Death… And Me

Chapter 4588: Challenge

Chapter 4588: Challenge

As mentioned by the Godly Subjugation Guild, the number of Godly Creatures kept increasing as they traveled farther south. However, that wasn’t an issue for the twins’ group. First of all, most of the Godly Creatures couldn’t even tell they were there because of Rean’s Airplane’s Godly Pressure Disguise Array.

Rean also made sure to keep a close eye on the distance between their airplane and Aurundi. As agreed, Aurundi always remained around thirty minutes behind them. That might not have seemed like much, but there was no way Aurundi could actually see Rean’s airplane while the Disguise Array was active.

Aurundi, on the other hand, had to deal with the Godly Creatures once in a while. He might be a Law God, but the Godly Creatures obviously wouldn’t know his strength before deciding to attack him. Fortunately, Aurundi was also flying, meaning that only Flying Godly Creatures could actually give him any trouble. Ground-based creatures simply couldn’t catch up to him.

Not to mention, Rean had shared his airplane’s design before going to Woster, which included the Light Bending Array Plates. As a Law God, Aurundi obviously had more than enough resources to purchase one of the best airplanes available to himself, including that feature.

Godly Creatures could still sense Aurundi’s presence because he was a cultivator, but they couldn’t see him, giving him a considerable advantage whenever he needed to deal with them quickly. He could simply disappear from their sight and leave them behind once he decided they weren’t worth fighting.

The two airplanes continued flying south for eight days. During that time, the twins’ group killed more than ten Godly Predators as well as a few dozen Godly Beasts who happened to get in their way.

That was by no means a small number. One truly couldn’t compare the number of Godly Creatures found in Woster to what normally existed in the real world. Woster’s unique conditions had allowed such a ridiculous accumulation to take place, and now that the place had finally been freed from its confinement, it would most likely lose that special trait over time.

—

Speaking of Woster, there had been no news about it at all by the time the twins’ group left Besgol. The current theory was that Woster was probably located somewhere near one of the Regions that Besgol could contact, such as Natak. Yet, there had been absolutely no word from them so far.

Could they have been wrong?

Perhaps. But considering the number of experts Woster now had at its disposal, the twins’ group wasn’t particularly worried. Whatever happened, Woster should be able to take care of itself.

—

Finally, on the fifteenth day, the twins’ group arrived at the location indicated by their mission. From this point onward, no other Elite Exploration Group had charted the area yet. As expected, the number of Godly Creatures increased significantly as they ventured deeper into unexplored territory.

They were finding around three to four Godly Predators every day, which obviously made the twins’ group quite happy. The mission was already proving to be worthwhile.

Then, on the seventh day after reaching the unexplored area, Rean’s airplane radar suddenly picked up an enormous concentration of Godly Pressure.

Everyone immediately looked toward the radar. There was no doubt in their minds. That was the first Godly Horror they had found.

"Should we give it a try?" Kentucky asked.

Roan turned toward Lukay, who had recently reached the Late Stage of the Zone God Realm thanks to the rewards he had received from the Woster Mission. Of course, he had already been close to that breakthrough before the mission, so the resources had merely pushed him over the edge.

"The rest of us still can’t display much more than Late Stage Zone God strength, or at most Peak Stage Zone God power for a short moment," Roan explained. "We’ll need you to put your all into delivering the killing blow."

Lukay looked at him, visibly annoyed, several cracks of lightning flickering around his core. "You talk as if the strength you have at your level is some common sight in the Celestial Plane."

He decided not to dwell on that fact, though. "Anyway, yeah, if I put everything I have into a single attack, I should be able to display Law God-level power for a moment... without the laws, that is."

Rean then looked toward Kentucky. "You’ll be responsible for our escape route."

Kentucky couldn’t have been happier with that assignment. "Sure! I’m out!"

Without thinking twice, Kentucky opened the airplane’s hatch, jumped out, and immediately transformed back into his Minokawa Form. He flew away from the airplane at full speed, and Kachia followed him without hesitation. The two had grown quite close recently, and as Demon Beasts, they didn’t really care whether anyone happened to see them together.

Lukay watched them disappear into the distance. "This thing of yours, being able to enter your Pocket Dimensional Realm and then come out by your friend’s side, is such an overpowered feature. It’s almost unfair."

Rean turned toward him. "So you would rather we didn’t use it before this battle? I can call Kentucky back."

Lukay immediately changed his tone. "Ahem... As the old saying goes, if you have it, just use it. Only idiots would put themselves in unnecessary danger when they have a guaranteed way out."

"Hahaha!" Rean laughed out loud. "Now, that’s more like it."

Roan, who had been keeping his attention on the radar, finally spoke. "Enough bullshit. Focus on the task ahead. We can tell it’s a Godly Horror, but we don’t know how strong it is among the Godly Horror Creatures. If you aren’t careful, it might end your life in an instant before you even have a chance to think about using the Dimensional Realm escape method."

Lukay agreed. "Yes, sorry. Give me a second."

His body began to change as the lightning around his core gradually turned yellow. Lukay was accumulating his power for a short burst, just as he had done before, and he needed some time to properly prepare the attack. The yellow lightning grew increasingly dense around his body, causing the surroundings to tremble faintly.

Meanwhile, the airplane’s Godly Pressure Disguise Array continued operating.

That didn’t stop the Godly Horror from noticing their presence, though.

In the creature’s eyes, the twins’ group was simply another Godly Creature. It looked relatively weak as well, since the Godly Crystals being used for the disguise came from Godly Beasts rather than stronger creatures.

It was perfect.

The Godly Horror would never allow such a weak Godly Creature to approach it without reacting, especially when it didn’t belong to its own race. As far as it was concerned, allowing such a creature to approach unchecked would be equivalent to permitting a challenge to its dominance over the surrounding territory.

When the airplane finally got close enough, the Godly Horror immediately revealed itself and shot toward them.

*Creeeeee!!!*

"Hey, it’s a Bone Vulture!" Lukay immediately recognized the Godly Creature.

A gigantic bird emerged from the distance. Its body was covered in dark feathers, but portions of its wings and chest exposed massive bone structures underneath. The exposed bones were pale and strangely smooth. Its beak was ivory-white and curved into a vicious hook, while its eyes glowed with a deep red light.

The creature’s presence alone made the surrounding Godly Pressure feel heavier.

Lukay became serious. "It’s a kind of scavenger fighter. The more bodies and injuries that appear around it, the more ’fuel’ it gets to fight by absorbing their energy. It’s quite annoying when it appears during horde attacks."

He pointed toward the Bone Vulture’s enormous talons. "Be especially careful with those. They carry a decaying power that’s quite difficult to fight against once it injures you. The longer the fight lasts, the more dangerous it becomes."

The airplane came to a stop, and Roan’s Intent Scythes immediately appeared in his hands. "Then let’s finish it quickly before it has the chance to cause that much trouble."

He glanced toward Lukay. "You stay with Rean in case we need to flee into the Dimensional Realm. If you feel a Spatial Pull, don’t fight it. But above all, you’re the one responsible for delivering the final blow."

Lukay nodded firmly. "Leave it to me."

"Good." Roan opened the airplane’s hatch and jumped out, his two scythes already prepared for battle. "Let’s go."
