tsk." The man in the knight’s armor pointed his sword at these people one by one.

"We of the Red Earl have been silent for years. Today, I announce our return! Such a grand moment must be celebrated with blood." The red-haired knight made an exaggerated gesture of raising both hands.

Then, swinging the sword in his hand, he pointed it at the shareholder of Antai Bank. "You bunch of vampires, die!"

On the large screen, the Antai Bank shareholder was dragged forward and forced to his knees. Only then did people notice that there were quite a few others dressed similarly. However, while the others wore black armor, this red-haired young man wore silver armor.

Then, right in front of everyone’s eyes, the shareholder was decapitated.

Many were stunned by this scene, which was immediately followed by a surging rush of the crowd. Yang Bo was squeezed relentlessly. Suddenly, he felt something was wrong and realized he had been pushed right up against the Blade mecha.

Then, Yang Bo felt a strange sensation. The Blade mecha seemed to resonate with him. It was a bizarre feeling, as if he could control the mecha.

Outside Dome Entertainment City, those who hadn’t made it inside in time were mercilessly slaughtered by a barrage of indiscriminate lasers. Yang Bo noticed that when ordinary people were hit by the lasers, it left a massive, scorched hole in their bodies. But when genetic evolvers were hit, they actually combusted into flames?

"Is it because of the inherent energy within genetic evolvers?" Yang Bo wondered.

Whether a fire had started somewhere or something else went wrong, the fire suppression system suddenly activated, spraying out countless amounts of foam. Or perhaps the system had simply malfunctioned.

"Everyone, get into the concert venue! Anyone not inside in twenty minutes will die!" another voice suddenly roared.

The crowd swarmed frantically toward the concert venue. Meanwhile, Yang Bo stroked the Blade mecha, carefully feeling its presence.

With a sudden stir in his mind, the Blade mecha vanished. However, with so much fire-suppressant foam covering the scene, no one noticed.

Yang Bo was a bit bewildered. He could still sense the mecha, as if he shared some kind of connection with it. It felt like the mecha was far away, yet at the same time, incredibly close.

It was like a magical artifact from a novel; he could perceive the mecha’s status, noting that it was powered on.

It felt as though he could summon it to fight at any moment.

"Could it be because I absorbed the energy stone of the mecha space button?" Yang Bo muttered in his heart.

THUMP THUMP THUMP!

At that moment, a series of heavy, thudding vibrations came from beneath the ground. In the distance, sealed manhole covers of the sewer system blew into the air, spewing out massive plumes of smoke and dust.

"Haha! Not only have we blown up the underground pipe network, but we’ve also added a lot of ’good stuff’ into it. If you don’t want the entire city’s population poisoned to death, I suggest you deal with it quickly," the red-haired knight on the billboard laughed uproariously.

"Sin will eventually be judged.

"Glory will eventually shine upon the earth.

"We are just, brave, fearless..." The red-haired guy held his sword vertically against his chest, rambling on about something.

Yang Bo couldn’t care less about anything else. Following the flow of the crowd rushing upward, he looked through the massive glass windows and saw mechas appearing in the distance. These mechas were uniformly silver, clearly standard-issue military equipment. The sky was filled with countless bright dots that gradually grew larger as robots were continuously air-dropped onto the ground.

The entire planet was now in chaos. Because Dome Entertainment City utilized a high-tech shielding system, all reconnaissance equipment was completely blind to what was happening inside. This anti-interference, anti-shielding system was originally designed for projecting atmospheric backgrounds.

As for Dome Entertainment City’s control center, it had already lost contact with the outside world.

Upon reaching the floor of the control center, an idea struck Yang Bo. The fire suppression foam had stopped spraying, but the ground was still covered in it.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Yang Bo slipped into a shop next to the control center. He ducked under a counter, swiftly stripped off all his clothes, and confirmed that he had indeed achieved invisibility.

His wristband had no signal, likely due to the shielding. He powered the device off and hid it, along with his clothes and pants.

Yang Bo carefully avoided the fire suppression foam. Fortunately, there wasn’t much left in this area.

He successfully entered the control center. Seeing the violently breached security door, Yang Bo proceeded with even greater caution.

A security guard covered in blood lay dead on the floor. At the end of the corridor stood a figure clad in black battle armor holding a laser gun, their face completely encased in metal armor.

Seeing that the other party hadn’t noticed him, Yang Bo paid close attention to his footing. The person in battle armor glanced left and right.

Seizing the opportunity, Yang Bo slipped into an open room, only to be startled as soon as he entered. A man lay face up with his eyes wide open and a gaping hole in his chest. It looked like he had been attacked by some sort of cold weapon.

This place must have been some kind of administrative department. Seven or eight people lay dead in the room. Some had holes in their heads, while others were wounded elsewhere. Judging from the marks, they had all been shot by laser guns. The walls were also riddled with holes.

Yang Bo made his way to the pantry. Finding it empty, he breathed a sigh of relief. He hid in a concealed corner before deactivating his invisibility, as maintaining it consumed a lot of energy.

Looking at his current state of undress, Yang Bo really wanted to find a piece of cloth to cover himself, but decided to drop the idea.

"I’ll just wait for this to blow over," Yang Bo told himself, preparing to bide his time until the situation resolved. With so many people here, it was impossible for the attackers to kill them all.

"Captain, it’s done.

"We’ve planted the high-radiation bombs. The military will definitely dispatch powerhouses here to seize the control center’s authority as soon as possible."

"Damn it..." Yang Bo cursed inwardly at the sound of the two voices from outside.
