Death… And Me

Chapter 4591: No Signal

Chapter 4591: No Signal

Saying that the hunting was going smoothly would have been an understatement. The addition of the Great Void as an escape method allowed the twins’ group to take considerably greater risks than they otherwise could have. They had even fought two Godly Predators at the same time, although they had simply intervened while the two were already fighting each other rather than deliberately taking them both on from the start.

In any case, after roughly seventy days of constant hunting, the twins’ group had already accumulated more than 200 Godly Predator Crystals, not to mention six Godly Horror Crystals. It was an astonishing harvest by any standard, especially considering that they were operating so far beyond the areas previously explored by the Elite Exploration Groups.

Aurundi, who had continued following behind them throughout that time, was starting to find it increasingly difficult to keep up. After all, his own airplane didn’t have a Godly Pressure Disguise Array, meaning his presence continued to accumulate the farther they traveled outside the Sacred Relic’s influence. As a result, Godly Creatures were targeting him more and more frequently.

On the other hand, Aurundi hadn’t fought a single Godly Predator so far. Every Predator that the twins’ group encountered on their way deeper into the Godly Creatures’ Territories was promptly dealt with by them, after which they extracted the Godly Predator Crystals. That left only Godly Beasts and Spawns for Aurundi to deal with, so while they had become a constant nuisance, none of them were capable of putting a Law God in any real danger.

"Rean, Aurundi just asked us to wait for a little while. He’s busy behind us and had to stop," Celis suddenly commented.

Rean checked his RC, and sure enough, he had received the same message. "Aurundi is becoming quite a big target without being able to reset his presence. But then again, we’ve already covered more than four times the distance the furthest Elite Exploration Group had reached before us. It would be strange if there weren’t a lot more Godly Creatures here."

"Don’t forget that the south hadn’t received any meaningful horde attacks for a long time, so there were already more Godly Creatures here to begin with," Roan added. "We’re here to prevent a large horde from forming in the first place, after all."

Kentucky couldn’t help but raise a question. "By the way, shouldn’t this be enough already? I mean, usually, even with larger hordes, no more than a few dozen Godly Predators appear alongside one or perhaps two Godly Horrors. Three would already be pushing it. We’ve killed far more than that. I think we’ve probably prevented any truly dangerous horde from taking shape by now."

"That makes sense," Lukay agreed. "It’s not that a horde can’t form without Godly Predators. It’s just that it won’t be nearly as much of a nuisance without Predators and Horrors to deal with Besgol’s Zone Gods and Law Gods. If anything, a large horde lacking those two higher-level Godly Creatures would become nothing more than a training and resource-gathering opportunity for the Besgol Region."

Roan pondered his words for a moment before checking the number of Godly Predator Crystals they had accumulated. Since Lukay and Kachia were also helping with the hunting, they would naturally receive a share.

Roan didn’t believe in giving away free lunches. He made absolutely sure that anyone who received a portion of the crystals worked hard enough to deserve it. Even if he didn’t enforce that rule himself, Celis certainly would—and he might even kill someone who tried to take his crystals without contributing.

Of course, the arrangement was still a tremendous advantage for everyone involved. Where else could they obtain so many Godly Predator Crystals? Normally, only Law Gods could hunt Godly Predators with any degree of consistency outside the Sacred Relic’s influence. Not to mention, the partial safety provided by the twins’ Great Void was practically priceless.

Roan hadn’t forgotten Lukay’s earlier comment that a Pocket Dimensional Realm was supposedly only available to World God Realm experts and above. If that was truly the case, then Roan believed Spatial Powers should probably become available around the same realm as well. After all, one couldn’t create a Pocket Dimensional Realm without possessing some degree of control over space.

Finally, Roan turned to Celis. "What do you think?"

Celis already had an answer. He had been calculating their crystal distribution every time they acquired a new one, so the numbers were always fresh in his mind. "Kachia, Luxa, and Lukay would each receive around twenty-eight at the moment. Keep in mind that I’m dividing the crystals equally among the seven of us, but I’m not talking about how much energy each one has. Godly Creatures’ Crystals can vary as well."

He paused before continuing. "Anyway, that leaves roughly 115 Godly Predator Crystals for the rest of us. We cultivated for a while back in Woster after our breakthroughs, and I also used the crystals we received as rewards for our success there. Even so, I think we’d still be short by around fifty Godly Predator Crystals to reach the limit of the Peak Stage of the Aura God Realm."

Roan nodded. "What if we include the six Godly Horror Crystals?"

Celis had already considered that possibility as well. "Of the six we obtained, one would go to Kachia and one to Lukay. Luxa can’t absorb Godly Horror Crystals yet because of the backlash from such a large difference in power. That leaves four for the four of us. Using two of those four should be enough for us to reach the limit, while still leaving two Godly Horror Crystals in reserve."

It was no secret that Godly Horror Crystals were many times more valuable than Godly Predator Crystals. Celis was actually being conservative with his calculations. He had only counted the two Godly Horror Crystals with the lowest energy among the six they had obtained.

After all, there were differences in strength even among Godly Horrors. Of the six Godly Horrors they had killed so far, four had strength equivalent to an Initial Stage Law God. Only two, including the Bone Vulture, had been stronger than that. Naturally, those two contained more and purer Godly Energy.

Roan listened to everything. Since Celis had made the calculations, they were most likely accurate. They all shared the same cultivation, so there was no reason for him to doubt the numbers. "In that case, let’s keep checking this area for another ten days or so. We need to build up some reserves for later use in case we need them. After that, we can return to Besgol and focus on cultivation."

"Good," Rean nodded. "I’ll tell Aurundi that we’ll stay for another ten days. He’s been asking whether we’d be staying much longer. The Voltari is growing quite restless after being outside the Sacred Relic’s influence for so long."

Roan agreed as the group prepared to continue their journey. They were just about to resume flying when suddenly...

"Hm?" Rean narrowed his eyes. "That’s weird. Senior Aurundi’s RC is out of range."

The others immediately turned toward him. "That’s not possible. Your airplane’s signal beacon can reach hundreds of times farther than the distance Aurundi is following us."

"I obviously know that," Rean replied. "But I can’t pick up Aurundi’s RC signal at all. That usually only happens when someone is out of range... or when their RC is gone, broken, these kinds of things."

Roan’s expression immediately became serious. He looked through the airplane’s window toward the vast wilderness behind them. There was nothing unusual that he could see, but his instincts said otherwise.

"Turn off the airplane’s beacon."
