Chapter 758 - 520: 18 Legends Head for the Demon Domain
Chapter 758: Chapter 520: 18 Legends Head for the Demon Domain
Raylo turned and bowed deeply to the eighteen Legendary Powerhouses behind him.
"This is as far as I go."
"I’ll have a victory feast prepared in Black Stone City... waiting for your triumphant return!"
The Legendary Knight with the Giant Axe on his back grinned, revealing a ferocious smile.
"Kid, make sure you prepare plenty of wine!"
"Hahaha, that’s right! I’ll bring back that Demon Serpent’s heart for us to feast on with our drinks!"
Mage Delin nodded at Raylo.
"Raylo, we appreciate the sentiment."
With that, he turned, his gaze fixed on the center of the swamp.
All eyes followed, converging on the same spot.
In that moment, all traces of joking vanished.
The face of every person was etched with a do-or-die resolve.
"Morpheus."
Mage Delin called out softly.
Mage Morpheus, who had been silent all this time, slowly took a step forward.
His wide, black robes stirred as if moved by an unseen wind.
He raised a hand and gave a light wave.
HUMMM.
The space before him twisted abruptly.
Silvery cracks, like a spider’s web, spread across the air.
Light was devoured, and sound was distorted.
A spatial rift appeared out of thin air.
On the other side of the rift, the terrifying center of a brewing storm was faintly visible!
Mage Morpheus didn’t look back. He simply strode forward, the first to step into the distorted space.
His figure was instantly swallowed by the vortex.
Master Wendel followed, then Mage Nancy...
The Legendary Knight with the Giant Axe, the female Knight with the Long Spear...
One after another.
The eighteen Legendary Powerhouses, without a hint of hesitation, resolutely walked through the spatial gate that led to the final battlefield.
Raylo stood quietly, watching their backs disappear one by one into the spatial rift.
"Raylo."
Mage Delin cast one last look at Raylo.
"The feast... make sure it’s a grand one."
With that, he too stepped into the rift.
After he departed, the spatial rift slowly closed.
The world fell silent in that instant.
The wind stopped.
The clouds froze.
Even the omnipresent stench of decay in the swamp seemed to congeal in the air.
Raylo stood silently on the back of the Ice Wind Demon Serpent, his gaze fixed on the empty space that had returned to normal.
Eighteen Legends.
Just like that, they had gone to war.
A complex mix of emotions welled up inside him: shock, admiration, and a sliver of... an indescribable anticipation.
Just then.
THUMP.
An incredibly deep, muffled boom echoed without warning from the depths of the swamp.
The sound wasn’t transmitted through the air.
Instead, it resounded directly in the depths of his soul.
It was as if an impossibly massive heart had just beat once inside his mind.
Raylo’s face instantly turned pale.
The Ice Wind Demon Serpent beneath his feet let out an uneasy growl. Its colossal body trembled slightly in the air, its scales rubbing together with a soft KRAK-KRAK sound.
THUMP.
The second heartbeat.
Heavier and clearer than the first.
Raylo felt as though an invisible hand had viciously squeezed his own heart, nearly stopping its beat.
He saw the dead-silent swamp below begin to change.
The grayish-green miasma was no longer still.
As if answering some summons, it began to converge slowly but unstoppably toward the center of the swamp.
The scene made the entire vast swamp look like a slowly rotating vortex.
Raylo’s breathing became ragged.
A primal fear, born from the very instinct for survival, crept its way up his spine.
THUMP!
The third heartbeat!
This time, it was no longer a spiritual vibration.
It was a visible shockwave of black sound, erupting from the swamp’s center like a tsunami!
Where the shockwave passed, space groaned under the strain. Fine black cracks flickered in and out of existence in the air.
The instant the shockwave touched the withered trees, they turned into the finest dust, completely vanishing from the world.
Murky river water evaporated in a flash, leaving behind a dry, cracked riverbed.
The aftershock of a single heartbeat had caused such terrifying destruction!
Raylo’s pupils contracted violently.
He stared intently in that direction.
And then, he saw it.
A sight he would never forget for the rest of his life.
At the very center of the swamp, above the vortex of converging miasma, an immeasurably vast phantom slowly rose from below the horizon.
The phantom was too large.
So large it seemed about to tear the very heavens and earth asunder.
A thousand meters...
Two thousand meters...
Three thousand meters...
It continued to rise, its colossal body ripping through the clouds and blotting out the sky.
Its ferocious silhouettes stood out with terrifying clarity against the gray sky.
It was... the Nine-headed Demon Serpent Hydra had appeared.
Within the phantom, nine enormous heads reared high, each representing an ultimate Power of destruction.
One head burned with crimson Flame that could incinerate all creation.
One head condensed with deep blue ice that could freeze the very soul.
One head was wreathed in violet Thunderbolt that judged all living things.
One head spewed a ghastly green poison that corroded heaven and earth.
One head was shrouded in a deathly black mist that reaped life.
One head commanded immense Gravity that tore the land apart.
One head stirred an Invisible Hurricane that annihilated everything in its path.
As for the last two heads, one radiated a maddening Chaotic Radiance, while the other was cloaked in an all-devouring darkness and void.
All nine heads revealed!
Nine pairs of enormous, Abyssal eyes opened at once.
There was no emotion in their gaze.
Only a cold, indifferent... will to destroy.
They simultaneously locked onto the location where the spatial fluctuations had occurred.
There, the eighteen Legendary Powerhouses had arrived.
The next second.
ROAR!
The nine heads roared in unison.
Raylo heard nothing.
But in that instant, the world itself detonated!
With the center of the swamp as its epicenter, an apocalyptic storm that swept across the land and sky erupted!
BOOM!
A pillar of fire over a thousand meters in diameter shot into the sky, burning a gigantic hole through the cloud layer and revealing the dim firmament beyond.
CRACK!
Endless frost spread outward at a visible speed. The ground was frozen solid, and countless blue ice crystals condensed in the air, as if the entire world was being dragged into an eternal ice age.
RUMBLE!
Tens of thousands of Thunderbolts, like frenzied dragons and serpents, ravaged the space between heaven and earth. Every single Lightning bolt contained enough terrifying Power to level a mountain.
Flame, ice, Thunderbolt, poison, death, Gravity, hurricane, chaos, darkness...
Nine completely different types of Magic Power were unleashed without reservation by the phantom of the Nine-headed Demon Serpent!
They were no longer mere Magic Elements.
They were a true, world-ending cataclysm!
The nine Powers clashed, intertwined, and merged wildly at the swamp’s center, forming an immense, multicolored, yet death-filled Energy Vortex.
The entire world trembled before this Power.
"..."
Raylo was utterly speechless.
He froze in place, his mind a complete blank.
Despite being hundreds of kilometers away, the terrifying aftershocks of the storm still swept toward him with overwhelming force.
The Magic Elements around him descended into utter chaos!
Uncontrolled tufts of flame spontaneously ignited in the air.
Then, they were instantly frozen into ice crystals by a sudden blast of cold.
Tiny arcs of electricity, like silver snakes, CRACKLED around him.
"Go!"
"Go now!"
Snapping out of his shock, Raylo commanded the Ice Wind Demon Serpent beneath his feet.
The Ice Wind Demon Serpent’s massive body twisted sharply, turning into a streak of icy-blue light as it frantically fled away from the swamp with all its might.
The wind howled in his ears.
But Raylo’s heart was beating even faster than the wind.
The image of Mage Delin, Master Wendel, and the other eighteen Legendary Powerhouses resolutely stepping into the spatial rift surfaced uncontrollably in his mind.
’They... is this the kind of monster they’re facing?’
’Half-Step World Destruction Level? Is this the mighty Power of a Half-Step World Destruction Level entity?’
As Raylo desperately fled this land of death, he couldn’t resist looking back one last time.
Just one glance.
And he saw it.
In the center of the terrifying storm formed by nine world-ending cataclysms, beneath the colossal phantom of the Nine-headed Demon Serpent that touched the sky...
Eighteen faint points of light suddenly flared to life!
They were like eighteen candle flames in a hurricane—tiny, fragile, as if they could be extinguished at any moment.
And yet, they were so resolute, so brilliant!
