Chapter 2365: An Unexpected Guest
Chapter 2365: Chapter 2365: An Unexpected Guest
The young master of the Cheng Family standing at the courtyard gate felt his heart skip a beat and suppressed his voice slightly, asking softly, “Who is it?”
People outside also lowered their voice, “I’m looking for Rong Hou.”
The young master of the Cheng Family’s expression changed slightly; those looking for Rong Hou must be from the black market.
“Wait a moment.”
He slowly retreated two steps, then silently ran to the front hall to find Meng Yunzheng, who was talking with Rong Hou.
“Young Master Meng, someone’s at the door, knocking urgently, saying they’re looking for Rong Hou.”
Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance with Rong Hou, his heart sinking, “Did you have an appointment to meet someone at this time?”
“No.”
So the visitor came suddenly, either due to an emergency or…
Meng Yunzheng immediately called over four or five people, then told the young master of the Cheng Family to inform Shu Yu, Lord Cheng, and the others, and said to Rong Hou, “Let’s go and see.”
Several people quickly arrived at the courtyard gate, and Rong Hou hurriedly asked in a low voice, “Who is outside?”
“It’s me.”
Rong Hou’s eyes widened, and he quickly looked at Meng Yunzheng, whispering, “It’s Lord Liu, Liu Jie.”
Meng Yunzheng squinted slightly; he knew Liu Jie. Over the past few days, Rong Hou had explained everything about the black market, including his familiar relationships. Liu Jie was his superior’s superior, the second-in-command in the black market in the southwest. This person was very mysterious, rarely showing up, and few in the black market had seen him.
If Rong Hou hadn’t worked under him, he probably wouldn’t have recognized him either.
Unexpectedly, he came.
Meng Yunzheng waved his hand, and Rong Hou took a deep breath, hurriedly opened the door, revealing Liu Jie’s somewhat haggard face.
Rong Hou was somewhat surprised, “What happened to you, Milord?”
Once Liu Jie confirmed the person in front of him was Rong Hou, he didn’t say much more, instead gesturing towards a corner, from where more than ten people gradually emerged.
Rong Hou’s heart skipped a beat, thinking Liu Jie might have discovered something wrong with the Cheng Mansion and brought people to clean up.
However, before he could act, he heard Liu Jie instruct in a low voice, “Quickly prepare a room and find a reliable doctor, hurry.”
Rong Hou paused in his actions, only then noticing that among the ten or so who came over, one seemed to be injured, being carried on the back of a strong man.
Even Liu Jie was so tense, indicating this person’s identity was definitely extraordinary.
At Meng Yunzheng’s signal, Rong Hou hurriedly agreed and quickly instructed two people beside him, one to go outside, the other to ‘tidy up a room’ inside the courtyard.
Rong Hou then opened the door wider to let Liu Jie and the others in quickly.
All of Liu Jie’s people were fully armored, holding weapons, cloaked from head to toe, slightly bowing their heads to conceal their faces thoroughly.
Rong Hou closed the door and led them inside. Meng Yunzheng, concealed in the shadows, slowly barred the door.
Liu Jie didn’t notice; he stayed close to the injured person, his brow knit tightly.
They quickly reached the backyard, entered one of the courtyards, and laid the injured person on a bed.
Meng Yunzheng and a few of his men trailed behind; originally intending to enter the courtyard, they found two cautious guards outside preventing anyone but Rong Hou from entering.
Meng Yunzheng had no choice but to stop, and when the lights inside the room brightened, he stealthily lifted his gaze, and in the next moment, his expression subtly changed.
One of the guards at the courtyard gate turned out to be a familiar face.
