Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 35: Strike First

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Strike First

"To thank us for our contributions to this event, the organizers specially gave us ten concert tickets. Anyone interested can draw lots for them. These are complimentary tickets and are non-transferable." When Yang Bo arrived at the company, he saw that there were actually over twenty people present.

"Boss, are you looking down on us? We bought our family’s tickets a long time ago."

"Yeah, yeah, we bought ours ages ago."

A few people spoke up. In the end, the tickets were distributed among those who hadn’t bought them yet, leaving quite a few leftover.

"How is the work going?" Liu Zhijie asked, having dismissed the senior employees and asked Yang Bo to stay behind.

"Thank you, boss. I feel great about it." Yang Bo nodded. In the past, Liu Zhijie had seemed like just another small-time boss in Yang Bo’s mind, but now, this guy appeared to be a very dangerous existence.

As Yang Bo spoke, the Sound Waves bouncing back told him that the boss in front of him was distorted, which represented a very strong Energy Field around him.

Now, Yang Bo felt that the description of so-called Genetic Evolvers was somewhat inaccurate. He could charge himself with electricity—could he still be considered human? Yet, he was indeed human. How could this be explained?

The concert lasted for five days, from eight to twelve every night. Yang Bo had snagged a ticket for the third day.

"That’s good. Keep up the good work. The company will consider your next training plan." Liu Zhijie was very satisfied.

"Thank you, boss." Yang Bo currently had no intention of leaving Anzhijie. Although the company handled dirty work, it didn’t matter as long as he could live comfortably.

Moreover, a company like this was perfect for hiding his identity. After all, nobody dared to investigate this kind of company—who knew if digging too deep might lead straight back to their superiors?

Yang Bo had recently discovered that class stratification in this world was incredibly severe. The top five hundred companies in the Alliance hadn’t changed in five hundred years, which spoke volumes.

As for the political families, power was essentially just passed back and forth between them. However, Yang Bo had no thoughts of rebellion.

Now that he had money, he could get married if he wanted to. As long as you paid, there were companies with specialized technology to ensure your offspring’s health. There were even people selling the eggs of female Genetic Evolvers. In other words, as long as you had the cash, any service could be provided. Buying such an egg gave your offspring a certain chance of naturally awakening as a Genetic Evolver.

As for the exact probability of two married Genetic Evolvers passing down their genes to their offspring, there was no public data. However, Yang Bo knew it existed...

But Yang Bo didn’t plan on getting married anytime soon. He harbored many secrets and faced plenty of troubles—like the people Tracking him last time, and the red-haired man in the community this time.

At work that night, Yang Bo was absent-minded. It was only after his shift ended that he slapped his forehead in realization. "How could I be so stupid? If the red-haired guy showed up in the community, it means he lives here!"

Yang Bo felt he sometimes overcomplicated things. However, the community was massive, spanning at least a hundred acres.

Since it wasn’t a good idea to go around asking where someone lived, there was only one dumb method left: wait!

Yang Bo returned to his apartment and went up to the rooftop garden. This building served as the dormitory for the Anzhijie company, and the rooftop garden was available for company employees to use. However, Yang Bo had never been up there before.

He initially thought he would have to wait a while, but to his surprise, the moment he stepped into the garden, he spotted a blond man and a red-haired man on a distant rooftop garden.

The red-haired man sensed someone looking at him and casually glanced over. He then turned to his companion and said, "When we evacuate after making our move the day after tomorrow, we should grab that resident on the roof over there. He’s worth thirty million Credit Points."

"Thirty million? A resident?" his blond companion asked, his tone filled with surprise even though his expression remained unchanged.

"Yes. He probably has some kind of secret. We’ll take him away first and see what it is," the red-haired man continued.

"Understood. Is everything ready?"

"Of course. Let the feast begin. We’ve been dormant for hundreds of years. It’s time to let the world know us again," the red-haired youth said, standing ramrod straight.

Observing this scene from afar, Yang Bo frowned slightly. He strolled around for a bit and then went downstairs.

"Should I use Invisibility and go over to take a look?" Yang Bo muttered to himself.

He was uncertain about exactly how effective his Invisibility Ability was. Checking his Game Coins, Yang Bo gritted his teeth, converted them into Credit Points, and bought a detector worth three million Credit Points.

According to Yang Bo’s understanding, since Invisibility was called Invisibility, it shouldn’t be easily detected. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be Invisibility—it would just be a Disguise.

This was a miniature detector with no networking capabilities. It was a major brand with multiple detection functions, primarily used in shielded areas like security agencies, laboratories, and the like.

It looked a lot like a handheld Metal detector from Earth. Yang Bo read the instructions, took the device, and walked into the bathroom.

He switched it to general mode and watched as he disappeared from the mirror. In fact, looking at himself with his naked eyes, he was completely gone.

The detector didn’t beep. Yang Bo stopped his Invisibility, and then his finger lit up.

BEEP BEEP BEEP! The detector went off.

On second thought, these guys were out in the open compared to him, making them much easier to deal with.

Thus, Yang Bo decided to skip sleeping. Once he was fully charged, he headed to the Dome Entertainment City.

"These people definitely wouldn’t come here just to wander around, let alone have several of them wandering around together. Let’s see if I can find anything out here." Yang Bo found a casual teahouse with a vantage point overlooking the direction of his community.

"What a shoddy Disguise," Yang Bo noted when he spotted a blond man. He could tell at a glance that these guys shared a similar aura.

Of course, there were plenty of blond men in this world, and many handsome guys as well. But these people gave Yang Bo a strong sense of fakeness. Their smiles were fake, and even the way they walked seemed artificial.

"One!"

"Two!"

"Here comes the red-haired guy."

After seeing three of them arrive one after another, Yang Bo moved to another spot. He wanted to see exactly what these guys were doing here.

The crowd was large, and Yang Bo was wearing glasses designed to prevent Energy Interference. Sure enough, this time the other party didn’t notice him watching them.

"The Disguise ability is simply too powerful," Yang Bo thought to himself, feeling quite pleased. From the beginning, he knew that in a high-tech society, this passive Skill would be incredibly useful, allowing him to see through anyone’s Disguise at a glance.

"The Control Center?" Yang Bo strolled around for a few hours. The guys seemed to be wandering aimlessly, just like tourists.

However, they appeared near one location more frequently than the others: the Control Center. How did Yang Bo know it was the Control Center? Because there was a sign that read, "Control Center Restricted Area. Tourists Keep Out."

"Are these guys not targeting me?"

"But can an ordinary person breach the Control Center?" Yang Bo muttered inwardly.

"I’ll head back to the community first and see how many of them live there. Once these guys leave tomorrow, I’ll take a risk and sneak in to investigate." Yang Bo sensed that these people had some serious backing if they dared to target this place. In that case, he needed to take the initiative and strike first.
