Chapter 650 - 467: The World-Ending Calamity of the Giant Dragon Realm
Chapter 650: Chapter 467: The World-Ending Calamity of the Giant Dragon Realm
"Elder."
Raylo walked over and bowed slightly.
"That Potion..."
Gu began slowly.
"Does it ’steal’—or perhaps, ’extract’—the bloodline Power of a Giant Dragon?"
"Elder, this Potion is from an inheritance I happened to obtain from an ancient ruin."
Raylo answered calmly.
"Oh?"
Gu raised an eyebrow but didn’t press the matter.
His gaze shifted from Raylo toward the Lord’s Mansion.
"Those two little newcomers have taken the bait."
He said.
Raylo’s heart leaped into his throat again.
He knew the "little newcomers" Gu mentioned were the two Legendary Mages, Delin and Wendel, who were staying in the guest rooms of the Lord’s Mansion.
"They’re very interested in your Potion."
Gu turned his head back to look at Raylo again.
"That is precisely what I was hoping for."
Raylo replied.
Gu looked at him, an enigmatic glint flashing through his murky eyes.
"Interesting."
He nodded.
"Using something that interests them to tie them to your ship. Kid, you’re a little smarter than I thought."
"I wouldn’t dare show off my meager skills before you, Elder."
"It was just a petty trick."
Gu was noncommittal. He said,
"Kid, you must remember that true strength always comes from within."
He slowly circled Raylo, those eyes that seemed to see through everything sizing him up and down.
"You carry many secrets."
Gu said suddenly.
Raylo’s heart skipped a beat.
"Elder..."
"Don’t be nervous."
Gu waved his hand, his expression returning to its usual placid calm, like the surface of an old well.
"Everyone has their secrets. I’ve lived so long, I’ve seen more secrets than you’ve eaten grains of salt."
"I’m not interested in your secrets."
As he spoke, his tone shifted. Then, he pointed a finger at the sky.
"I can feel it. Since the day the two suns hung in the sky, our Giant Dragon Realm has been facing a calamity great enough to destroy this world."
"A great storm has been brewing in the Giant Dragon Realm for a thousand years."
Grand Elder Gu said slowly.
"The two suns in the sky?"
Raylo asked curiously.
"From the ’Collapse of the White Moon’ a thousand years ago to the ’Two Suns’ appearing together in the sky three hundred years ago. This war of invasion against the Giant Dragon Realm has already lasted a millennium."
"The ’Two Suns in the Sky’ represents the clash of two world wills. Only when one completely devours the other will this thousand-year war reach its conclusion."
"If the ’White Sun’ representing the Giant Dragon Realm is devoured, that will be the moment our world meets its end."
After he finished speaking, he looked away from Raylo, turned, and with faltering steps, slowly walked into the darkness.
"But is your world any different?"
After Grand Elder Gu had walked some distance away, a sigh drifted back, and then his figure quickly melted into the night and vanished.
It was as if he had never been there at all.
In the square, only Raylo remained, standing stunned in place, his back already soaked with cold sweat.
A fierce wind swept by, and the bonfire crackled loudly, stretching his shadow on the ground, making it flicker between long and short.
...
The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight pierced the thin early winter mist and shone into the Lord’s Mansion, there was a knock on the door to Raylo’s study.
"Come in."
The door opened to reveal Mage Delin and Master Wendel.
A smile appeared on Raylo’s face as he stood up to greet them.
"Good morning, Masters."
"Morning."
Mage Delin replied with a smile, but his eyes discreetly sized up Raylo, as if trying to discern something from him.
Master Wendel, however, was not so patient. He got straight to the point the moment he entered.
"Kid Raylo, cut the crap. We didn’t see any whales. We’re here today about those two Potions from yesterday."
His eyes gleamed with a Mage’s fanaticism.
"I’ll ask you directly: that Potion, do you have any more?"
Raylo stepped aside, made a "please" gesture, and led the two Legendary Mages to the sofas in the reception area.
He personally poured them hot tea before speaking unhurriedly.
"To be honest with you, Masters, I’ve named that Potion the Flying Dragon Bloodline Potion. It was refined by Master Barnaby of Black Stone Territory."
"Barnaby?"
"That ’Alchemy Genius’!"
A light flashed in Master Wendel’s eyes.
"The formula for that Potion, could you let us take a look..."
Master Wendel stopped mid-sentence, realizing his request was a bit excessive, and quickly added,
"We can guarantee we won’t leak it, and we are willing to offer sufficient compensation in exchange."
To an Alchemist, the allure of an unprecedented Potion formula, one capable of creating an entirely new school of thought, was no less than the temptation of a Divine Weapon to a Knight.
Raylo looked at his impatient expression, smiled, and shook his head.
"The formula, I’m afraid, is not possible."
"My Knights and I went through hell and back to obtain it from the ruins. It is the very foundation of Black Stone Territory’s survival. Forgive me, but I cannot show it to outsiders."
Raylo’s tone was sincere yet firm.
He knew that a timely refusal was the best way to maintain control of the situation.
If he had handed over the formula without hesitation, they would have looked down on him for it.
"You!"
Master Wendel shot to his feet, a scorching aura emanating from him that caused the temperature in the entire room to rise by several degrees.
"Wendel."
Mage Delin spoke up, reaching out a hand to press down on his old friend’s shoulder.
