Chapter 264: Yun Sheng and I Are Together, We Are Lovers
Chapter 264: Chapter 264: Yun Sheng and I Are Together, We Are Lovers
Bai Ye’s underlying concern instantly froze. His brows slightly furrowed, and a barely noticeable trace of bitterness flickered across his face. He didn’t even need to guess to know who was on the other end of the terminal. Aside from Si Jin, no one could make Yun Sheng speak in such a soft, relaxed, and familiar tone.
He still stood where he was, not yet having the time to suppress his surging emotions, when Yun Sheng hung up the call by the window and turned around. Her gaze met his directly. For a moment, the air seemed filled with an indescribable, subtle tension.
Bai Ye was the first to recover. Concealing the bitterness and disappointment he hadn’t managed to hide earlier, he said in a low voice, "I’ll head back first. Contact me anytime if you need anything."
Hearing this, Yun Sheng gave a light nod.
Seeing that she had no intention of asking him to stay, Bai Ye’s eyes dimmed. However, he didn’t linger or say anything else. He knew very well that Lin Yueyao’s display of clinging to Su Wan to act spoiled and weak was ostensibly to seek comfort, but in reality, it was a deliberate show to make Yun Sheng feel bad. If he continued to stay, there was no telling what other excessive things Lin Yueyao might do given her temperament.
Even though he had no intention of hiding his feelings for Yun Sheng anymore and would never give up on her, he didn’t want his presence to put her in an even more awkward position within the Lin family. He refused to let her suffer even the slightest bit of grievance on his account. Having made up his mind, Bai Ye walked toward the door.
After he left, the atmosphere in the room eased slightly. Su Wan supported Lin Yueyao and slowly walked her over to a chair by the bed. She gently patted her back, comforting her patiently. It wasn’t until Lin Yueyao’s crying gradually subsided and her emotions calmed down that Su Wan walked over to Yun Sheng.
"Yun Sheng, who called you just now? Are they coming over?" she asked softly.
"It was Lin Mo. You’ve met him before, Mrs. Lin." Yun Sheng looked up at Su Wan, an unconscious gentleness rippling in her eyes as her features softened.
Su Wan paused, thinking carefully before she suddenly remembered who Lin Mo was. "Oh, Mr. Lin, the one who came to the house to deliver flowers to you last time? I remember him. He looked quite refined and was very polite."
Yun Sheng nodded gently, a very faint smile playing on her lips, and her tone grew even softer. "Yes, it’s him. His hospital happened to send him near Zone 10 to gather medicinal herbs, and he came back with me. He found out about Lin Hao’s accident and wanted to visit."
Watching her expression, Su Wan instinctively leaned a half-step closer and probed, "Yun Sheng, this Mr. Lin... what is the relationship between you two?"
The question caught her off guard. Yun Sheng froze for a moment before a look of hesitation appeared on her face. She didn’t know if she should tell Su Wan about her relationship with Lin Mo. After all, Lin Mo was just a disguise for Si Jin. If she revealed their relationship, it would inevitably blow his cover once Si Jin resumed his real identity in the future. But if she didn’t say anything, Si Jin would definitely come looking for her often. Over time, Su Wan would inevitably grow suspicious, and it would be even harder to explain then.
The hesitation in Yun Sheng’s expression became increasingly obvious, and she remained silent for quite a while.
Just then, a sudden KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK on the door rang out, perfectly breaking the slightly awkward silence.
Yun Sheng instantly breathed a sigh of relief. The hesitation in her eyes dissipated, and her tone lightened considerably as she said softly to Su Wan, "That should be Lin Mo." With that, she turned, walked toward the entrance, and gently pulled the door open.
Outside stood Si Jin in his disguise, his posture tall and straight, his features gentle. He carried an exquisite silver insulated gift box. It was a nutritional tonic box unique to the interstellar era, specifically designed for visiting patients. In his other hand, he held a bouquet of interstellar-cultivated Star Velvet Flowers. The petals were a lustrous white, shimmering with a fine sheen, and emitted a light, elegant fragrance—clearly prepared especially for Yun Sheng.
Si Jin’s gaze landed on Yun Sheng, his eyes instantly brimming with an unfathomably deep tenderness.
"The hospital had to go through layers of reviews last night, which delayed things quite a bit. The results only came out this morning. I kept you waiting." As he spoke, he unconsciously took a half-step forward.
The corners of Yun Sheng’s lips curled up involuntarily. "It’s fine. Did you just make do and sleep at the hospital last night? Are you tired?"
Hearing this, Si Jin chuckled softly. With a hint of an SSS-level Sentinel’s arrogance—and an even deeper, coaxing indulgence—he raised his hand and gently ruffled the top of her head in a familiar and natural motion. "I’m an SSS-level Sentinel. How could I be tired?" With that, he presented the Star Velvet Flowers to Yun Sheng. "For you. See if you like them?"
Yun Sheng reached out to take the bouquet. Her fingertips inadvertently brushed against his, and at the warm touch, the smile in her eyes deepened instantly. "I like them. They’re beautiful."
Seeing the joy in her eyes, the corners of Si Jin’s lips lifted subconsciously, his tenderness threatening to overflow. He then followed Yun Sheng into the room. Upon seeing Su Wan, he immediately greeted her.
"Mrs. Lin, apologies for the intrusion. I heard that Lin Hao was injured and came over specifically to see him."
Su Wan looked him up and down before replying in a gentle tone, "That’s very thoughtful of you to make a special trip here." Her impression of Lin Mo hadn’t been bad to begin with, and seeing how considerate he was now, her favor toward him increased even more.
Si Jin gave a slight nod, then offered the silver insulated nutritional gift box to Su Wan. "This is a mild nutritional tonic soup specially made by our hospital. It’s perfect for Lin Hao’s current recovery. Please accept it, Mrs. Lin."
"Thank you," Su Wan said as she reached out to take it.
At this moment, Lin Yueyao, who had been silent all this time, suddenly looked over, her gaze landing squarely on Si Jin.
"Mr. Lin, what is your relationship with my sister?"
She had heard Su Wan ask Yun Sheng this question earlier, but Yun Sheng hadn’t answered. She had seen it very clearly just now: the softness and intimacy in Yun Sheng’s eyes when she looked at this Lin Mo were far more natural than when she was with Bai Ye. The relationship between Yun Sheng and this Lin Mo was definitely not simple!
Hearing Lin Yueyao’s question, Si Jin raised an eyebrow. Instead of answering directly, he slowly turned to look at Yun Sheng beside him, as if waiting for her to nod in consent before clarifying their relationship. He respected Yun Sheng’s wishes and refused to force her into doing anything she didn’t want to do.
Feeling his gaze, Yun Sheng glanced at Lin Yueyao’s obviously unfriendly expression. She gently tugged at Si Jin’s sleeve, leaned slightly closer to him, and lowered her voice to ask, "Is it... convenient for you to say?"
It wasn’t that she was unwilling to admit it, but she was concerned about Si Jin’s true identity and wasn’t sure if it could be revealed.
Si Jin chuckled deeply. The tenderness in his eyes intensified as he naturally took her hand, his fingers firmly wrapping around hers. His tone was firm yet doting. "What’s inconvenient about it?"
Then, he lifted his eyes to look at Su Wan and Lin Yueyao. With a candid expression and a clear tone, he spoke.
"Yun Sheng and I are together. We’re a couple."
