Chapter 757 - 520: 18 Legends Journey to the Demon Domain
Chapter 757: Chapter 520: 18 Legends Journey to the Demon Domain
The next day.
The sky was just beginning to break at dawn.
In the study, Raylo had not slept all night.
He stood silently, his gaze fixed on the distant sky as it slowly brightened.
He walked out of the Lord’s Mansion and into the square.
Soon, the sound of footsteps came from behind him.
The twelve Legendary Mages appeared behind him.
A night of rest had done nothing to lessen the solemn expressions on their faces. If anything, they looked heavier, weighed down by the feeling of an impending storm.
In addition to these twelve familiar faces, there were six new figures in their ranks.
Four men and two women.
At their head was a burly, towering man clad in crimson Heavy Armor, a massive War Axe slung across his back. His exposed skin was a tapestry of vicious scars, and he gave off the impression of a prehistoric Giant Beast, coiled and ready to strike.
Beside him stood a woman with a face as cold as ice, holding a Silver Long Spear. Her eyebrows were like sword blades, her eyes like a hawk’s.
Of the other two Knights, one silently polished his Broadsword, while the other meticulously inspected the details of his Armor.
The four of them were Legendary Knights.
Each was a true war machine, forged in mountains of corpses and seas of blood.
As for the other two newcomers, both Mages, one was an elderly woman with a gentle disposition, dressed in a moon-white robe and holding a World Tree Staff.
The other was a somewhat sloppy-looking middle-aged man with a Magic Wand tucked into his belt, looking as if he hadn’t quite woken up yet.
These six were old friends of the twelve Legendary Mages. They too were Legendary Level beings, the most powerful of the Catastrophe Level.
A total of eighteen Legendary Level beings.
And now, they had all gathered here for a single, common goal.
"Raylo."
Mage Delin stepped forward, his voice as gentle as ever.
"These are old friends we called upon overnight."
He gave a brief introduction.
"We... should get going!"
Raylo turned and gave a deep bow to the eighteen Legendary Powerhouses before him.
There were no unnecessary words.
In a solemn moment like this, any flowery language would seem pale and powerless.
All he could do was offer his utmost respect.
...
On the vast, open ground outside the castle.
The cold wind howled.
Raylo threw out the Ice Wind Demon Head.
The Demon Head rapidly expanded in mid-air. Then, countless shards of ice gathered around it, forming a thousand-meter-long giant serpent. Its body was crystalline and translucent, as if carved from ten-thousand-year-old Profound Ice.
"Masters, if you please."
Raylo was the first to leap onto the Ice Wind Demon Serpent’s broad back.
The eighteen Legendary Powerhouses didn’t hesitate. With flashes of movement, they landed steadily on the serpent’s back one by one.
"Let’s go!"
Raylo gave the order.
The Ice Wind Demon Serpent let out a high-pitched hiss. Its enormous body soared into the air, transforming into a streak of icy-blue light as it sped toward the Jade Swamp.
The wind roared in their ears.
The ground flew by beneath them.
No one spoke.
The atmosphere was suffocatingly tense.
As they drew closer to the Jade Swamp, the change in the air became more and more obvious.
The once fresh, natural wind had become turbid, carrying a nauseating, putrid stench.
In the sky, the once-bright sunlight was now obscured by a layer of gray mist, making it dim and lusterless.
"Look down below,"
Mage Nancy’s cool voice rang out.
Everyone looked down.
The outskirts of the swamp, which should have been vibrant and lush with greenery, now presented a shocking scene of withered yellow.
Vast swathes of trees looked as if they had been drained of all their Life Force, leaving only dry branches to sway feebly in the dead wind.
The clear river water had turned murky, and a layer of dead, white-bellied fish floated on the surface, emitting waves of foul odor.
The entire swamp was like an old man tormented by illness, rapidly approaching death.
"It’s devouring... It’s devouring the Life Force of the entire swamp!"
the Legendary Mage who was dressed like a Pharmacist said, their voice raspy.
"So fast..."
Mage Delin’s brows furrowed tightly.
"In just one night, the signs of decay have already spread to the outskirts."
"It seems more desperate than we imagined."
Master Wendel clenched his fists tightly.
"That beast!"
Everyone’s hearts sank.
The scene before them was more telling of the Nine-headed Demon Serpent’s terror than any words could be.
It was like a massive, greedy black hole, frantically devouring the Life Essence this ancient swamp had accumulated over millions of years.
With every bit it devoured, its Power grew stronger.
And it drew one step closer to that final threshold.
They were out of time.
The Ice Wind Demon Serpent continued to fly forward.
The deeper they went, the thicker the aura of death became.
A strange, pale green energy mist even began to permeate the air.
"It’s a potent poison!"
one of the Legendary Masters immediately warned.
Upon hearing this, the old woman Mage in the moon-white robe gently tapped her World Tree Staff.
A soft, green Light Shield filled with the breath of life instantly enveloped everyone, isolating them from the poisonous mist outside.
The Ice Wind Demon Serpent continued to fly forward.
The closer they got to the center of the swamp, the denser the aura of death became.
After flying for another half an hour.
"Stop here."
Mage Delin suddenly spoke when they were about a hundred kilometers from the swamp’s center.
"Any further and we’ll enter the range of its will."
Raylo nodded and signaled for the Ice Wind Demon Serpent to stop.
The massive serpent’s body hovered in mid-air.
"Masters, Seniors."
