Chapter 3779: First Challenger
Chapter 3779: First Challenger
Alex counted the number of people that were there. In total, there were exactly 33 people, all of whom had cultivation bases of Immortal Spirit 8th realm or higher. The only exceptions to this were Luo Sheng, as well as a young woman from the Violet Mist Sect that he hadn’t seen before today. They were weak, but they had managed to survive for as long as they did because they had Sentinels aiding them. Alex could faintly sense the aura of the two hidden Divinities far to the left beyond a rock wall.
Alex looked through them all. "May I ask what the occasion is for me to be welcomed by all of you?"
"It is really simple, Brother Dawnblade," Fang Xianhai said. "We fear that you may end up winning the entire thing, so we were hoping to find a way to get you to leave this secret realm. We are prepared to help you with anything you may need on the outside. Or if you do not wish for anything, we are going to fight you one after another until you can’t continue. What do you think?"
Alex didn’t speak immediately, merely looking around.
He noticed Luo Qingruo in the back too. They hadn’t stopped at anything to gather this group.
"I see," Alex said finally, slowly nodding. His nods gave the group hope. "If that is what you wish, I have only 2 things to say, really."
The group listened with perked-up ears.
"First of all, please refer to me as the Sun God henceforth," Alex said. "And secondly, I do not have anything I could want from you, so you might as well all come and take your pick in how you want to lose."
Alex’s confident behavior got Fang Xianhai and the others to shrink a little. They looked around, trying to understand what they were going to have to do next. But it was obvious enough what it was that they had to do.
They had to challenge Alex.
Fang Xianhai sighed. "Alright, who goes first?"
The others looked at each other, trying to measure the other person to see if they would be willing to take the fall for the group. As no one truly wanted to go up first, Jin Yuelan stepped up.
"I’ll do it."
Alex watched the man come over. He smiled a little as the man approached. "Where is your gaggle of women that always followed you?" he asked. "I don’t see many around."
Jin Yuelan gave a genuine answer.
"I decided to send them all away once the new rule was added," he said. "After that, I heard about you and decided to try my hand at seeing how well I will do. I have heard a lot about your fights, but a lot of it sounds exaggerated, not that I care. Before I am a fighter though, I’m actually an Alchemist. I hear you are a great one as well, so I wish to have a test, if you would agree."
Alex accepted. "Go ahead and challenge me. I will make it an Alchemy test just the way you want."
Jin Yuelan did. Alex accepted the challenge and quickly set the rule based on Jin Yuelan’s suggestion. It was a regular pill-making battle where Jin Yuelan had a few recipes for specific pills. Whoever could make the best one of the three, they would win.
Alex had no reason not to accept.
Jin Yuelan quickly sat down and brought out a green cauldron to go with his flames. Alex brought out Memory as well. The cauldron arrived in a flash, and although she looked worse in comparison design-wise, Alex had no doubt she was a better cauldron than whatever Jin Yuelan was working with.
"Before we start," Alex said as the ingredients were prepared before him. "I just have one thing to say."
Jin Yuelan looked up and gestured for Alex to speak.
"Will you refer to me as the Sun God?" he asked. "If you do, I will go easy on you. You might’ve heard about me doing that to others."
"I have heard of it," Jin Yuelan said. "But that doesn’t matter to me. Especially me, since I am trying to surpass you. You will never be a god to me."
Alex could only give a soft hint of a smile and move back. He read through the recipe again, making sure he understood the gist of it before starting.
"Ready?" Alex asked Jin Yuelan, who could be said to be nothing but that in the moment. The man was so concentrated on his task that he might as well have already moved on to the next step.
Seeing that the man was likely ready, Alex created the yellow flames.
Immediately, Jin Yuelan’s eyes narrowed upon Alex’s flames. He could not believe what he was looking at. The type of fire Alex had created was quite frankly the plainest-looking fire ever, but at the same time, very bright and wonderful.
He didn’t think much beyond that, as he didn’t believe there was much to think about. He instead looked down at his own cauldron as his green flames covered it, increasing the temperature to the appropriate state before he opened the box for his first ingredient.
Opening the box, he brought out an ancient root from a premature ginseng tree.
The root would be used all by itself, so Jin Yuelan pulled out the cauldron’s lid to place his first ingredient inside. The moment he did, a loud sound brought him out of his pill-making session, forcing him to look up at the thick clouds that surrounded the area entirely.
"What is—"
Before he could even wonder about what was going on, a single bolt of lightning fell down from the sky and landed before Alex.
Slowly, Jin Yuelan’s eyes landed on Alex’s cauldron and then on the clouds above. He put two and two together and realized what had just happened.
In the time it took for him to heat his cauldron and place the first ingredient, Alex had already called upon the Pill Clouds.
