Chapter 4592: A Real Sword
Chapter 4592: A Real Sword
*Peck, peck, peck...*
On Roan’s shoulder, Lunelle held a Godly Beast Crystal with one leg while slowly pecking at it, happily consuming the energy inside. During this trip, Lunelle had already been given quite a number of Godly Beast and Spawn Crystals, and Roan could feel her strength steadily increasing as she absorbed them.
Of course, there was no such thing as a free lunch, so Roan had also made sure the Eternal Night Raven contributed to the hunt. Whenever possible, he had Lunelle fight Godly Spawns. She could sense the Godly Crystals inside those creatures, so she fought quite fiercely whenever one appeared. After roughly seventy days of this routine, Lunelle had already improved enough to defeat Average Stage Godly Spawns on her own.
Well, there was one rather amusing problem with that. The same Eternal Night Raven couldn’t understand a single thing anyone said inside the airplane. She was too young.
"Why do you want me to turn off the beacon?" Rean asked, looking at Roan with some confusion.
"I just want to check something. You will see," Roan replied.
Rean shrugged and followed the order. Soon, the airplane’s network signal disappeared. Ring Communicators could still connect to other nearby RCs, but the range was nowhere near enough to maintain communication with someone as far away as Aurundi had been.
The twins’ airplane remained in place for roughly ten minutes. At first, nothing happened. The surroundings remained completely quiet, with only the distant sounds of Godly Creatures occasionally reaching them.
Then...
"Hm?" Celis suddenly went to the window and looked into the distance. To everyone else, there was nothing there. To him, however, the situation was completely different. "Rean, there’s an airplane coming in our direction... almost. If it continues along its current path, it’ll miss us by a few hundred meters."
Rean looked in the indicated direction but couldn’t see anything. "Oh! So it’s an airplane using my Light Bending Array Plates, huh? Well, we’ve been gone for decades, so it’s normal that the designs I left behind have already been incorporated into newer airplanes. This one might be Aurundi’s now that our signal has disappeared."
Indeed, Aurundi’s airplane was equipped with Rean’s Light Bending Array Plates.
As for how Celis had detected it, he had simply sensed the disturbance it caused in the Celestial Energy around it. His perception couldn’t reach nearly as far as Godly Sense, but Celis didn’t need to expend any energy to use it. Sensing the flow and disturbance of the Celestial Energy in the environment was simply a natural ability for him.
Roan opened the airplane’s hatch and activated Rean’s Light Bending Skill. "You guys stay here."
With that, he jumped out and flew toward the forest below. He soon located a Godly Beast nearby, deactivated Rean’s concealment, and attacked it. However, he deliberately held back. He used only enough strength to make the battle appear genuine to anyone watching from a distance. From the outside, it looked like a real life-and-death struggle between a human cultivator and a Godly Creature.
There was another unusual detail about Roan’s weapon. He was fighting with a sword—a genuine material sword rather than one formed from Elemental Weapon Intent.
*Creee!*
Suddenly, Lunelle’s dark feathers shifted into a golden navy-blue color as several icicles materialized around her. A clean, cold mist enveloped her small body, and her expression became unusually serious. The icicles shot forward and pierced the Godly Beast several times.
Unfortunately, Lunelle was still too weak to cause serious damage. The icicles only left several small wounds in the Godly Beast’s body, but that was enough for Roan to retreat a little. From Lunelle’s perspective, Roan was genuinely struggling, and she immediately wanted to help protect him.
The battle continued for a while longer. Roan deliberately made it appear as though he was slowly reaching his limit, while Lunelle continued attacking whenever she found an opening.
Then, just as the battle seemed to be approaching its conclusion...
*Trum!*
*Puft!*
The earth beneath the Godly Beast suddenly shifted. An enormous Earth Spike erupted from the ground and pierced directly through the creature’s head.
The Godly Beast died instantly.
Roan’s expression changed as though he had just witnessed something completely unexpected. "Who is there?!"
His voice was loud, but his body remained apparently exhausted, and he didn’t even seem capable of properly raising his guard.
An airplane appeared directly above Roan, obviously due to the deactivation of the Light Bending Array Plates, and a man flew down from it. Roan wasn’t an idiot. The countless runes surrounding the man’s body made his identity obvious.
"A Thousand-Script Race expert?"
The man didn’t answer. Instead, the Godly Energy surrounding Roan suddenly compressed, immobilizing him. The sword in Roan’s hand dropped to the ground under the pressure.
The man then looked toward Lunelle, and his eyes immediately lit up with excitement. "The Eternal Night Raven... It really is an Eternal Night Raven!"
Roan, however, was certain about something else. ’A Law God...’
His expression remained tense as he asked, "What did you do to Aurundi?"
"Hmph!" The Thousand-Script Race expert didn’t bother answering.
—
Back inside the airplane, Kachia and Lukay watched the situation unfold, and both were shocked.
"Shit! It must be the Natak Region!" Kachia immediately realized.
Lukay turned toward Kentucky and Rean—or rather, toward Kentucky, because Rean didn’t even bother looking at what was happening outside. "Hey! Roan is in trouble!"
Rean merely glanced over before shaking his head. "He is in trouble indeed, but it isn’t Roan who’s in danger."
Lukay froze for a moment.
That answer didn’t make any sense to him.
—
The Thousand-Script Race expert landed directly in front of Roan, still staring excitedly at Lunelle. Yet his expression soon became serious as he shifted his attention back to Roan.
"Where is the Eternal Day Fox?" he demanded. "It must be somewhere inside your airplane, right? If you tell me where she is, I might consider letting you live."
Roan snorted. "Let me live? You’re obviously violating the alliance between the Regions. If news of this gets out, the Natak Region will be isolated. You came here without any intention of letting me live in the first place."
The man raised an eyebrow before smiling coldly. "Aren’t you a smart one?"
He reached forward and grabbed Roan by the throat, lifting him from the ground with ease. "But if I do this, your companions will probably show themselves, won’t they?"
*Creeeee!!!!*
Seeing Roan being lifted, Lunelle immediately tried to attack the man. However, the difference in cultivation was simply too great. The Thousand-Script Race expert easily suppressed her before she could unleash any meaningful attack.
"There’s no need to hurry," he said with a cold smile. "We’ll have plenty of time together after this."
—
"He’s so dead..." Kentucky commented from inside the airplane.
Rean and Celis immediately nodded vigorously.
Kachia and Lukay, however, looked terrified. "Then tell Roan to enter the Dimensional Realm! That’s a Law God!"
Kentucky glanced at them. "I wasn’t talking about Roan."
The two froze.
—
The Thousand-Script Race expert continued holding Roan by the throat as he looked around the surrounding forest and sky. His voice, filled with Celestial Energy, was amplified many times. "Come out! If you don’t want your companion to die, show yourselves immediately!"
Yet, at that exact moment, the Law God suddenly noticed something strange. He was trying to look toward the surrounding sky, but for some reason, his vision seemed to have shifted toward the ground.
It took only an instant for him to understand why.
His head... had been separated from his body!
’Red Death, Death Scythe!’
Roan had cut off his head!
The Thousand-Script Race expert’s severed head rolled through the air, his eyes still wide with disbelief. Before his consciousness faded completely, he saw something that made even less sense.
Roan’s injuries were rapidly closing as the Light Element circulated through his body, restoring his damaged flesh.
And in Roan’s hand was a scythe.
A scythe that hadn’t been there a moment ago.
The Law God wanted to ask how this had happened. He wanted to understand how Roan, who had been completely immobilized just moments ago, had suddenly cut off his head.
Unfortunately, his vision had already begun to darken.
He would never have the chance to ask.
