Chapter 661 - 320: Late at Night, a Man and a Woman Alone in a Room
Chapter 661: Chapter 320: Late at Night, a Man and a Woman Alone in a Room
"It’s fine. You don’t need to do anything," Lin Shen chuckled softly. "I’m just borrowing your name. You don’t have to worry about the rest—leave everything to me."
"Then there’s no need to use my name at all." Gu Wanqing was a little confused. "Lin Shen, you could just pick a random one."
"But then it would be meaningless," Lin Shen said softly, gazing deeply into her eyes. "I want to name a company after us, that’s all."
"..."
Lin Shen’s eyes were incredibly sincere as he said this.
He felt he owed Gu Wanqing a great deal. Qin Yuenan and Jiang Wan both had companies named after them, but she didn’t. Even though she was only eighteen and hadn’t reached working age, Lin Shen still wanted to establish a company in her name.
This was also a little trick to juggling multiple girls. When handling relationship issues, a guy who couldn’t treat everyone equally was just a scumbag. But one who could perfectly balance the scales—that was a true Casanova.
Lin Shen naturally had his own code of conduct. Since Qin Yuenan and Jiang Wan had one, Gu Wanqing definitely had to have one too. Although she had never thought about these things, Lin Shen couldn’t pretend to be ignorant.
Gu Wanqing’s thoughts, however, were much simpler. She was just filled with affection and excitement!
Deep down, she had always felt like she was merely a replacement for her older sister. After all, Lin Shen had broken up with her sister before she pursued him and they got together. She even felt that her place in his heart couldn’t compare to Jiang Wan’s.
Yet she didn’t feel discouraged or sad about it; instead, she thought it was only right. Because her relationship with Lin Shen had started out strictly as that of an older brother and younger sister. They were never supposed to become a couple.
The kind of girl suited for Lin Shen should be like Jiang Wan—gentle, elegant, mature, and steady. Not a clueless little girl like herself.
After all, Gu Wanqing knew very well that there was a full seven-year age gap between them. Maybe the difference between twenty-five and eighteen didn’t seem that huge now. But what about seven years ago? When she was still in the fifth grade, Lin Shen was already in college. An age gap like that could only be downplayed once they were older.
But in her heart, Gu Wanqing knew exactly how deep the generation gap between them was. When he was with Jiang Wan, they would discuss work-related topics, like recruitment for Shenwan Media or troubles they encountered in their daily lives. But when he was with her, their conversations were always about trivial things, like plots from TV dramas or funny videos they scrolled past online.
In truth, Gu Wanqing really wanted to have deep conversations with Lin Shen and help share his work pressure. But she really didn’t know anything. If she kept asking questions, she was afraid Lin Shen would eventually get annoyed by her ignorance.
Therefore, in the beginning, Gu Wanqing felt that her status was lower than Jiang Wan’s, but she could accept it.
But now, Lin Shen’s words completely dispelled her worries. From what he said, she could deeply feel that his affection for her was no less than what he felt for Jiang Wan.
She thought, "He loves me just as much as he loves Jiang Wan."
Having reached this conclusion, Gu Wanqing’s beautiful eyes instantly lit up as if stars were twinkling within them. She suddenly looked radiant, a healthy blush spreading across her pretty face. Cupping her cheeks, she giggled uncontrollably. When she finally snapped back to reality and realized she had lost her composure, she tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and smiled shyly.
"Hehe, so that’s what you were thinking, Lin Shen. I’m so happy."
"Then it’s settled," Lin Shen smiled faintly.
After that, the atmosphere at the dining table gradually grew more lively. Having resolved the burden on her mind, Gu Wanqing no longer felt any apprehension when chatting with Lin Shen about the things she saw and heard at school. She used to worry that he would find her childish, but now it seemed she had been overthinking it.
At 7:00 PM, dinner was coming to an end.
Gu Wanqing took the initiative to gather the dishes, planning to wash them in the kitchen. Lin Shen helped wipe down the table and originally intended to help her wash up, but she shooed him out.
"No need, I can wash them. You go sit in the living room, Lin Shen. Or better yet, go pick a movie for us to watch later."
"Alright."
Lin Shen didn’t refuse Gu Wanqing’s kind intentions. Instead, he went to prepare the things they would need for the movie.
First was ice-cold cola. They already had some at home, so he just grabbed it from the fridge. As for popcorn, Lin Shen substituted it with snacks. He had installed another refrigerator in the study, though this one was much cheaper than the one next to the kitchen, costing only a little over ten thousand yuan. It was mainly used to store snacks. Previously, when Lin Shen worked in his study, he had to go all the way to the living room if he wanted a bite to eat. Finding it too much of a hassle, he placed a fridge in the study to store ready-to-eat snacks.
After getting everything ready, Lin Shen activated the living room’s home theater mode.
He pressed a button on the wall, and a custom-made projector screen slowly descended to cover the entire wall. Then, a concealed projector overhead whirred to life. The speakers on both sides of the room and the ambient lighting on the ceiling automatically adjusted to their optimal settings. The curtains on the balcony drew shut, the air conditioning raised its temperature, and the fresh air system dialed down to its lowest setting. Even the sofa automatically deployed a footrest, transforming the entire piece of furniture into a soft, comfortable lounger.
It was Lin Shen’s first time using the living room’s theater mode, and the experience felt quite magical. It instantly turned the living room into a highly private home cinema.
When Gu Wanqing came out after washing the dishes, she was greeted by this dreamy, picturesque scene. A massive, plush sofa. A small coffee table in the center laden with snacks and drinks. A white screen hanging on the opposite wall, projecting the computer’s display.
"Wow!"
Unable to contain her joy, Gu Wanqing let out a cheer, kicked off her slippers, and bounced onto the sofa bed, rolling around and giggling wildly.
"It’s so huge! So soft! I feel like I could roll around all day and never fall off! Having a big living room is so nice! Yay!"
"What movie do you want to watch?"
"Hmm..."
Asked so suddenly, Gu Wanqing drew a blank.
After all, watching a movie was secondary; her main goal was simply to cuddle with Lin Shen. Therefore, the actual movie didn’t really matter. But picking something like *Transformers* felt like it would ruin the mood. Suddenly, Gu Wanqing came up with a brilliant idea.
"A horror movie!"
Hearing her proposal, Lin Shen was momentarily dazed, as if he had been transported back to the first time he went to a private cinema with Qin Yuenan. Her first choice back then had also been a horror movie. For a cold and aloof mature woman, that choice was understandable—she was emotionally composed and didn’t seem like the type to get scared easily.
But for Gu Wanqing to pick a horror movie? Lin Shen really hadn’t seen that coming.
He wondered, "This girl actually watches horror movies?"
"Are you sure?"
"Mhm."
After repeatedly confirming that she wanted to watch a horror movie, Lin Shen carefully browsed through his curated selection. Ultimately, Gu Wanqing chose *The Conjuring*, a highly rated classic in the genre.
Although it was a classic, from Lin Shen’s perspective, it wasn’t even as scary as *Incantation*. This probably had to do with the differences in customs and lifestyles between East and West. Lin Shen wasn’t afraid of monsters or demons, and things like demonic possession didn’t faze him much either. He was much more unnerved by things like a pair of red embroidered shoes suddenly appearing at a doorway. *Incantation*, on the other hand, wove local folk customs into its horror narrative, creating a film perfectly tailored to terrify a domestic audience.
But since Gu Wanqing wanted to watch *The Conjuring*, Lin Shen naturally went along with her wishes.
He clicked play and leaned back against the sofa. Seeing this, Gu Wanqing thought for a moment before quietly scooting over to his side. She leaned against the backrest just like him and naturally rested her head on his shoulder.
Under the dim lighting, a man and a woman were alone in the room. This made Gu Wanqing’s heart race far more intensely than usual.
She wondered if something would happen, just like the night they first met.
