Chapter 2366: From Righteous Dao Village
Chapter 2366: Chapter 2366: From Righteous Dao Village
Meng Yunzheng lowered his gaze; he hadn’t expected to see Shu Feng here.
Shu Feng’s presence here meant that the others who came with him were all from Righteous Dao Village. The injured boy being carried in, for whom Liu Jie was extremely anxious, should be the one he had seen before.
Judging by their disheveled appearance, it’s clear that Righteous Dao Village has already started taking action, yet unfortunately, they have still managed to escape.
While pondering this in his mind, he saw Rong Hou walk out from the house, saying as he moved, “Lord, the journey must have been tiring. I’ll have someone prepare hot water and food immediately and send it over.”
Upon reaching the doorway, he led Meng Yunzheng away.
Once out of that group’s sight range, he immediately whispered, “The boy was stabbed in the chest, heavily injured, and is now in a coma. Liu Jie, Lord, was originally in Righteous Dao Village. Somehow, he fled to here. It seems they’ve encountered trouble.”
Meng Yunzheng nodded thoughtfully, “Do you recognize that boy?”
“No, I don’t.” Rong Hou shook his head, “But Liu Jie is extremely anxious about him. I glanced at him earlier, and Liu Jie blocked my view immediately.”
Meng Yunzheng said nothing, and Rong Hou asked quietly, “What do we do next?”
Meng Yunzheng gave him a meaningful look, at which Rong Hou was momentarily speechless, “Understood.”
He went to prepare tea and food, soon entering the courtyard himself with tea, pouring a cup for Liu Jie before delivering two more cups to the guards at the door.
Liu Jie held the cup, frowning at Rong Hou, “The doctor hasn’t arrived yet?”
“I’ll go and check.” Rong Hou went out, brushing past one of Liu Jie’s men at the courtyard entrance.
The subordinate glanced at Rong Hou, then quickly entered the house, his expression somewhat grave as he whispered to Liu Jie, “Something seems off in the mansion.”
Liu Jie had just sipped his tea, raised his head upon hearing this, “What’s wrong?”
“When I went to the toilet just now, someone in the courtyard followed me. They seemed to be guiding me, but my intuition told me they were surveilling me.”
Liu Jie suddenly stood up, “Are you sure?”
“Not sure, but to be safe, we should be cautious.” As he spoke, the subordinate glanced at the teacup in Liu Jie’s hand.
Liu Jie instantly put the teacup down and told the others in the room, “Don’t drink it yet.”
But he was already too late; these days, everyone had been fleeing and rushing, mentally stretched to the limit. The chance to rest with hot tea and food was rare. Though they hadn’t started eating yet, half the tea had already been consumed.
Liu Jie looked around, his expression somewhat grim, and told the subordinate, “We can’t take any risks now. Go tell the people waiting outside the mansion to take action.”
Although they had come in with more than ten people, they had left a contingency, with half the group outside ready to respond to any incidents.
The subordinate immediately complied, “I’ll go at once.”
He opened the door and stepped out, but as soon as he took a step, a crossbow arrow whistled straight toward him, piercing his throat squarely.
He maintained the action of opening the door, eyes wide, unable to utter a single word, breathless.
Liu Jie was astonished and instinctively shouted, “Quick, close the door.”
Shu Feng reacted swiftly, being the first to charge into the house; he swiftly shut the door, leaving a slower guard outside who could only surrender.
