Chapter 303: With Si Jin Always There, She Fears Nothing
Chapter 303: Chapter 303: With Si Jin Always There, She Fears Nothing
"As long as you’re alright. Xiao Hao’s condition has only just stabilized. If anything else happened to you, Yue Yao, I really wouldn’t know what to do."
Standing to the side, Su Wan looked at Lin Yueyao’s pale, bloodless face, her eyes full of heartache.
Lin Yueyao lowered her eyes, feigning docility. She gave a gentle nod. "Mom, it’s my fault. I pushed myself too hard this time."
Though her words were meek and apologetic, a flash of cold, ruthless malice darted through her eyes. She discreetly swept her gaze toward the ward door, calculating inwardly. She figured they should be arriving soon.
Yun Sheng had just severely damaged her spiritual power and plunged her spiritual landscape into chaos. She had etched this grudge deep into her heart and would absolutely make Yun Sheng pay it back a hundredfold!
Hearing her words, Su Wan remained worried about her health. She softly instructed her to get plenty of rest, completely oblivious to the turbulent undercurrents clashing between Lin Yueyao and Yun Sheng.
Yun Sheng stood quietly to the side, her expression calm and composed as she secretly monitored the sounds outside the door.
A few minutes later, the clear sound of approaching footsteps echoed from the corridor outside. The rhythm was rushed, making a beeline straight for this exclusive ward.
Almost simultaneously, Yun Sheng’s terminal vibrated slightly. She looked down and opened the message. It was from Si Jin.
[A few doctors in white coats just showed up. They look like imposters.]
A trace of understanding flashed in Yun Sheng’s eyes. She lightly rubbed the edge of her terminal. Her expression remained unchanged as her fingertips rapidly tapped the screen to reply.
[I know. Let’s wait and see, and lure them into our trap.]
Just as the message was successfully sent, two measured knocks sounded at the ward door.
"Excuse me, is Miss Yun Sheng inside?" a polite male voice asked from outside.
Hearing the voice, Yun Sheng looked up and answered, "Yes, please come in."
The door was pushed open, and two doctors wearing white coats, masks, and ID badges walked in. They looked identical to the hospital’s medical staff, save for a faint, imperceptible caution hidden in their eyes.
Their gazes immediately landed on Yun Sheng, their attitudes exceptionally respectful.
One of them spoke first, his tone polite and sincere. "Miss Yun, we are physicians from the hospital’s psychiatric department. We just heard that you successfully completed the spiritual guiding for Young Master Lin and stabilized his severely rampaging spiritual power with excellent results. Dean Zhang specifically sent us over to invite you for a visit. There are some professional questions we would like to consult you on."
Yun Sheng lowered her eyes and pursed her lips in feigned hesitation. A hint of difficulty and reluctance appeared on her face. Acting as though she was ill-equipped to handle such a situation, she delayed giving an answer.
From her hospital bed, Lin Yueyao took all of this in. She felt secretly smug, yet she maintained a gentle and amiable facade, speaking up at just the right moment to fan the flames.
"Yun Sheng, the whole hospital is incredibly curious about you right now. You don’t have a spiritual body, and your Level is only B-level, yet your Guiding Ability far exceeds that of ordinary people. To be able to stabilize even a severe spiritual rampage is truly rare." She looked up with a gentle smile, every word deliberately elevating Yun Sheng’s status. "Why don’t you go take a look? If your unique guiding experience can help the hospital, they might be able to save more Sentinels who lose control in the future. It’s a good deed that accumulates good karma, after all."
The two disguised doctors immediately chimed in, echoing each other to put Yun Sheng on a pedestal.
"Indeed, Miss Yun. Your case is far too unique and holds immense research value. It will be a tremendous help to the entire field of spiritual guiding," one of them said.
"Please, we beg you to make the trip. The entire medical staff is waiting to learn from you. Perhaps this could benefit even more patients," the other added.
Every word they spoke was a compliment and a piece of flattery, fully leveraging morality and the greater good to corner her, leaving Yun Sheng with absolutely no room to refuse.
A trace of mockery flashed through Yun Sheng’s eyes, but on the surface, she pretended to be persuaded. After hesitating for a moment, she nodded slightly.
"Alright. I’ll go take a look then. It would be best if I can help."
Seeing her agree, a hidden, triumphant smile quickly flashed across Lin Yueyao’s eyes.
Just as Yun Sheng lifted her foot to leave, Su Wan hurriedly stepped forward and gently grabbed her wrist.
"Yun Sheng, don’t force yourself. You must be tired after just finishing a guiding session. Just go and offer some basic cooperation. Please don’t exhaust yourself."
Faced with Su Wan’s genuine concern, Yun Sheng felt no ripples of emotion in her heart. She inconspicuously pulled her hand back, her tone flat and distant. "I understand. Thank you, Madam."
With that, she didn’t spare Su Wan another glance. She followed the two doctors straight out of the ward, closing the door behind her.
Watching Yun Sheng’s retreating back, Su Wan froze in place. She maintained her raised hand posture, her fingertips feeling terribly empty as a wave of inexplicable suffocation welled up in her chest. Ever since returning from the wilderness training, Yun Sheng had become increasingly cold and distant toward her. The alienation was so palpable it hurt, yet Su Wan couldn’t quite put her finger on what the problem was. She only felt a heavy, stifling block in her heart.
Meanwhile, the moment the door clicked shut, Lin Yueyao shed all her meek, well-behaved camouflage on the hospital bed. She slowly looked up, her eyes utterly cold and sinister.
"It’s done," she thought. Once Yun Sheng left with those two, whatever happened next would be completely out of her hands!
Meanwhile, in the corridor.
The two fake doctors led the way, deliberately steering toward a secluded examination passageway to avoid the surveillance cameras and crowds in the main corridor.
Yun Sheng trailed behind them at a leisurely pace. Her expression was relaxed and serene, her eyes lowered, making her look entirely at ease and completely unguarded. Deep in her eyes, however, there was absolute clarity. The pair’s deliberate detours, their frequent exchanges of glances, and their subtle acceleration—she missed not a single one of their abnormal little movements.
Several meters behind the trio, a tall, straight figure shadowed them soundlessly from within the darkness.
Si Jin had changed into a set of standard medical scrubs. He blended into the shadows of the corridor, his upright posture not appearing the least bit conspicuous. His footsteps were incredibly light, landing without a sound. He maintained a safe distance from Yun Sheng at all times. His deep gaze remained locked on that slender figure ahead without blinking, his eyes brimming with unconcealable tenderness and tension.
Even knowing the entire layout and knowing she was well-prepared, as long as she was in danger, he dared not relax even a fraction. All his attention was focused entirely on her, strictly guarding against her suffering even the slightest harm.
Watching Yun Sheng obediently follow those two, Si Jin swallowed lightly. He opened his terminal and quickly tapped out a message, sending it to Yun Sheng up ahead.
[Don’t worry. I’m right behind you.]
The terminal vibrated. Yun Sheng looked down to open the message, feeling even more grounded and secure.
[I know. Don’t worry, my acting is excellent. I haven’t shown any flaws.]
[Yeah, our Shengsheng is the best. But don’t push yourself. If anything feels even slightly off, don’t worry about anything else—just turn around and run. I will protect you immediately.]
Those two short sentences lacked any sharp aura; they were filled only with absolute indulgence and protectiveness.
Yun Sheng looked at the terminal screen, the corners of her lips turning up slightly as a shallow warmth brushed past her eyes. She raised her hand and quickly typed out an obedient [Okay~], then looked up again. Her face once again donned that gentle, harmlessly calm guise as she continued to trail unhurriedly behind the two fake doctors.
Completely oblivious, the two fake doctors continued to quicken their pace, intent only on luring Yun Sheng to the abandoned dark room they had set up in advance.
Never in their wildest dreams could they have imagined that the prey they thought they had firmly in their grasp was already colluding with the hunter in the shadows, stepping forward with leisure, just waiting to catch them all in one fell swoop.
