However, since they were all kept away from the vicinity of the desk, their priority was relatively low. He couldn’t be half-assed about starting an Empire with powerful allies and ruling tons of cities behind it.

He wondered if she had finally gone crazy as he saw her trying to focus something into her palm, yet he could sense no circulation of energy. One sweep of his Heart Intent told him it wasn’t her Heart Intent either.
"What are you doing?"
Mingzhi stared into the fist like she was going to burn a hole in it, but hearing Davis, she eventually sighed as she dropped her hand.
"Trying to generate Haki- because it’s basically willpower manifestation into steel-like hardness without the hardness."
"..." Davis went speechless before he laughed silently, "It’s impossible for you to control your Will with just State of Control while you’re still an Empyrean. You need to become an Exalt at the very least."
Mingzhi heaved a breath, flipping a hair strand hanging before her face, "But you could do it, right?"
"Naturally. I even have Conqueror’s Haki."
Davis narrowed his eyes with a strange smile, causing Mingzhi to nearly jump as she gawked and pointed at him with a gaze full of warning.
"Ah!~ Don’t you dare use it on me."
"Hahaha." Davis had a good laugh as he stood up, "With that said, my control over my Will is still partial. To manifest it into the form of energy is very difficult. Usually, I would achieve this by imposing my Will through Heart Intent, but to just use the Will alone is nearly impossible. Will is more like that of an abstract emotion instead of something tangible. To make it tangible isn’t as easy as the mortal stories make it seem. Even if a mortal does manage to manifest, you better believe their souls would shatter from the sheer strain it puts on the soul. But who cares about mortals? I will teach you a Will Defense Technique now so you can defend against Will attacks. Learn it thoroughly."
"Mhm? You have a Will Defense Technique? Why haven’t you submitted it to the Treasury yet?"
"Because it’s from the Sky Word Emperor himself and cannot be shared easily, lest it carry over karma. I have made a modified version of it, but it only works for Heart Intent users, so make sure to learn it. I will develop a more refined version for everyone else later, and even have Sophie make artifacts that carry Will defense runes."
"Great. I hope it isn’t too confusing~"
"It isn’t. Most of the Sky Word Emperor’s Heart Intent techniques use inscriptions and runes of Sky Word Language. This is the same. Use the rune of [IMPOSE] and [BARRIER] separately but linked while circulating Heart Intent through the Emotion, Echo and Instinct Physical Souls and the Self Spiritual Soul to get to the Will and guard it."

Mingzhi quickly recalled Lady Thunderwraith’s words, which were compiled into records explaining the vastness of the Seven Physical Souls and the Three Spiritual Souls.
In short, the Vitality Physical Soul sustains the vibrancy of the soul, and improving it increases the longevity and recovery rate of the soul.
Perception Physical Soul is the reason the soul sense to be able to see using a prism of invisible light that refracts information back to the soul to comprehend and see.
Emotion Physical Soul is the core for the emotions of the consciousness. The soul fire that alchemists use also comes from this part. It is also the main culprit in the formation of ghosts, as they carry the resentment, rage, and unwillingness of the dead to reincarnate.
Memory Physical Soul contains the memories of their life when they were living. Without it, they would be hard-pressed to remember who they were.
Instinct Physical Soul contains the intuition and battle instincts, and serves as the bridge between the spiritual and physical souls.
Echo Physical Soul gives birth to the sentience of the consciousness, thoughts, and even internal dialogue. It is the echo of the self. When people forget themselves or forget something, it could even mystically warn them that they had something important to remember or do.
And finally, the Anchor Physical Soul, one of the important physical souls that forms the bridge between the flesh and the soul. Without this, it’s difficult to establish a connection with the body, even if the body belonged to them. If it was damaged while they were living, they could forget about using their soul body, or getting it out could be as hard as constipating. Furthermore, for ghosts, without this physical soul, it would be difficult for them to take over their corpse.
These seven physical souls formed the basis for a soul in its current life, and don’t even change much after turning undead.

Instead, they seemed to made up of two or three different layers with the Outer Layer is shaped to be in a yin-yang diagram, depicting the Self Spiritual Soul and the Life Spiritual Soul.
And inside both of these, in the Inner Layer, was the Origin Spiritual Soul.
It was believed the Origin Spiritual Soul carried the core identity of a soul across lifetimes. It was said to have an intricate connection to the Reincarnation Cycle, where it returns to start all over again, splitting into a new set of spiritual and physical souls. The Silent Wraith Hall in the Hydra Galaxy believed that the Origin Spiritual Soul was the place where karma, fate, and destiny were determined and from that connection, even retains attachments and emotions belonging to past lives.
As for the Self Spiritual Soul that Davis recommended that she circulate Heart Intent towards at the end, it was believed that was where the Will was located.
The core of the soul, the self, the Will. It holds one’s identity, self-awareness, and convictions. When it splits, it is said to create a Heart Demon.
Then there was the Life Spiritual Soul, which is located on the outer side of the Outer Layer’s Yin-Yang Diagram.
Pacts, contracts, and other matters that bind the soul happen here, like it was a mirror or true realm. But most importantly, it is the spiritual soul that governs the seven physical souls and imprints a copy of them nearly every moment. This information is then delivered to the Origin Spiritual Soul, which, when the soul dies one day, goes to the reincarnation cycle to register the karma of the life it lived.
This was merely one of the beliefs those two undead powers had, but Davis and Myria had arrived at the conclusion that there was some truth to some of it.
But the main problem at the moment was-
"How am I supposed to send my senses into the spiritual soul without harming it? I wouldn’t be able to see anything other than a bright blob that’s full of jealousy and avarice~"
Mingzhi pouted, causing Davis to laugh lightly before he caressed her face.
"I’ll teach you. Sit."
"I’m certain you weren’t able to do this before you left for the Hydra Realm. What happened?" Mingzhi asked curiously.
"Hahaa..."
Davis dryly chuckled. He couldn’t openly say he died many times, enough to glimpse the reformation of his soul from the Will, right?
Mingzhi would slap him if he bragged about putting himself in danger like that.
Regardless, he couldn’t really find where the Realm of Will was located in these Three Spiritual Souls. It was like he could teleport to it if he so wished. However, he guessed it was in the Origin Spiritual Soul, the very center of the Spiritual Souls where the core identity of the person, everything from the Will to the emotions, was imprinted but not reachable and corruptible.
If he could decipher this, Davis felt like if he were to use his fate-usurping techniques again, then no one could really gain their fates or souls back since they would’ve lost their footholds to revive back again!
The two of them sat together on the spot among the stack of documents. Davis placed his hand over her head and kept his thumb finger over her forehead. He sent a minute strand of soul sense inside, guiding her soul sense to follow him.
