Chapter 4336: What The...
It wasn’t surprising that Roan and Kentucky weren’t pursued after leaving the marshlands behind. One must remember that the assault of the Godly Creatures was still ongoing. Even this far away from Besgol, numerous Godly Creatures continued moving in the region’s direction.
Some intended to participate in the assault itself, while others simply sought opportunities afterward. Once the war ended, many territories would become vacant due to the deaths of their previous owners. Naturally, stronger creatures would rush to occupy those empty regions.
Because of that, Roan and Kentucky were merely two among thousands of Godly Creatures approaching or passing through those lands every single day.
Would those Godly Horrors truly waste their time chasing every insignificant creature nearby?
That obviously made no sense.
Doing so would only waste their own energy for no reason at all.
And thus, Kentucky flew at full speed without daring to slow down for even a moment. Whenever fatigue began catching up to him, he immediately absorbed Godly Crystals to replenish his energy before continuing onward.
Although Kentucky still couldn’t manipulate Godly Energy outside his body like Aura Gods and above did, using that energy internally posed no issue whatsoever. Thanks to that, his recovery speed while flying was fast enough.
Back in Besgol, Rean and Celis had naturally already heard everything through the soul connection.
’That is bad,’ Celis commented immediately. ’Should we warn them already?’
’No,’ Roan rejected the idea right away. ’You wouldn’t be able to explain how you contacted us, let alone how you obtained such detailed information from this far away.’
’Don’t worry,’ Kentucky suddenly cut in while continuing his flight. ’Now that I’m flying at full speed, it shouldn’t take more than four hours to get back. Though I’ll probably arrive half dead by then, so make sure to properly take care of poor, exhausted me afterward.’
Naturally, everyone completely ignored Kentucky’s last words.
Rean instead focused on the real issue.
’Four hours...’ he muttered thoughtfully. ’Four hours can make a massive difference. I know you two are returning as fast as possible, but at the end of the day, Kentucky still can’t match the speed of Godly Horrors if they decide to mobilize.’
Rean quickly continued.
’It has already been a full day since the Sacred Relic’s power was reduced back to normal levels. Worse yet, you two aren’t even taking a direct route toward Besgol.’
He was absolutely correct.
If Roan and Kentucky flew directly back toward Besgol, there was a real possibility they would be caught from behind by the Godly Horrors moving toward the region. Because of that, Roan had deliberately chosen a longer and safer route instead.
Initially, Kentucky should have been capable of returning in roughly three hours.
’What do you want to do?’ Roan asked directly.
Rean didn’t hesitate. ’We don’t know whether this situation is truly connected to the destruction of the Besgol Region or not. But if it is, then we have to act now. Otherwise, we may eventually be forced to flee deep into the Godly Creatures’ territories and attempt to reach another cultivator region.’
His expression became more serious afterward. ’And honestly, even with our disguises, do you really think we could survive a journey like that? We would be talking years of travel surrounded entirely by Godly Creatures.’
After a brief pause, Rean finally revealed what he wanted. ’So... I intend to inform them about what you discovered right now.’
This time, Celis was the one who questioned him. ’And how exactly are you planning to explain where this information came from?’
Rean shrugged calmly. ’Simple. We used this excuse before. I’ll tell them Roan and I possess a soul connection because we are twins, something we were naturally born with. There’s no need to mention the System or any of our deeper secrets.’
He then added, ’Besides, we don’t need to reveal this to everyone. We can choose someone we trust at least a little.’
Rean’s thoughts immediately turned toward one specific person. ’Tobao, the monk.’
Trust.
That was never something easy to obtain in the cultivation world.
Roan especially preferred doubting everyone until the very end whenever possible. Still, Rean’s reasoning made sense. At this point, every hour mattered. Perhaps even every minute.
’Fine,’ Roan eventually accepted. ’Just make sure not to reveal anything unnecessary.’
Rean faintly smiled afterward. ’We’ve already seen how hard they’re fighting to protect Besgol. I think someone like Tobao or Arcis has at least earned the right to be trusted a little.’
---
Meanwhile, Tobao and Arcis remained in Terno Dore, where their battle against the local Godly Horror was still ongoing.
This particular Godly Horror was not only powerful but also exceptionally cautious.
Instead of fighting directly, it continuously harassed various battalions before retreating the moment Tobao and Arcis approached. Worse still, it deliberately avoided the areas strengthened by the Support Arrays whenever possible.
Several ambush attempts had already failed because of that behavior.
As a result, despite Roan having departed more than a day ago, the Godly Horror still hadn’t been defeated. At most, it had only suffered superficial injuries, far from enough to force it into retreat.
However, what truly bothered Tobao and Arcis wasn’t the difficulty of the battle itself.
It was the creature’s behavior.
Godly Horrors were merely the fourth level among the Godly Creatures. According to common knowledge, they shouldn’t possess intelligence anywhere near the level necessary for strategic thinking.
And yet...
The way this Godly Horror fought genuinely made it seem as though it carefully analyzed every move before acting. Whenever danger appeared, it retreated immediately. Whenever opportunities arose, it attacked with precision. Whenever Tobao and Arcis attempted to lure it somewhere disadvantageous, it simply refused to follow.
Honestly speaking, if the two Law Gods fought outside the Sacred Relic’s influence and away from the Support Arrays, they likely would have already lost.
At that moment, Tobao and Arcis watched the Godly Horror retreating back into the massive hordes of Godly Creatures once again.
That made both visibly frustrated.
"Fuck!" Arcis cursed loudly. "That thing has to possess intelligence! There is no way so many coincidences can happen repeatedly like this!"
"Amitabha... Amitabha..." Tobao calmly recited the mantra while sighing softly. "We must remain calm. Yes, defeating it is proving difficult, but reinforcements continue arriving in Terno Dore constantly. Little by little, the weaker Godly Creatures continue dying."
He then looked toward the battlefield below.
"Eventually, that Godly Horror will run out of places to hide. As the number of creatures decreases, the Sacred Relic’s influence will suppress it more and more."
Arcis wasn’t satisfied, but he couldn’t deny Tobao’s logic either.
"Whatever," he grumbled. "Let’s stay nearby so we can intercept it once it attacks the battalions again."
At that exact moment, Tobao noticed an incoming call on his Ring Communicator.
Seeing the caller’s identity, he answered almost casually.
"Little friend Rean," Tobao greeted calmly. "It is good to know you are safe. Do you need something?"
-Well... to be honest, we all do...- Rean answered from the other side. His tone sounded unusually serious. -You’d better prepare yourself, senior. What I’m about to tell you will probably make even you lose your patience.-
Tobao faintly smiled after hearing that.
He had been a monk since his time back in his Home Great Void. After countless years cultivating both body and mind, very few things could genuinely shake his composure.
Even during the battle against the Three-Eyed Raven, he had maintained complete calmness.
However...
That smile quickly disappeared.
Moments later, Tobao’s entire face turned purple with rage, a sight that Arcis thought to be an illusion for a moment.
"WHAT THE FUCK?!"
