Chapter 3847: Starting Work on Scale
"Leave the bracers," Alex told the Artifact God. "Let him handle them and use them. For now, prepare the scale."
Shen Yaojia nodded quickly and took off both her bracers, handing the Three-Star God Reducing Bracer to Ray. The other bracer she kept aside as she knelt down to dust away anything on the scale before it was time to start.
Alex quickly explained to Ray what it was that he was planning, to which the bird gave a single nod in understanding. Since their conversation had taken place through their bond, the God had no way of telling that something had even been conveyed.
"Please move further back. I shall begin now."
Shen Yaojia nodded and stepped away from the scale, letting the bird do what it needed to do.
A moment later, the bronze artifact flew up in the air. At the same time, a strong aura gathered around it instantly. Even without her Divine sense, the Artifact God could tell the potency of the aura that was gathering before her. Her eyes widened with shock upon realizing that something incredible was happening.
She remained quiet for now, letting the bird do what it must.
Slowly, the gathered aura flowed into the artifact, activating it. The empowered artifact began producing the Reduction aura that was a combination of Softness, Melting, and Malleability, and poured it all into the scale before it.
The Artifact God looked closely at the scale, waiting for the aura to affect it. She could see the three colors of the artifact come alive, but she couldn’t see any effects beyond that. For a second, she even wondered if anything was happening at all.
However, after some thought, she decided that it was working. If nothing else, she could sense the outgoing aura, and it was exactly what had been there before. She waited for the aura to continue filling the scale, but at the rate things were going, it was going to take a very long time.
"How much longer do you think this will take?" she asked Alex.
Alex had no idea either. "How long did it take to fill the feather?"
"A few hours," she said. "No more than 2."
"Hmm, this is not comparable to a feather, is it? Even though it’s technically a similar part of the beast, the scale is thousands of times stronger and more of a problem than the feather ever was," Alex said.
The Artifact God nodded. "Most beasts have weak fur and feathers. It is the rest of their body that is more important," she said. "In this case, that would be the scale."
"Then, this will take a long while, won’t it?" Alex asked. "Maybe a few days."
"Maybe even a month," the Artifact God said after thinking for a bit. She sighed in the end. "What am I supposed to do for a month now? Just stay and watch?"
Alex thought for a moment. "Would you like a tour of the place?" he asked. "That should help you waste some of your time."
The Artifact God raised an eyebrow. "Hmm. That doesn’t sound bad at all. Let’s start with the World Tree."
She was fascinated enough by the tree, so Alex accepted her proposal. "Would you like me to teleport you there, or do you want to walk?"
"I’ll walk," she said. "Need to take the scenic route here."
Alex allowed her to do that. The Artifact God walked through the region inside Alex’s Soul Space, looking throughout the place with great curiosity. She had known somewhat about such places existing inside a Soul Space, but she hadn’t really heard about one where life was supported.
The Sky God had a similar place in her Soul Space as well, but from what she had heard, it was a vacant place with nothing growing at all. It was more of a place to keep things than a place to live.
However, this was so much different. The Nine Yang Divine Tree gave light and life to this place that couldn’t exist otherwise. And the fact that it was all a secret realm also helped with having an atmosphere around this place.
But more than that, it was the abundant presence of Qi that made this place unbelievable. If she was forced to, she could probably cultivate in this place and be fine for the most part. She would certainly struggle when it came to forming her own Axiom and breaking through, but simply cultivating wouldn’t be a problem.
Along the way to the World Tree, the Artifact God noticed a place where large mulberry trees grew, along with several crawling silkworms in a place established for them. She raised an eyebrow.
"Do you raise beasts here too?" she asked.
"Just the silkworms," Alex said.
"You must have a decent amount of it, then," she said.
"I have a few spools," Alex said.
"Great. You can do a lot with those. Make sure to make good use of them," she said.
Alex grew slightly curious upon hearing her speak about the silkworms like that. "Do you have any idea what it is that one can make with them? I was considering making some sort of robe with them."
"An entire robe?" she asked, slightly flabbergasted. "That’s overdoing it a lot. You don’t need that many threads to do the bare minimum."
"And what’s the bare minimum?" Alex asked her.
The Artifact God paused for a second. "To keep you hidden from the Heavens," she said. "You do need a certain amount for that, but you can check it yourself."
"I can? How?" Alex asked.
"Well... you can see how many threads you need before you can’t call for a Heavenly Tribulation," she said.
Alex couldn’t help but laugh. "If I make a mistake there, I’m calling Tribulation Lightning for no reason, aren’t I?" he asked. "That’s a bit risky."
"For regular people, that is the only way to check if the Heavens still realize whether they’re there or not," she said. "For a Half God, though, I believe there is a better method to check that, isn’t there?"
