Chapter 128: Chapter 110: It’s Also My Honor to Taste Mrs. Bao’s Cooking from Miss Lin
Lin Zhenxiang pursed her lips, saying nothing.
Her silence was an admission.
Ke Dancheng immediately voiced the dark thought she was hiding. "That’s right, there *is* something wrong with my aunt! If there wasn’t, she wouldn’t be hospitalized!"
"Dancheng, stop," Ling Yunyun sniffled weakly. "Miss Lin was just being kind. It’s my own body that’s letting me down..."
She choked up.
She forced herself to calm down, her gaze hardening with resolve. "Dancheng, don’t let my problems distract you. Listen to your aunt. Focus on studying for your exams. Your uncle and I are waiting to hear your good news!"
Lin Zhenxiang paused, looking at Ke Dancheng in a new light.
Then she remembered.
This relative of Mrs. Luo’s seemed to go to the same school she did.
As if sensing her gaze, Ke Dancheng looked over at her, his tone sharp. "Put your things away, please. My aunt can’t handle that smell right now!"
Lin Zhenxiang packed the fish soup back into the insulated container.
Ke Dancheng softened his tone and said to the preoccupied Ling Yunyun, "Auntie, don’t you worry about me. Just focus on your health and have a healthy baby for Uncle."
"But Dean Wen told Vice District Chief Luo..." Lin Zhenxiang couldn’t help but interject pessimistically.
Ke Dancheng shot her an irritated glare.
’Doesn’t this woman have any filter at all!’
Feeling his intense stare, Lin Zhenxiang finally fell silent.
Ling Yunyun was in a bit of a daze, so she hadn’t been paying attention. But then, out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a tiny figure.
She paused, then looked toward the doorway.
A little guy was hiding there, his small head poking out as he furtively peered inside.
Those fluffy ears just begged to be ruffled!
Ling Yunyun’s eyes lit up with delight. "Whose child is that! What an adorable little Beastman!"
’If only I could have a healthy little Beastman just like him...’
Following his aunt’s gaze, Ke Dancheng looked toward the door, a surprised expression on his face.
"Xiao Juzi, what are you doing here?"
"Ke!"
Xiao Juzi gathered his courage and walked in, his tail swaying gently behind him. When he saw how pale Ling Yunyun looked, worry filled his bright, dark eyes.
Ling Yunyun asked with a smile, "Dancheng, who is this little one?"
Ke Dancheng said, "He’s my classmate’s son. His name is Xiao Juzi."
"Oh my, what an adorable little Beastman!" Ling Yunyun beckoned to Xiao Juzi. "Sweetie, may Auntie touch your ears?"
Xiao Juzi shook his head. "Mommy says I have to know how to protect myself when I’m outside!"
Ling Yunyun laughed in agreement. "Your mom is right! So, what kind of Beastman are you?"
Xiao Juzi: "A kitty~"
A strange expression crossed Ling Yunyun’s face. "Come here, come closer. Let Auntie get a good look at you."
"Auntie!" Ke Dancheng shot a wary glance at Lin Zhenxiang, then quickly turned to Xiao Juzi. "Xiao Juzi, did you need me for something?"
Xiao Juzi nodded. "I wanted to ask you more about kindergarten!"
’It was his first time going to kindergarten. He had to use the time before school started to learn as much as he could. That way, he could act all experienced in front of Little Taotao.’
’He’d heard that little girls liked mature boys~’
"If you want to know about kindergarten, you can ask me," Ling Yunyun interjected, capturing Xiao Juzi’s attention. "Because Auntie used to be a kindergarten teacher~"
Xiao Juzi’s eyes lit up.
Seeing how much his aunt liked Xiao Juzi, Ke Dancheng breathed a sigh of relief. He felt bad about interrupting this rare, happy moment, but he still used his Light Brain to tell Shu Yao that Xiao Juzi had run off to the hospital.
To keep Xiao Juzi from wandering off again, he shut the door to the hospital room securely.
Ling Yunyun shared many amusing anecdotes from her time as a kindergarten teacher. Seeing Xiao Juzi sitting obediently beside her, listening as attentively as a model student, made her grow even fonder of him.
Worried the little one might be hungry, Ling Yunyun said to Ke Dancheng, "Dancheng, I don’t have any snacks here. Order some online and have a delivery bot bring them over."
As Ling Yunyun was about to transfer money to Ke Dancheng, she saw that her nephew had sent her ten thousand Star Coins instead.
Ke Dancheng said, "Auntie, remember how I borrowed ten thousand Star Coins from you last time to tip Mrs. Bao? Well, she ended up refunding all the tips from us students."
Ling Yunyun said admiringly, "From the sound of it, this Mrs. Bao seems like a decent person. I’ve never heard of a streamer like that before."
She seemed to have forgotten there was another food livestreamer in the room.
Ke Dancheng took a small, sealed container out of his bag. He opened the lid and pulled out a sandwich.
He had saved the sandwich from breakfast at the Shu Family’s house that morning. He’d originally intended to bring it to the hospital for his aunt.
’But given his aunt’s condition now... she couldn’t eat a thing.’
"Ah, Mommy’s sandwiches!" Xiao Juzi’s eyes were glued to the object in Ke Dancheng’s hand.
