Chapter 304: Chapter 304: Xing Che? He Had Contact With People From the Dark Nest?
"Miss Yun, we’re here. Dean Zhang and the other department doctors are waiting inside. Let’s go in."
The two fake doctors leading the way stopped at the door of a room at the end of the corridor, respectfully gesturing for Yun Sheng to enter.
Yun Sheng paused slightly, feigning confusion. "Here? If Dean Zhang wants to discuss the guiding session I just gave Lin Hao, why aren’t we going to his office? Why come to such a remote room?"
"Dean Zhang is doing a temporary ward inspection," one of the doctors hurriedly explained. "This room is quiet and free of interruptions, making it much more convenient for a discussion. Let’s just go inside first, Miss Yun."
It was a flimsy excuse that fell apart with even a moment’s thought. However, Yun Sheng maintained her composure. Instead of pressing the issue, she stepped inside with exceptional cooperation.
Upon entering, she glanced around the empty room. It contained only a few scattered chairs and a simple desk. There was no sign of the supposed Dean Zhang.
Wearing an expression of surprise, she turned to the two doctors beside her, opening her mouth as if to ask about the dean’s whereabouts.
At that exact moment, the two men exchanged a rapid glance. The respect in their eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a ruthless glare.
Without any warning, they struck simultaneously. Two streams of piercing, bone-chilling spiritual power surged forward like icy blades, bearing down on Yun Sheng with immense, oppressive force!
Yun Sheng had been on high alert from the very beginning. The instant they moved, the spiritual power within her rapidly circulated, immediately erecting a dense and sturdy Spirit Barrier in front of her. However, she didn’t block it with her full strength. Instead, she deliberately withdrew some of her defenses, allowing their force to crash into her.
"Ugh..." A muffled cry of pain slipped past her lips. Playing along, Yun Sheng clutched her forehead and stumbled back two steps before her legs gave out, letting her body collapse limply to the floor.
"It’s done." One of the fake doctors let out a heavy sigh of relief. He quickly stepped forward and crouched down, checking her breathing before peeling back her eyelids to examine her pupillary response. Only after confirming that she had completely lost consciousness did he stand up and give his companion a firm nod. "Contact the higher-ups quickly. Tell them the target is secured and to send the extraction team as soon as possible."
The other doctor immediately opened his terminal, his fingers flying across the screen to send the message. A few seconds later, the device buzzed softly. He glanced down and lowered his voice. "The extraction team will be here shortly. The higher-ups said to keep a close eye on her and guard the scene. We absolutely cannot afford any mistakes."
"Relax. She’s just a mere B-level Guide. After taking a joint Spirit Shock from both of us, she definitely won’t wake up for a few hours."
"Didn’t they say her spiritual power is special? Just to be safe, let’s add a shot of a heavy sedative to completely eliminate any chance of an accident. We need to be absolutely foolproof." As he spoke, one of the doctors pulled a sealed, transparent syringe from his pocket.
Although Yun Sheng’s eyes were closed and she appeared completely insensible, her senses remained incredibly sharp. The moment she heard the word "sedative," her nerves tensed, and she immediately prepared to counteract it. If she actually took the heavy sedative and fell into a deep coma, she would be completely at their mercy. The risk was too great; it was a gamble she absolutely could not take!
The cold needle pierced her skin, and the clear liquid was slowly pushed into her vein.
The instant the drug entered her body, Yun Sheng mobilized the formidable spiritual power belonging to Si Jin and Bai Ye from within her spiritual landscape. She transformed it into a dense, invisible protective layer, enveloping every single drop of the invading chemical. By completely isolating the drug, she was able to slowly force it back out of her body.
Yun Sheng had only heard Guo Kai mention this method of expelling drugs once back in Zone 10. She had never actually tried it before. With zero experience and no guarantee of success, she could only bite the bullet and give it her all. To her surprise, the sheer strength of the two top-tier spiritual powers was remarkably potent, securely locking down the sedative.
Holding her breath and concentrating her mind, Yun Sheng used her spiritual power to gently push the encapsulated sedative out through the microscopic pores of her fingertips, drop by drop. The entire process was incredibly subtle, completely silent, and utterly imperceptible to onlookers.
Having successfully neutralized the sedative threat, she let out a quiet sigh of relief in her heart. Just then, the terminal on her wrist vibrated faintly.
Yun Sheng cracked her eyelids open just a sliver, her peripheral vision swiftly sweeping the room.
Having administered the sedative, the two fake doctors had completely lowered their guard. One had stepped outside to keep watch by the door, while the other leaned against the wall, zoning out. Neither was paying attention to her. Using her body to block their view, she tapped her terminal with the lightest touch of her fingertip. A message from Si Jin appeared on the screen.
[The suspected Dark Nest operatives Bai Ye locked onto are almost at the hospital. Lin Yueyao called them in secretly. Their goal is most likely to seize this opportunity to smuggle you out. Yun Sheng, what is your situation?]
Out in the dark corridor, Si Jin stood quietly in the shadows. He could clearly see one of the fake doctors guarding the door, while the room itself was dead silent, devoid of any strange noises. Unsure of what was happening inside and worried for Yun Sheng’s safety, he had sent the message to confirm her status.
Yun Sheng’s fingers tapped against the screen with swift, covert movements, typing out a quick reply.
[I’m fine. I faked passing out to trick them. Right now, they’re guarding me, waiting for their accomplices to arrive for the extraction.]
Si Jin’s response came quickly.
[Good to hear.]
[Bai Ye is preparing to intercept them and test Lin Yueyao’s reaction. She has ties to the Dark Nest. If we follow her lead, we might get an unexpected harvest.]
Reading this, Yun Sheng curled her fingertips slightly. She thought of Lin Yueyao, wondering if her awakening as an S-Class had something to do with the Dark Nest. Could she have used an induction agent too?!
Meanwhile, downstairs, the situation on Bai Ye’s end had also evolved.
To stall the Dark Nest’s extraction team, Luo Cheng had preemptively arranged a minor fender bender on the roads surrounding the hospital. It wasn’t a major accident, but it perfectly blocked the main road leading to the hospital’s front entrance. Traffic came to a complete standstill, successfully halting the approaching operatives.
Once the deed was done, Luo Cheng immediately called Bai Ye.
"General, the Dark Nest operatives have been blocked. This will delay them for at least ten minutes or so." After two seconds of silence, Luo Cheng’s voice came through again, carrying a subtle edge. "Also... I saw Xing Che."
"Xing Che? He’s here too?" Catching the odd tone in Luo Cheng’s voice, Bai Ye arched an eyebrow. "Is he in contact with the Dark Nest people?"
For the past few days, Xing Che had mysteriously dropped off the radar—no appearances, no messages, and, unprecedentedly, he hadn’t been hovering around Yun Sheng. Bai Ye had already found it strange, but he never expected the man to show up on the hospital’s perimeter at a time like this.
"His objective is unclear," Luo Cheng reported truthfully. "But he’s been trailing the Dark Nest members from a distance. It looks like he’s targeting this group as well. General, should I go over and give him a heads-up?"
Bai Ye was silent for a moment before pressing, "Has he interfered with your operation?"
"No. He’s been observing from the sidelines without stepping in or causing trouble."
"Then ignore him," Bai Ye ordered crisply. Xing Che’s origins were unknown and his stance ambiguous. As long as he wasn’t getting in the way, there was no need to explain their operation to him for now, lest it cause unnecessary complications.
"Yes, General."
Hanging up the phone, Bai Ye raised a hand to adjust his casual clothes, reining in his imposing aura before pushing the door open and stepping out of the car. The moment the car door closed, his features shifted into an utterly unremarkable face as he headed straight for the elevators.
