Chapter 272: What Did You Say? That Mo Chen Also Entered Your Dream
Chapter 272: Chapter 272: What Did You Say? That Mo Chen Also Entered Your Dream
Next morning, soft morning light filtered through the gap in the curtains, falling onto the bed. Yun Sheng was woken up by her alarm. She rolled over, lazily lingering in bed for a while before slowly opening her eyes.
Subconsciously moving her fingertips, her spiritual power spread out from them, much more condensed than when she was in Zone 10. Soon, five thin needles of spiritual power formed at her fingertips. With a gentle flick, the thin needles circled in front of her eyes and dissipated into the air.
Yun Sheng curved the corners of her lips. It seemed she had rested well last night; not only had her spiritual power stabilized, but it had also improved.
Just then, the terminal on her wrist rang, the name "Lin Mo" flashing on the screen. Yun Sheng tapped to answer, her voice still carrying the soft, nasal tone of someone who had just woken up. "Hello?"
Si Jin’s deep, magnetic voice immediately came through the line, carrying just the right amount of doting. It spilled through the receiver, so tender it could melt a heart. "You’re awake? Did you sleep well last night?"
"Yeah," Yun Sheng murmured, rubbing her eyes, her voice soft and mushy. "Not bad."
Si Jin chuckled low. The vibration of his chest transmitted through the receiver, tickling Yun Sheng’s heart. "I’m near your house. What do you want for breakfast? Should I buy something and bring it over, or do you want to eat out?"
Yun Sheng gently rubbed the screen of her terminal, hesitating for a second. "Let’s eat out. I don’t want to run into Lin Yueyao and the others."
"Alright. Then I’ll wait for you at the door. Take your time getting ready, there’s no rush."
"Okay," Yun Sheng responded. She hung up the call and got out of bed.
She walked to the window and pulled open the curtains. The morning light flooded in, falling warmly onto her face. She quickly freshened up. As she went downstairs, she deliberately lightened her footsteps, averting her gaze from the dining and living rooms to avoid anyone from the Lin family. However, she was still stopped by Su Wan, who happened to be walking out of the dining room.
Su Wan looked extremely haggard, her eyes bloodshot and carrying unconcealable exhaustion. It was likely she hadn’t rested well last night, or perhaps she had gotten into an argument with Lin Zhenye over Su Yuanzhou wanting to host a recognition banquet. "Yun Sheng, are you... are you going out? Are you not eating breakfast at home?"
Her voice was a bit hoarse, hiding a trace of cautious probing.
Yun Sheng stopped in her tracks but didn’t turn around. Her tone was completely devoid of emotion. "Yeah, I made plans to eat out with Lin Mo."
Su Wan looked at her cold profile, her fingers unconsciously clutching the hem of her clothes. She hesitated for a long while before speaking. "Yun Sheng, that card I gave you before... have you never used it?"
Yun Sheng paused, her footsteps halting. Su Wan had indeed given her a card containing one million Star Coins. She had even specifically mentioned that she would deposit an allowance into it every month. However, she had been busy with the Tower training before, her mind entirely focused on improving her spiritual power. She simply hadn’t had the chance to spend money. She had casually tossed the card into a drawer and gradually forgotten about it.
Seeing her remain silent for a long time, Su Wan’s expression darkened a bit more. "Yun Sheng, are you blaming me?"
In truth, she had always felt guilty about Yun Sheng, always wanting to do something to make up to her, but not knowing how. Giving her a card was the most direct method she could think of. But seeing that Yun Sheng hadn’t used it, she couldn’t help but overthink, feeling that Yun Sheng was deliberately distancing herself and resenting her.
Yun Sheng slowly turned around. Looking at Su Wan’s haggard and guilty appearance, there was no resentment in her eyes, only a faint trace of alienation. "I don’t blame you. As for the card, I was busy with the Tower training before, so I didn’t use it. It wasn’t intentional."
Her feelings toward Su Wan had always been complex. In the original storyline, when the original host first returned to the Lin family, Su Wan genuinely wanted to make amends, but her bond with Lin Yueyao was deeper. Whenever Lin Yueyao cried, Su Wan’s heart would ache, and she was more inclined to believe the child she had personally raised. She felt guilty toward the original host but lacked trust in her, which slowly pushed the original host into the abyss.
The current Su Wan was just like in the original plot: simultaneously feeling guilty and wanting to make amends, while also aching for Lin Yueyao and unable to let her go. But in this world, how could one have the best of both worlds? Especially with Lin Yueyao being so deeply scheming.
"Really? Yun Sheng, you truly don’t blame me?" Hearing Yun Sheng’s words, a glimmer of light instantly appeared in Su Wan’s eyes. Like grasping at a lifesaver, she hurriedly pressed for confirmation.
"Yeah." Yun Sheng nodded gently. Her gaze swept over the bloodshot veins in Su Wan’s eyes, and her tone softened slightly, though it still carried a sense of alienation. "I’ll be going now. Lin Mo is still waiting for me."
Su Wan nodded quickly, not daring to keep her any longer. "Okay, okay, go on. Don’t make him wait. If the breakfast outside doesn’t suit your taste, just call me. I’ll have the kitchen make something and send it over to you."
"Okay," Yun Sheng replied casually and walked straight toward the door.
Su Wan stood in place, watching her back. She let out a soft sigh, her eyes full of helplessness and guilt. She knew that to make it up to Yun Sheng and close the distance between them, there was still a long road ahead, but she didn’t want to give up!
Stepping out of the villa’s main gate, Yun Sheng spotted Si Jin’s figure at a glance. He was leaning against a hovercar, his posture as upright as a pine tree. The warm morning light poured down, falling upon him as if bathing him in a soft golden glow.
Yun Sheng paused in her steps, nearly blinded by the sight. She thought to herself, "Good thing Si Jin is wearing Lin Mo’s face right now. If it were his own face, looking like this, he’d probably mesmerize a whole crowd."
Seeing her, the doting in Si Jin’s eyes instantly overflowed. He pulled open the car door and said gently, "Get in. It’s sunny outside."
Yun Sheng smiled, nodded, and bent down to get into the car.
The car started slowly. The cabin was filled with a faint warmth, quiet and cozy. She leaned against Si Jin, grabbing his well-defined knuckles to play with his fingers.
Suddenly, she said, "Oh, by the way, Bai Ye sent me a message yesterday."
Si Jin turned his head to look at her. "What did he say?"
"He said that after the Tower’s spiritual power test concludes this afternoon, he’ll take me to the Central Star Domain High-level Biological Spirit Research Institute to meet a man named Mo Chen. He wants Mo Chen to give me a full-body checkup to examine my spiritual power."
Upon hearing this, Si Jin’s expression showed no surprise at all. "I know about this. Bai Ye mentioned it to me before. Mo Chen is indeed very professional in the field of spiritual power research. Having him take a look at you will give us some peace of mind."
He had known about this for a while and had secretly gotten someone to thoroughly investigate Mo Chen’s background. He only refrained from stopping it after confirming there were no issues with the man.
But just then, Yun Sheng continued softly, "Last time in Zone 10, didn’t I fall into a coma because my spiritual power was unstable? Actually, I entered a dream that time too, and in that dreamscape, I met Mo Chen."
Hearing this, the gentle smile on Si Jin’s face instantly faded. He turned to look at Yun Sheng, the doting in his eyes replaced by solemnity and a clear trace of tension.
"What did you say?" he asked in a deep voice. "That Mo Chen also entered your dreamscape?"
