Chapter 649 - 317: I’m Done Arguing with You
Chapter 649: Chapter 317: I’m Done Arguing with You
"Who was it last night saying they were going to beat up Sun Yang? Now you’re talking about being civilized. What a double standard!"
Han Ruoxi was speechless and rolled her eyes.
"Fine, fine, I won’t argue with you. I’m going to get my gear, okay?!"
Meanwhile, Shen Qiuyue was already geared up and ready to go. She stood at the entrance of the lounge, Dueling Sword in hand, and spoke calmly.
"You all better hurry up. If you keep dawdling, you’ll miss the supply distribution from logistics!"
Sun Yang came running out, buckling his boots as he went.
"Miss, can’t you relax a little? It’s still early! Those guys in logistics always drag their feet. We’ll just end up waiting even if we go now!"
Shen Qiuyue glanced at him, the corners of her mouth turning up slightly.
"Waiting is fine, but if you dare drag us down during the mission, I don’t mind using you for a little Swordsmanship practice first!"
"Hey, I wouldn’t dare!" Sun Yang said, waving his hands and forcing an ugly smile.
"Sister Qiuyue, you’re the main force of our squad. If I held you back, wouldn’t I just be asking for a death wish?"
Bai Lin walked out of his room holding a small terminal device and said in a low voice.
"Logistics just sent a notification. The mission supplies are ready. Rendezvous time at the supply depot is five-thirty.
Any later, and they won’t finish distributing the supplies!"
"You hear that?" Li Chang’an clapped his hands.
"Five minutes to assemble. Move it!"
A few minutes later, the fully armed squad members stood at the entrance to the supply depot.
The logistics soldiers were busy distributing equipment, with several large crates piled in the center of the area.
A logistics officer walked over, checklist in hand, and glanced at Li Chang’an.
"Insect Hunter Squad? These are your supplies for this mission. You’ve got Enhanced Ammunition, a set of simple tactical drones, and two medical injectors!"
Han Ruoxi stepped forward to look through the supplies, her brows furrowed.
"That’s it? For an assault on an Alien Martial Artist stronghold, is this even enough? Are there any more Energy Supplement Devices?"
The officer shrugged.
"That’s all there is. Resources are tight. You’re lucky to get this much.
Besides, you’re just the vanguard for the initial phase of the mission. You don’t need to be fully armed!"
"Vanguard?" Li Chang’an’s eyes flickered.
"What do you mean? Are there other squads on this mission?"
"That’s right!" The officer nodded.
"There are support teams following up. Your job is to clear the outer obstacles and ensure the main force can push in smoothly!"
"Alright." Li Chang’an didn’t ask any more questions and directed his team to start distributing the supplies.
"Ruo Xi, you’re on drone control. Sun Yang, take the Enhanced Ammunition and medical injectors. Qiuyue, keep an eye on the Energy devices; don’t waste them!"
Sun Yang muttered as he picked up a crate of ammo.
"Captain, so we’re just the trailblazers this time? Doesn’t sound like that big of a job!"
Han Ruoxi sneered.
"You should be grateful. Vanguard missions are dangerous, but you can also earn merits.
Besides, do you really think you could handle a large-scale battle like the main force will face?"
"Good point!" Sun Yang nodded.
"With my small frame, I’m okay with charging, but a direct confrontation is definitely dicey!"
After organizing their supplies, the squad members headed to the assembly point.
A few armored personnel carriers were already parked there, waiting to transport them to the target location.
Instructor Wei Zhuang stood by a vehicle. Seeing them approach, he waved.
"You were reasonably fast.
The mission briefing has been sent to your terminals. Read it in the vehicle, don’t waste time!"
"Understood!" Li Chang’an led the way onto the vehicle, with the other team members following close behind.
The space inside the vehicle was cramped, but they were already used to such conditions.
Han Ruoxi sat in a corner, opened her terminal, and began reading the briefing.
"The outpost’s outer defenses consist of five to seven Alien Martial Artists, mainly remnants of the Wandering Martial Artist Group!" she read aloud as she scrolled.
"There might be more on the inside, but the exact number is unknown.
Looks like we have to clear the perimeter first!"
Sun Yang scratched his head.
"Five to seven? That doesn’t sound like a lot. We can totally handle that.
You think the instructor was exaggerating?"
Shen Qiuyue spoke calmly.
"Don’t be too optimistic.
Alien Martial Artists’ combat power is generally a cut above that of ordinary humans. Plus, with their equipment and tactics, you can’t underestimate them, no matter how few there are!"
"She’s right," Li Chang’an agreed with a nod.
"We stick to the plan. Once the perimeter is clear, we pull out immediately. No lingering to fight!"
The cabin fell quiet for a moment, with only the roar of the personnel carrier echoing in their ears.
Soon, the convoy left the base, heading for the outer perimeter of the Alien Martial Artist stronghold.
The vehicles rumbled across the wasteland. Outside the window was a stretch of withered, open country, with the faint outlines of collapsed buildings visible in the distance.
Han Ruoxi leaned against the vehicle wall, clutching the drone’s control terminal and staring at the real-time terrain map on the screen.
"Captain, how much longer until we reach the destination?" Han Ruoxi asked, looking up with a hint of impatience in her voice.
"Almost there!" Li Chang’an said, glancing at the time on his wrist.
"Probably another twenty minutes or so.
Use this time to go over your roles again. Don’t wait until we get there to start panicking!"
"Panic?" Sun Yang mumbled indistinctly, leaning against the side of the cabin with an Energy Bar in his mouth.
"Captain, you make it sound like we’re a bunch of rookies.
Besides, a vanguard mission like this is just about chopping up some Alien Martial Artists and taking out a few sentry posts, right? At worst, we toss a few grenades!"
"How about this, then?" Li Chang’an glanced at him.
"When we get there, you go in first. The rest of us will provide cover from behind. How about it?"
The Energy Bar nearly fell out of Sun Yang’s mouth. He quickly waved his hands.
