Chapter 350: Looking Around
Chapter 350: Looking Around
"Almost every weapon in this room is of fine quality, so if anything piques your attention, you can freely choose it. However, I do suggest that you stick to the weapon you’re familiar with."
Feng Haoran advised as he saw Yi Chen looking all around the room in a patient manner.
"Yes, Patriarch." Yi Chen responded briefly as his eyes carefully scanned all the weapons that were on the walls, placed in the racks and spread on the table.
There was indeed a lot of variety to choose from, and from the metallic sheen each one of them was emitting, there was no question about their quality.
However, holding onto his desire to find a diamond in this sea of gold, he continued going through each one of their status panels in order to find something unique.

"That’s pretty suitable for you." Feng Haoran said as he saw Yi Chen scrutinising the Red Storm Blade, "Not only is that a sword which is something you’re skilled with, but it also possesses the ability to increase the intensity of your attack."
Hearing Feng Haoran’s words, Yi Chen grew curious and asked, "May I know how it will increase the intensity of my attack and by how much?"
"As you’re aware, for a normal sword, the denser the Qi with which you’ll lace its blade while attacking, the stronger the strike would be.
With a blade like this that’s made of Fire Metal, that Qi requirement is reduced by five to ten per cent for a strike with the same intensity.
Moreover, when you’re combining a martial technique with your swordsmanship, then the final attack would also be twice as strong as one produced from a normal blade."
"Twice as strong?" Yi Chen asked with an impressed expression on his face.
"Indeed. So how about it? Would you like to choose this one as your first item?" Feng Haoran asked with a smile.
"Ah...I’ll take a look at all the other items present in the treasury before making that decision." Yi Chen answered after a brief pause.
Although the sword was a little attractive, when compared to the Radiant Thunder Sword, he already possessed it, so it wasn’t something he would like to give up his two choices for.
"Haha, I understand your sentiments," Feng Haoran lightly chuckled, seeing the hesitant expression on Yi Chen’s face and said, "You want to make the best out of the two choices you’ve been granted by the elders. Come then, I’ll take you to the other rooms then."
"Alright..." Yi Chen nodded and followed after Feng Haoran. By now, he had scanned through the status panels of the dozens of weapons and had realised that they all were mostly giving the same sets of advantages in a different manner.
’All the good stuff would have already been taken by the Huo Clan...so it’s understandable.’ Yi Chen thought to himself as he saw Feng Haoran pushing open a set of closed doors, and a bright light invaded Yi Chen’s eyes the next second.
"Come. The artefact room is on the other side of this Spirit Herb Garden." Feng Haoran waved his hand towards Yi Chen, seeing that he had recovered his eyesight.
"Y-yes..."
Yi Chen nodded and walked alongside him while curiously looking around the room that was the size of an Olympic swimming pool.
They were currently walking on a raised muddy ground that was just wide enough to allow two people to walk shoulder to shoulder.
On the two sides of the pathway was an expanse of ploughed soil that was divided into various sections.
Plenty of different colours popped into Yi Chen’s eyes as he glanced upon the various types of plants that were growing all around him.
Raising his head the next second, he saw a ceiling that was covered with luminous stones that engulfed the entire area in bright light.
’No wonder it’s so warm in here...’ Yi Chen thought to himself while curiously glancing around at the various herbs that entered his view while checking their status panels one at a time.
======== STATUS ========
Name: Ten Sun Leaves
Maturity: 108 years remaining
Remark: An important ingredient for Revitalising Fire Pill [Regenerate: 10,000 EXP]

Noticing the interest with which Yi Chen was glancing at all the spirit herbs around him, Feng Haoran said, "Sadly, none of the rare ones is even close to maturity; otherwise, I would have suggested you take a few of them.
Pill Masters are always crazy about rare herbs, so if you were to provide something rare to the Pill Masters at the Heavenly Azure Dragon Sect, then you would have easily been able to win their favour."
"I see...Are all the old ones already harvested?" Yi Chen asked after a short nod, even though he was somewhat able to guess the reason behind this situation.
"Yes, a few decades ago, because of some circumstances, we had to give up on a lot of treasured herbs. However, that doesn’t matter anymore!"
Feng Haoran’s voice, which had started to lower a little, intensified once again as he energetically patted Yi Chen’s back and exclaimed, "With someone as talented as you with us, it’s only a matter of time before this place is thriving again with treasured spirit herbs!"
"... I’ll try my best." Yi Chen said with a forced smile while feeling a stinging pain on his back.
"Haha, don’t stress too much about it." Feng Haoran chuckled, misinterpreting Yi Chen’s expression, and continued, "Once you’ve been accepted into the Heavenly Azure Dragon Sect, naturally many from the noble clans are going to flood our clan with a variety of gifts. So just keep focusing on your cultivation as you are doing right now."
"I understand." Yi Chen nodded in understanding while thinking to himself, ’I wonder what portion of that you’ll be taking for yourself though...’
A few moments later, they were out of the Spirit Herb Garden and reached a large hall that was filled with all kinds of artefacts arranged neatly on shelves and tables all around the room.
"These are all the treasured artefacts we possess, and each of them has various uses that may come in handy in different situations." Feng Haoran explained while taking a few steps towards a writing brush that was neatly placed inside a glass casing.
"For example, this artefact is named Hundred Strokes Brush. It belonged to a famous Talisman Master and, with continuous usage, had absorbed some of his spiritual energy. All the talismans created by this brush have a ten per cent more chance of being successfully formed.
Therefore, if you plan on taking the path of a Talisman Master in the future, then this is a must-have, as it will greatly help you in the initial phase of learning."
"A Talisman Master...I see." Yi Chen nodded in understanding while regenerating the artefact’s other remarks as well.
’...Yea, not interested.’
He thought to himself, seeing that after he had reached a certain level as a Talisman Master, the Hundred Strokes Brush would become useless.
Feng Haoran didn’t stop at that and continued to introduce Yi Chen to various other treasures that were present in the hall one after the other. This was something which Yi Chen greatly appreciated as it helped him save his precious experience points for items that truly caught his attention.
Time kept passing, and before long, more than an hour had passed with Yi Chen still being undecided.
"We’ve only gone through half of them, so don’t lose hope. There’s bound to be something that will catch your attention, and if not, there’s always the sword which I mentioned earlier which you can take back with you." Feng Haoran comforted Yi Chen with a smile.
"Yes, Patriarch." Yi Chen nodded while making his way from the centre of the hall to its other side.
"Hm?" It was at that moment that something caught Yi Chen’s attention, making him stop in his tracks.
Turning towards the small table at the centre of the hall, which they had just passed by, he glanced at a few sheets of paper that were placed under a thick piece of glass.
"Ah, these sheets aren’t an artefact." Feng Haoran stated, seeing where Yi Chen was looking, and continued with an awkward expression, "They could be called a relic of the past at best."
"A relic of the past?" Yi Chen asked with a confused expression.
"Indeed." Feng Haoran nodded and explained, "You know about our clan’s founder, Feng Mong Li, right?"
"Yes, I’ve heard about him a little," Yi Chen nodded at those words.
"During the last stages of his life, Founder Feng Mong Li had started to lose his sanity little by little because of his old age. During those periods, he used to spend most of his time alone while scribbling incomprehensible things in his personal diary."
Feng Haoran paused and, the next second, pointed towards the sheets of paper.
"These sheets, which you see here, are what remains of the diary which he used at that time."
"Oh..." A spark of interest immediately appeared in Yi Chen’s eyes as he opened up its status panel.
