Chapter 5198: Beyond All Of Us?
Chapter 5198: Beyond All Of Us?
On the other hand, countless experts dealt with the army of the undead. Casualties emerged on both sides very quickly.
"Kill! Kill! Kill!"
A black-robed old man, the Morvane Family’s Ancestor, roared as his Alpha Exalt Stage undulations soared. With two axes in his hands, he swept through the undead corpses and ghosts, slicing them apart with ease as darkness and blood danced like blades around him.
"Exterminate all the undead!"
Another yellow-robed man who appeared to be the Stone Abyss Monastery’s Ancestor from his clothes and the talisman stuck on his face shrieked like the undead, but his flesh and aura were of the living. His entombed earthed energy soared, particularly effective in sealing the undead.
Seeing these two erase the undead with extreme confidence, countless other experts roared and followed after them.
"Don’t leave any of them alive!"
"Fool, they’re already dead!"
"Who was that!?"
The Handsome Fatty berated some High-Level Exalt Stage expert as he weaved through the ghosts. He made a show of battling them, but the undead strangely didn’t seem to be interested in him, choosing to go to someone else to kill rather than him.
Hence, he had no choice but to harass a ghost to maintain his disguise of doing his duty. He took someone of his own size.
"Ahh, pervert!~"
But he just had to choose a female ghost.
The female ghost could only flee with the Will of the Divine Emperor of Death blocking her from attacking this fatty.
"Ah, pale beauty. Please don’t leave. I think we have met before. Weren’t you the Priestess of the Terrarl Clan of the Southern Sea Abyss who was kidnapped a hundred thousand years ago? I could not interfere back then, but I’ll save you now by allowing you to enter the reincarnation cycle."
Handsome Fatty reached out his hand, trying to stop her from leaving, while the female ghost was stunned, but still shrieked as she escaped.
On the edge of the abyssal cavity, Fairy Runalise and Venerable Knight Lussandra stayed still.
The undead also didn’t target them.
Fairy Runalise’s gaze was complicated. She felt compelled to eliminate these ghosts and corpses, but knew that would be backstabbing the Divine Emperor of Death, who is staying true to his words of not attacking them.
Venerable Knight Lussandra still had her eyes closed as she tried to heal her injuries as though she didn’t care. She had already recognized that the ghosts only attacked the experts within a certain radius. Anyone who entered this range was basically saying that they wanted to kill the Divine Emperor of Death.
She supposed she was the same as them, yet because of the Celestial Transcendent’s words, she was ousted from this battle.
She supposed there would be severe punishment imposed on her for getting one of the Celestial Transcendent’s avatars sealed.
However, she couldn’t understand.
The Divine Emperor of Death, despite all odds, still had the leisure to keep his word. She didn’t know if it was because he didn’t want to offend them gravely for fear of a bigger force acting against him or because it was simply a show of his true character.
After all the exchanges they had up until now, she had believed it was the former, but now felt inclined to believe in the latter.
She raised his head and gazed at him, fighting the Celestial Transcendent without fear in his eyes, a feat that most, if not all, Divergents lacked.
Once the Celestial Transcendent descended, it would be time to flee for them without turning back, no matter the plan they had, but he was staying here, facing him bravely while trying to overturn the Desolate Era.
Her heart couldn’t help but swell with admiration and respect, a feeling that betrayed her oath to keep the world safe by getting rid of all Divergents.
"Why do I have to face a Divergent like this? Why couldn’t he just be evil and spare me all these complex thoughts?" She couldn’t help but whisper with a complex look underneath her veil.
Fairy Runalise turned to look at her, "I didn’t have these complex thoughts before, as I thought all Divergents were innately evil. It turns out that our school of thought could be wrong."
"That’s obvious." Venerable Knight Lussandra said without batting an eyelid, "I’ve always dealt with the individual rather than shoving them all into a vilified category. The Supreme One has taught me from a young age, so I am aware that there are good Divergents, but it doesn’t matter when it comes to the safety of the universe and the innocents. We are forced to be murderers, but it is an unbiased sin I’m willing to accept, even if the heavens or the universe don’t consider it a sin. The Divergents are also helpless, unwittingly bringing calamity but this person- the Divine Emperor of Death, is creating a peace-loving family above all threats and attempting to overturn this calamity stemming from heaven’s wrath."
She turned to look at Fairy Runalise, "Do you remember? On top of eliminating Divergents, we swore to protect such good people during the time we learned and rose in the Heaven’s Warrior Organizations. Don’t you find yourself in a conundrum on what to do when you’re standing opposite this Divergent who embodies all those good and admirable traits?"
Fairy Runalise went silent.
She turned to look at the terrifying battle of the Divine Emperor of Death and the Celestial Transcendent that left spirals of cracks in their wake.
"I’m thinking this is above us all. Perhaps, with the advent of these Divergents, a new era could dawn upon us, and to be clear, I’m not talking about the Desolate Era or the Golden Era. I’m talking about Divergents fighting for a rightful space to live as they beg or ultimately try to snatch it from the heavens and die trying."
"...!" Venerable Knight Lussandra’s gaze flickered with shock.
She wondered how this young soul arrived at this conclusion, but she was forced to view her opinion with importance as she also predicted the Divine Emperor of Death would come here against all odds.
"I-If it’s possible, would you allow them to live in a separate dimension?"
Fairy Runalise’s gaze quivered. She placed her hand on the hilt of her sword as she recalled the sanctuary. Biting her lips, she uttered the most insane heretical words she had ever uttered in her life, "If it’s possible, I would protect them as long as they can keep living in peace in a separate dimension."
"...!"
Venerable Knight Lussandra turned stunned.
Suddenly, she felt like she had a whole new perspective, one that didn’t just end with the death of the Divergents for the universe to be safe.
If she recalled properly, the Celestial Transcendent had once wished for the human race to be able to have children with the other races, and the heavens are said to have granted it. She didn’t know if it was a myth or the truth, but she felt inclined to believe it strongly, as she felt a new purpose forming in her mind.
"Find them!"
"They have to be hiding somewhere here!"
"I’ll head into the abyssal cavity!"
They looked over the edge and suddenly saw more and more experts searching for the other Divergents. It seemed like the Celestial Transcendent had already informed them of the number of Divergents in this place.
As intense as their search was, the two fairies suddenly felt as though it didn’t concern them.
They then looked at the increasingly escalating battle of the giants. Their barrage of attacks, combined with different kinds of Laws and techniques, was never-ending, crossing ten thousand exchanges, with the two of them alone ruining a sphere of space, but the Divine Emperor of Death seemed to be adamant on perfecting his scythe intent.
All that was left was for the Divine Emperor of Death to somewhat convince them that he could truly reverse the Desolate Era that they couldn’t help but start looking forward to it more honestly.
*Clang!~*
Davis’s scythe descended from above, its curved edge at the tip inches away from reaching the Celestial Transcendent’s head. Davis didn’t seem to be discouraged. It was blocked again, like the thousands of times his blade had been blocked, but the Celestial Transcendent’s gaze flickered.
*Clang!~* *Clang!~* *Clang!~*
The scythe fell again, and again the gauntlet blocked it, but each collision rang deeper than the last, as though the blade were striking something behind the Celestial Transcendent’s eyes rather than the air before them. Sparks scattered like gold and black mist.
The Celestial Transcendent’s breath hitched, faint but not enough to escape Davis’s ultra-focused state.
Davis pressed on, scythe and sickle flowing together in an unbroken storm, each arc curving toward that same unmarked point between the Celestial Transcendent’s brows. He failed to open any wounds or cuts on the head, as it was obvious he was targeting it, yet something in that fierce exchange dimmed with every clash, flickering like a candle fighting a wind it couldn’t see.
The Celestial Transcendent surged forward, his chaotic might soaring into dense waves, trying to drown whatever was happening to him in sheer overwhelming force, but Davis matched him stride for stride, his spectral body seemingly undying as well as incredibly elusive, and the reaping intent behind his blade sinking deeper with every strike that should have meant nothing at all.
’This kid... he’s chipping away at my soul- no, Will using his reaping scythe intent...!’
The Celestial Transcendent was shocked, feeling as if he had been hit on the forehead; it might be over for this avatar! After all, this strange attack even clipped through the Will’s defense, and his soul was a chaotic soul, incredibly dense. To pierce through it, even a cultivator at the same level would have to strike multiple times to snuff his soul out.
Yet, it basically ignored his chaotic soul’s defenses and began chipping at his Will after breaking its defenses.
’This... is a solidified Will attack!’
The Celestial Transcendent’s pupils dilated, imagining that this lad really managed to fuse Enigmatic Heart Laws and Reaping Scythe Laws, perhaps thanks to his Reincarnation Will that easily represented one of the major foundational aspects of Reaping Scythe Laws!
