Doted By The Regent King

Chapter 2001 - 1939: Taking Your Hand

Chapter 2001: Chapter 1939: Taking Your Hand

To hasten the wedding gifts, a poem urging the marriage must be composed. Among the entourage coming to greet the bride were, besides Prince Jin himself, a group of talented young men and guards dressed in splendid new attire, with the talented Master Yan Er among them.

So, composing such a poem was no problem at all, readily coming up with ten verses.

The welcoming party was full of vigor, vowing to assist Prince Jin in swiftly bringing home the Princess Consort.

Challenges posed by the bride’s side, whether through word games, duels of wit or strength, were all swiftly unraveled; some noble ladies felt a bit frustrated, for there was quite a disparity in skill on both sides.

Wufu sat inside the house, listening to Purple Jade recounting the situation outside, giggling joyfully. She contemplated for a moment, then asked Purple Jade to bring paper and brush, quickly writing down several questions and answers, and handed them to her: "Here, my divine assistance; let them guess."

Purple Jade took a look, her mouth twitching slightly; what kind of riddles and answers are these?

Wufu curved her lips; these were not difficult questions, merely brain teasers.

She walked towards the window, hearing a woman loudly pose a question outside: "Young General Gao said to Talented Master Yan: I can sit in a place you will never be able to. Where is that place?"

"..."

Silence.

Is there any place where Talented Master Yan cannot sit?

Answers came one after another: on horseback, the rooftop, the city wall.

A short while later, Miss Qian triumphantly revealed the answer: "On Talented Master Yan’s back."

"..."

Silence, followed by laughter; what a tricky answer.

Wufu also laughed inside the house.

Another question came: "What kind of wine cannot be drunk?"

Silence again; what wine cannot be drunk?

Ah Jiu pondered too, glancing through the Moon Gate toward the house behind, as if he could see a silhouette, indulgently shaking his head; such tricky questions must have been posed by her, truly mischievous.

Indeed, the answer was "Everlasting", a somewhat puzzling response, but it did contain the word ’wine’!

After stumping the other side with consecutive questions, the gate-blocking noble ladies grew confident and posed several more questions, such as what kind of firewood cannot burn, or what is higher than the sky.

"Princess Consort, this should suffice, the auspicious hour is approaching." Purple Jade said with a smile.

"Yes."

She was merely evening the score for her side, without truly intending to miss the auspicious hour.

After the gate games were over, the wedding gifts departed.

When Hua Wushuang first arrived in Beiyan, he extravagantly displayed his wealth, so today, at Prince Jin’s grand wedding, many had been long waiting to see the Princess Consort of Jin’s wedding gifts.

The first lift included the Ruyi Jade bestowed by Empress Dowager Mo, followed by the Ruyi Jade Tree gifted by the Emperor, then various jewels, accessories, lands, and gold and silver, each lift following another, with the first procession entering the Prince’s mansion gates while those behind had yet to leave.

A display of wealth spanning ten miles, indeed.

At last, Prince Jin came before Wufu, who was adorned in a bright red wedding gown, gracefully standing with a gentle smile, and he couldn’t help but have a hint of a smile in his eyes.

"You’ve come." Wufu extended her hand towards him.

Ah Jiu nodded, reaching out to hold her hand: "Yes, I’ve come."

Holding your hand, to grow old together.

Holding your hand, the rest of my life is yours.

"Let’s go pay respects and bid farewell to Uncle." Ah Jiu tightly grasped her hand.

Wufu nodded, accompanying him to the main hall where Hua Wushuang, as the sole elder, sat above, watching the couple dressed in auspicious attire approaching, smiling and nodding.

The couple kneeled and offered tea, bidding farewell.

Wufu was carried out the door by Yan Er, this scene observed by many, who then thought of how the one who styled the Princess Consort’s hair was Old Madam Yan; the Yan Family would be one of Princess Consort of Jin’s future supports.
